It's just business, a tax right off for Roger doesn't have as much virtue behind it as U make it out to believe. He profits off Jamie Oliver and piddy backs off him. Jamie tried really hard to get American kids eating good food, the lobbyists for the processed sugar food industry kicked his ass so hard he landed back in the UK.
Jamie's approach to school lunches and gardens is entirely "borrowed" from the American chef whose books and restaurants popularized farm to table and organic produce here in California before sweet Jamie was born, Alice Waters. His lack of success here in the USA wasn't because of lobbyists; he failed to get any traction for his "movement" because he wasn't doing anything original and was talking over people with experience like he was selling curry leaves as some kind of revelation in SE Asia. He did more harm than good- because of him children started to associate healthy food with shit food and that's not okay. Jamie was a good cook once, but then he rested on his laurels and started cutting all the corners. I've been a cook myself for the last 20 years and i follow his career from the start. From a promising chef he became a parody of cooking. He's a walking, talking offense to cuisine as a whole. His level is no higher than Kay's Cooking honestly. And not because he COULDN'T do better. He just doesn't care anymore. He's more interested in the TV/Internet fame than cooking. For a cook that's a giant no-no. A cook loves cooking, obsesses over it and doesn't allow themselves to cut corners. The moment you cut one corner, you might as well not be a chef anymore, cuz your innate laziness will tell you to cut corners every damn time. It's one thing to sub kaffir lime leaves for spinach as a home cook, but definitively different if you do it for the people. That shows even in his attempts to teach children to eat healthier: substitution, substitution, substitution... Resulting in a tasteless mush that MAY be healthier than a burger, but not all people will be satisfied with a goop on their plate. MOST people won't. And that's what Jamie does. He's a small-format star and not a chef.
