Chunky Dunky Review - Nike made the chunky dunky on the SB Dunk Low platform so we thought it would be the perfect shoe to compare the SB Dunk vs Regulars Dunks. But when we got the shoes there were some red flags that made me question the quality of them so before we do the comparison we cut them in half to see if the chunky dunkys are real leather and real cow hair.

As a sneaker head watching, these videos hurt but at the same time it’s really nice to understand what we are wearing more and if someone was gonna destroy a shoe I’m glad it’s at least well documented and presented as educational. Looking forward to more in the future!

Eh, I don't think this is shocking anyone - sneaker heads aren't buying these things because they actually think the leather is real or because they think cheap Nikes are comparable to high end products.
I did buy my first pair of Jordans this year and I did not really like them. I then saw him cut them in half and now I see why I do not like Jordan 1s. They are a 100$ shoe and not a dime more. Whoever pays more than that for such a let down of a shoe is nuts! Even Jordan said they were not comfortable.
No one is buying these because the materials are good. They're buying them because they look cool as hell. Personally I've been buying reps for two years. They've come a long way. The quality control is arguably better at some rep factories. I don't mind paying $100-$140 a pair at all because I know the materials aren't worth retail even.

I love the macro shots! We can see the fabric and leather so clearly and it really helps with understanding what kind of material they are and what they look like close-up. I've been looking into buying a new pair of sneakers with a friend and going into stores trying to see if a shoe is using leather or fabric has been helpful and frankly a little bit fun, thanks to your videos!
Also surprised you haven't done a video on a Puma sneaker (other than the platform shoe), would be interesting to see maybe a Puma Suede cut open since I've heard good things about it being durable!

very curious to see other sb dunks cut in half. especially the all suede versions of the colorways. I have been skating them for a bit now and am a big fan. So I hope those ones don't let down as much as these did.

using syntetics is normal, it's a 90/100 dollars shoe that has to be trashed skating, from what I've seen in reviews materials last and they are comfortable and they grip well....
Would be interesting to see the difference in quality between newer ones and older (black box and before). Anyone who's been buying SBs for that long knows how different they were.

Nike is the bad guy here, and thats coming from a lifelong sneaker head who loves their shoes. Its Nikes fault for not being clear with any type of authentication process. NIke is essentially complaining about stockx providing a service that needs to exist, but not doing it the way they want without providing an alternative.

Decent chance these are reps considering they’re from StockX lol, although to answer your question in my experience the materials are often sourced from very similar (if not the exact same) place, so you’ll most likely find similar quality leathers and suedes to what Nike use. They usually skimp out on things like the material used for the sole, the laces and internal elastics, insoles, boxes, and basically anything that’s not the upper of the shoe lol.

I think it's important to remember when talking about limited sneakers, people aren't paying $1,000 for a $1,000 sneaker, they're overpaying $1,000 for a $170 sneaker

@@aidanlikesshoes6892 I am more than aware of the differences between Jordan 1s and dunks. I'm using the MSRP of Jordan 1s because, not only are they more expensive, but they are chronically more popular than dunks. And the point still stands, if you pay 20x retail, that just doesn't make sense.

I LOVE this content and I'm so happy I found this channel! I have a suggestion, if you don't mind. I'm a surgical tech and I work in the operating room all day and I was looking at "Waterproof" shoes, I came across the Vessi shoes "Everyday Classic" but they are kinda pricey, especially if they aren't comfy or waterproof. Another shoe is the Nike "Superrep" 1,2 and 3, just 1 or 2's 3's are a newer design. Thanks for the content! 💚💚💪🏽💪🏽

Gotta say thank you because you and another UA-cam, as well as the hype train, has me pretty much done with Nikes and I now look for sneakers to not only look good but be of quality too. Also love that you've been exposing Nike's "leather" as it always seemed off to me that people would mention that x sneaker has premium leather, even when I did like Nikes.

@@Mohamed-bt7zx 15 at most, for the actual production atleast for a real leather dunk, but for fake yeah I can see these costing less than 10 to produce. Then add about 10-15 for bureocracy and distribution and the such. So we are left with around 50-70 dollars of profit for Nike depending on the dunk model, which is kinda nuts honestly.

I have 2 pairs of the Chunky Dunks and when you wear them the toe box has a serious crease that looks like a bent plastic piece! I dont care about creases but the crease is so noticeable its insane the even wear them!

You should consider the Off white 1-50 dunks for an episode, much cheaper to scoop then these trash flops in the resale market and a much better quality shoe. Retail was 180(I got a pair actually!) and the leather feels really buttery to me,(I’m no expert and couldn’t say whether it’s good or bad) but it’s got leather inside as well and the shoe has worn much better than an orange box or sb dunk.
I somehow managed to get the lot 1 OW dunk from last summers drop. The quality is actually still pretty dogshit. Leather feels very plasticy and the shoe is super uncomfortable.

Would love to see you cover one of the SP Dunks from 2020. CU1726-100, CU1726-101, & CU1727-100 are the SKUs. These dunks seem to have a much higher-quality leather than what we see today. Would make an interesting comparison to today's dunks.

I think an interesting shoe to cut open would be a Dansko Professional cut open. I wore them for years and they are the classic nurse shoe, so they would make an interesting contrast to both work boots and fashion shoes.
I'm certainly not a professional, but I wanted to ask what shoes last longer, which is made of natural products or those made of synthetic materials?
You should check out the nike dunk x passport “workboot”. Would suit the theme of your channel plus the material choices are more durable in looks, but are they really..?
Also I’d love to see you do a dunk high and what your opinion is of them.
