I pursued stage and entertainment as an adult, primarily inspired by Allan Sherman and Bill Cosby. Both made me realize how clever and creative one could be with comedy. This is a lovely short retrospective of a unique, quirky man. Thank you!

He was a very funny and talented man. I love his songs. One is Old King Louie 😂💖. The other one is the twelve days of Christmas. He died too young at 48. Died the day before his 49th Birthday. At least his songs live forever.

Him and Vince Guaraldi seem to have quite a lot in common.
      Both were overnight sensations.
Both are primary remembered for one song
      Both won Grammys
      Both had a divorce
      Both died while/after performing

I've had his first 2 albums since the late 60's. Neither were new when I got them, but somehow, I can't remember how or where I got them from. I was in high school when he died. This is the first time I've heard about him dying.

It's funny - I know I'm going to be judged - but I sing it to my dogs and invent perverse lyrics (just Like Allan) 😎. But they probably don't appreciate my effort. Such a great tune. I do wonder why it's not popular.
