    Great video Matt, really enjoyed it.
    Like I said before, was considering the end of last year, however charging infrastructure here in the UK is not supportive enough to justify owning a Livewire, nor is the £28,500 price tag, the bike in my mind should be priced around £19,995.

    My "Chapel" got one in just before Christmas. They let me sit on it. Feels lighter than my 2018 XL1200C. Only problem I had was, Seat is High for me. The Range I could work with. Riding to and from work. Have to charge it by the middle of the work week. They allow people to drive in the River Basin? Looks like driving an electric power jack like the double and triples at a warehouse.

  • @OrlandoRick
    @OrlandoRick 4 роки тому +1

    Nice review! Worth pointing out that it is not quiet accurate to say there was no space for a L2 charger. The space under the seat is EXACTLY the size required for a 3.3 kW L2 charger (see any Energica motorcycle). I can only assume they had one there in pre-production and then pulled it out for cost-containment, or maybe they are planning one as a future upgrade.

    • @MattLaidlaw
      @MattLaidlaw  4 роки тому +1

      For space, weight, etc reasons they had to make a decision for level 3 or 2. They went with the faster one. I think there are less level 3 chargers out there than 2 but I think it’s the right decision to go 3. This will “future proof” the bike a little more and dealerships are all required to have level 3. Plus charging is free at the dealers with level 3

    would I buy it, No. I wouldn't its not my style I prefer the loud pipes and thundering gasoline engine but I truly appreciate Harley Davidson going the extra mile and being a leader in the industry to design something like this. Thank you Harley for accepting the challenge and going the extra mile. Its an absolutely incredible machine and the engineering that had to go into it I can't even imagine. The styling is not your typical Harley its striking, new, fresh. I totally agree with Mr. Patrick the lines are elegant and streamlined It is an incredible bike

  • @davidjames3985
    @davidjames3985 4 роки тому +3

    That is pretty awesome, I could definitely have one as a second bike (Assuming I have money to burn, of course). However as long as loud pipes are legal well, doesn´t matter how fast this Wire is, because you can probably get an R1 which is faster for alot less money, so, the selling point for this is definitely just being hyped and cool and stuff. But we all have to respect how much effor HD put into this, we can all remember when the project started and everyone was like 'meh', now in 2020 its here and it probably is the best electric bike in the market, 'not a Harley' definitely but amazing engineering, and if t can hel HD stay in the market well, welcome to the family.

    What a fantastic video Matt, excellent work man. I’m very interested to see where this goes for HD. It’s gutsy as hell for them of all companies to try this. I beg your forgiveness and I’m sorry to be negative, but this is just not something that will ever interest me. Im a very open minded person, but I’m too old, and must have all that you speak of in the beginning. I do however think it’s possible there will be enough younger modern minded riders to sustain the effort, and I wish HD all the luck in the world on its success.

    For all those complaining about range or charge times... I wonder what kind of range the very first harleys had? What kind of fuel capacity? How available was gas back in 1903? It's brand new tech crammed into a very small package. A 1903 Harley would never keep up with a 2003 harley. Wonder where electric bikes will be in 100 years, but also to get to where the latest gas harleys are you had to start off with that 1903 harley which was most likely expensive and impractical even back in 1903.

    Dear Mr. (Matt)
    I hope this message finds you well. I'm interested in V REX motorcycle and I have a question that needs to be answered.
    Could you please explain in brief the V REX pros and cons? I'm thinking of buying this motorcycle.
    Thank you and I can't wait to read your reply.

    30 sec to fill the tank with $15 of gas and your good for 150 miles is hard to beat.

      Can’t count the amount of times I’ve been in my car and if I hadn’t seen a bike coming up, I almost shit myself when it passed me because it’s a total myth that loud pipes save lives, just doesn’t stack up in the real world!

      That depends on the situation I drove a truck for 30 years and seen many accidents to many were motorcycle accidents I've owned 20 bikes in my life had my share of of close calls. Cell phones kill more people then guns.

      @@seeteasea5497 That is true. You can rarley hear them until they pass, making it pointless. Generally i ride careful and don't have pipes and i have no problem. Bikers like to ride like idiots then pretend your the asshole though. The one time it does help is when people are pulling out into traffic they do hear you coming. So its a yes and no. Depends on the situation.

      @@seeteasea5497 Exactly, the whole "loud pipes saves lives" is pure bullshit of the highest order. I ride a CBR500R 100 miles per day, the bike is basically silent and cars move out of the way 10 cars in front. Bright color and LED headlight will do far more in front than a loud pipe for people behind you.

    Great video! Glad to be a Patron of yours. I have to mention the roads out there look like crap!!!! How do you guys put up with it?!?!? Roads in my neck of the woods are great and gas is $2.05 gal. low city and state taxes. Tell your politicians to fix the damn roads (but you are in California). You guys have to take them to the canyons, you just have to do a video of them up there in the twisties. Read a lot about Robert and his passion for motorcycles. Great ambassador for the 2 wheel community.

    Great bike its little bit pricy but what do you expect its Harley Davidson. But its still to early for electrical bikes to be used every day, imagine driving with the crew and every 120 miles every one takes 5 minutes to 15 minutes to fuel up and us a bathroom. You will be stuck for long time to charge the bike. I believe in 5-10 years Electrical bikes and cars will have significant results. Great Video Matt Thumbs up!

    If I had the cake I’d have a live wire. Everything advances and this fits in with my riding style. More than enough range and when I want to take a trip I grab the gold wing anyway. For me the ride is more important than the hearing damage or some perceived image. I also ride a Yamaha r3. 34 years on the road and I’ve ridden everything. They all have a use like tools in a toolbox. I don’t suffer from hurt feeling because someone else doesn’t like what I’m on. Not my problem

      It’s a lot less than the gas powered engines. Basically tires, brakes, belt check. There is a small amount of “transmission fluid” that goes in the drive gear case. I think you change that about every 10k maybe. It’s inexpensive. I’m not entirely sure when the coolant needs to be changed.
