Hey there Paul! Thank you so much for the kind words and support my friend! I wrote up a literal 50 page book to create this LOL. The stylus was actually given to me in a jewelry factory when I lived in Zimbabwe. It was made by a friend of mine over there and I got the pleasure of seeing the factory in action. Its actually their national symbol! But man there is truly something about a nice stylus or pointer and a solid map. I swear its one of the most random ASMR triggers but its seriously effective. The map definitely is a highlight for sure. There is a person I go to for maps who has a very unique authentic "old timey" style. Honestly the history of Mesopotamia is so overwhelming that this video was 50 pages long of text yet I didn't even get past a few dozen cities and a short span of Persian History. There are like 4 other major dynasties besides the Achaemenids too, not to mention all the other empires that controlled that region. I've tried to make my focus for the past five years to be the history of that part of the world! I'm so glad you found this relaxing and of course the next one is going to be the most ambitious video yet so keep an eye out...just might be a week or two LOL. Have a great week Demeter!
Hey there! Hope all is well. I've only just begun to watch this video. You definitely spent a great deal of time and effort putting this together. You always do such an amazing job on your video content! Much of what I know about the Persian Empire comes from the interactions of the Greeks and Persians during the Persian Wars. Ancient Persia isn't really taught much in school besides when studying ancient Greece or a middle eastern class. I love maps especially when learning or discussing about empires and civilizations in history. If you do other future map videos, maybe you could do some of ancient Greece and the city states/early civilizations, the Roman Empire (republic to the greatest extent of the empire), ancient Egypt (the 3 kingdoms), or even ancient China and India with the different dynasties and empires. Endless possibilities. lol. Look forward to seeing more content like this in the future. 😃
YOOOOO YOUNGGUY6! How are you my friend? I wrote up 50 pages of research for this video...like literally the script was 50 pages. I know its fairly visually simple but yeah the research and production took ages! I am really appreciative to hear you say that. I totally agree that Ancient Persia isn't taught in schools at all. I really appreciate the map suggestions and I definitely will keep doing map videos. I am one of those people who actually finds Maps as one of my biggest triggers in fact LOL. I would love to do an Ancient Greek City state map, and I will put it on my list 1000%. I've done a map video in my first Rome Video which shows the map of Rome during one of its heights. I've already got an 1800's India Map on the way, but agreed, ancient India or even Ancient China would be amazing. I try to keep my content related to my own areas of "expertise" and I've got a good working knowledge of China (just have done a lot of reading but not a historian) but I admit I've only broached the History of India around the Gandhi transition post British era. Sometimes its hard to find good books to read on those particular subjects. Egypt is a subject I haven't touched on yet, but I swear its something that one year I'm going to go really hard in exploring via maps, roleplay etc. The next video is the long awaited Meiji Japan video which will include some maps of Japan 1800's too. I'm considering a map of Ukraine and that region too considering all that is happening in the world right now over there. Dude, its really great to hear from you and again I think you've got a legit video idea which has now been added to my list (ancient greek map)! Thank you!

I'm a visual person and maps and photos are important especially when studying history. I forgot about the Roman Empire video you did a while back...I liked that one as well. I would love to see an ancient Greece map exploration video! It would be cool to see you do a Howard Carter type roleplay with the discovery of a pharaoh's tomb (not necessarily King Tut but along those lines). As with Persia, India and China weren't really touched upon much when I was in school. Just a little bit. I had to read on my own about more of the ancient civilizations of India (Indus Valley, Mauryan & Gupta empires) and China (Shang, Zhou, Qin, Han dynasties). Some of the curriculum has been revised where I work and there is more incorporated nowadays to include Asia (India, China, Japan, Southeast Asia etc.) rather than just Western civ in Europe. Anyway, I look forward to seeing the Japan video and of course other future videos to come! Always nice to chat with you!
I totally agree and yeah sometimes ideas need visualization to really allow your brain to wrap around the complexity. A picture speaks a thousand words as they say. I have gotten Howard Carter suggestions and its definitely in the cards in the future. And totally the same here, I had to spend about 5-10 years reading about China on my own. IndiaI really tried to find good literature but I mostly found recommendations for the Gandhi era and so I focused a lot on that part. Thats really great to hear some curriculum has been adjusted to include a broader perspective. The thing is that the centers of civilization were in other places throughout the ages especially in China but also in the Middle East like the Persians. I honestly have a lot of expertise in Russian history so that's high on my list but I just want to do it in a way that is sensitive to the moment. I've got a Greek Scribe/Philosopher sort of in the works but it might be a bit till its finished. Last thing, I'm working with another ASMRtist on wild Illuminated Manuscripts...LOL. I'm not sure if you've had a chance to check out some of the more strange illustrations on those old manuscripts but my my are they something else! Hope you'll get a chance to check those out. And for sure, I'll see you on the next video, and if you have any India book suggestions feel free to send them my way!

