    This video just popped up. I am so excited for a few reasons. One, I absolutely miss being in the west, going down all kinds of trails like this with my now late husband and our dog. I haven't gotten through the whole video yet, but just seeing your video and the title immediately reminded me of when my late husband & I got stuck in the Prescott National Forest. We didn't have cell phone service or anything. Normally, he was always like "it will be ok." On this day it was the total opposite. I saw a huge bird flying high above us, and I remember being told by someone months earlier that in their culture (Native American) that when you see a bird flying high it's a good sign. They believed that it represented that your prayers were being lifted up to the Lord in Heaven. Normally, I can be anxious, but I just felt calm and peaceful. My husband was saying "We're in the middle of the forest, and we might be out here for a while. He said we might die out here. I don't know I just didn't feel that way. I don't know maybe within a half hour a truck came up to us, and they were out searching for someone else who apparently was lost. Ironically, if we didn't get stuck then the other truck might not have found the other party we saw earlier on, and we knew the way back to where they most likely were. I had pretty much all but forgotten about that day. Thank you for posting.

      @jonnytacooutdoors Thank you so much for your reply! Silly question I have been feeling like I should try to put something online with stories of faith and encouragement. LOL, the funny thing is I am not on social media, and I joke around that I'm out there with Laura Ingalls and the wagon/and or a fossil. LOL, my students say that is because I'm "like 30 years old!!!LOL 🤣 I really don't know how to get started, how to upload, or add text to video etc. Would you be able to offer any type of advice or assistance? Thanks a bunch! I can't wait to see more videos from you. 😀

      @@kenuber4014 Absolutely. Those paper maps are essential for overlanding. I have a stash of paper maps of the places we had traveled and overland. AAA is a wonderful source for free maps if you're a member. USGS is another source.

    Wow what a sunrise!! Great scenery. Bummer about the spindle failure. Welding on some materials is tricky and can increase likelihood of cracks. Plenty of science behind all of it.
    Still going to get myself a Tacoma in year or so, just hate to pay the $$ 😢. Im cheap 😂

    Two things I hate about the Tacoma- #1 17:05 hitting my damn head when I get in the truck, roofline needs to be higher or seats lower and im only 5’ 09”!! #2- stupid ass IFS. This is not a sports car, IFS does not belong on a truck. Straight axles are far more stronger and reliable. Unfortunately, we have very little choice.

    • @jonnytacooutdoors
      @jonnytacooutdoors  9 місяців тому +4

      There isn’t a lot of head room I have seat jackets and I hit my head sometimes if I hit a bump and yes IFS isn’t ideal but I still love the tacoma.

    Dang that's crazy! You weren't really going that fast either or drop the front end super hard. Is this similar to the LBJ issue on the older gens? Curious to see if anyone else is breaking spindles and if this needs to be a Toyota TSB for 3rd gen owners.

    Who performed the welding job on the gussets? This can be done/welded properly by only a very well experienced welder as the OEM Tacoma gussets are thin as to why add-on gussets exist. At least for now, your new/upgraded gussets are the last thing you need to be concerned about. Glad you are OK!
