I just want to offer that after a 3+ year break from DDO, I am making a return, and your channel was part of my decision process to come back. And I look forward to using your content to enhance my fun. Thank you.
Ah, my favorite!! 👏👏👏 Thanks Strim ☺️ I will add that I have had to boost charisma so that my UMD was high enough to use res scrolls…never underestimate the usefulness of a ranger that can heal and raise! ✨🏹
My update to the original vid here would be to consider Dark Hunter instead of some of the multi that once ruled. Adds some IMPORTANT solo viability (disable device, open locks, dark wolf, sneak attack, etc.
DWS is my favourite of their trees, but then I like going single-target on mine & I think of it less as the support tree but the one that most strongly leans into the concept of the ranger as a hunter - it also has the benefit of providing ranged & melee versions (at the same time, not just one or the other) for some of the special attacks so it's good if you want to build some ability to switch between the 2 roles. Combined with horizon walker, it makes for an archer with some great single-target dps & is a great boss killer, but in quests with a lot of enemies at a time it can get bogged down, so it can be a lot more tactical. Definitely worth picking up spellpower if you're an arcane archer, since the appropriate type will boost the damage of your elemental arrows imbue, but otherwise yeah, only devotion is really necessary. Wisdom isn't too essential, but for arcane archers it does effect the difficulty to resist your paralysing arrows (bonuses to enchantment spells will boost it too), which can be a very effective crowd control option, though naturally if you're using that your damage output will drop since you can't use elemental arrows with it at the same time - still, it can be a gamechanger in mid level heroics with a group; sure you probably won't top the kill counts personally, but it'll be immediately apparant that you're making an impact.
I’ve always been a Ranger, and love the 3 past life +6 elemental resist/ bow damage. I multi class, and I find 6 the optimal level. That gives you improved 2 weapon fighting, and multi shot, the t-3 core and access to the t-5 normal tree. I grab lvl 6 at 17, then at 18 i get greater 2 weapon combat I was a big fan of Tempest, however I dropped for Visanti knife fighter. The t-3 deep wood stalker is nice for the sneak attack, but I dropped that as well. Now i did keep 7 pts in arcane archer. That gives me returning arrows, and 3d8 elemental damage I mostly dial wield, and just use the bow when I need a ranged attack. I actually do lots of damage, but the weakness of the bow is that its single target. Dual wielding sort of hits everything, so its much more effecient Bottom line, as a 6 warrior you get 3 feats. At 6, ranger gets 4 of importance. 2 melee, 2 ranged. Thats the 2 weapon line, rapid reload and many shot (which is really nice attack at range) so if you want to dual wield, and use a bow, ranger has more to offer than warrior. It also, imho, has much better enhancement trees
Dear Strimtom any chance a DROW elf race would work? For bow/TFW scimitar swapping ranger? I would like to play a lil bit of both.. So after watching your great video I am thinking of going tempest with a backup bow for manyshot openings.. it makes sense right? but does the Drow race fit into the synergy? (Drizzt inspired and whatnot)
Hi Strimtom, I am watching your videos and wish to learn mechanics of DDO, it is a more complex MMORPG. Could you please make a guide video about game mechanics, such as types of reincarnation, tomes, item stats and what they do and which are good for what classes, what stats should we look for, etc., damage/etc calculation? Basically for a person that wants to start playing DDO and never played it before. DDO seems a bit overwhelming. There is no such guide yet and you make best guides :). Thanks
Hey Strimtom, I made a Wood Elf Ranger which I want to go dual wielding but the Tempest tree doesn't appear. Do I have to be a certain level or race to access that tree?
Hi Strimtom. I have been looking for info if they fixed spellwords damage increased being considered only after monsters elemental resistances. Have we got any fix on that lately?
I think that I should really start a new account on ddo. My old one is long gone. And my local group of D&D old friends are hard to get together as we all have different work schedules.
if you really wanna feel like a pirate, I think a 11 bard,6 fighter, 3 ranger build would work. in tempest there is a enhancments that lets you use scimitars as a light weapon. we take fighter for crit multiplier and damage in kensei. and bard to go up in swashblocker cause that lets you get alot of damage for light single weapon fighting builds. sadly hand cannons are not a thing, but you can choice between nothing or a buckler in your off-hand
I’m pretty sure when Strim reviewed Horizon Walker he covered the recent ability to put bows on almost anyone…including Swashbucklers maybe 🤔 you should ask him!
I played DDO when it first came out, Rangers where shunned. I am glad to see they fixed them.

Thanks for the video, I appreciate the weapon sets tip about how to set up a duel wielding hot-bar at 9:03
👍
Thank you very much Strim, I was impatiently awaiting this guide, I will finally be able to start the adventure as a ranger. 😀

Yep, that works just fine. Drow is very cool for style points
which race are u palying ? drow elf wood elf etc ? and which stat points do u put in when u created the character ?

I will be doing this once I finish getting something out for each of the classes, great idea!
That sword is larger than the dagger, so you will need oversized for that you should be mentioning that

can you update the links there is a new forum and the links you have for the builds are down

i am making an ranger, which stats i should put my points in level 1?
can you move and shoot with ranger? or does have stand still??
You can move and shoot. You get a bonus for standing still later called archers focus that is good for bosses.
@@Strimtom thx. I tried to do a account. But i could not find Dod client from Steam.. any advice?
I think that I should really start a new account on ddo.

What are your thoughts on Horizon Walker?
It would be really good if bow was fun to play
can rangers be pirates?
Only if you say “Arrrrh!” a lot.

Ah yes. The stab caster xD
wel i am a beginner only done D&D on paper years ago, and i do not know what you talk about in this beginners series, so i guess its not for beginners