I started watch this last night, hoping for a bit of history as well as relaxation ( the history of Mesopotamia is long and complicated!) but unfortunately it was so lovely and relaxing I think I fell asleep after about five minutes..! Fantastic stuff, Nathan!

Honestly the history of Mesopotamia is so overwhelming that this video was 50 pages long of text yet I didn't even get past a few dozen cities and a short span of Persian History. There are like 4 other major dynasties besides the Achaemenids too, not to mention all the other empires that controlled that region. I've tried to make my focus for the past five years to be the history of that part of the world! I'm so glad you found this relaxing and of course the next one is going to be the most ambitious video yet so keep an eye out...just might be a week or two LOL. Have a great week Demeter!

Hey there! Hope all is well. I've only just begun to watch this video. You definitely spent a great deal of time and effort putting this together. You always do such an amazing job on your video content! Much of what I know about the Persian Empire comes from the interactions of the Greeks and Persians during the Persian Wars. Ancient Persia isn't really taught much in school besides when studying ancient Greece or a middle eastern class. I love maps especially when learning or discussing about empires and civilizations in history. If you do other future map videos, maybe you could do some of ancient Greece and the city states/early civilizations, the Roman Empire (republic to the greatest extent of the empire), ancient Egypt (the 3 kingdoms), or even ancient China and India with the different dynasties and empires. Endless possibilities. lol. Look forward to seeing more content like this in the future. 😃
YOOOOO YOUNGGUY6! How are you my friend? I wrote up 50 pages of research for this video...like literally the script was 50 pages. I know its fairly visually simple but yeah the research and production took ages! I am really appreciative to hear you say that. I totally agree that Ancient Persia isn't taught in schools at all. I really appreciate the map suggestions and I definitely will keep doing map videos. I am one of those people who actually finds Maps as one of my biggest triggers in fact LOL. I would love to do an Ancient Greek City state map, and I will put it on my list 1000%. I've done a map video in my first Rome Video which shows the map of Rome during one of its heights. I've already got an 1800's India Map on the way, but agreed, ancient India or even Ancient China would be amazing. I try to keep my content related to my own areas of "expertise" and I've got a good working knowledge of China (just have done a lot of reading but not a historian) but I admit I've only broached the History of India around the Gandhi transition post British era. Sometimes its hard to find good books to read on those particular subjects. Egypt is a subject I haven't touched on yet, but I swear its something that one year I'm going to go really hard in exploring via maps, roleplay etc. The next video is the long awaited Meiji Japan video which will include some maps of Japan 1800's too. I'm considering a map of Ukraine and that region too considering all that is happening in the world right now over there. Dude, its really great to hear from you and again I think you've got a legit video idea which has now been added to my list (ancient greek map)! Thank you!

I'm a visual person and maps and photos are important especially when studying history. I forgot about the Roman Empire video you did a while back...I liked that one as well. I would love to see an ancient Greece map exploration video! It would be cool to see you do a Howard Carter type roleplay with the discovery of a pharaoh's tomb (not necessarily King Tut but along those lines). As with Persia, India and China weren't really touched upon much when I was in school. Just a little bit. I had to read on my own about more of the ancient civilizations of India (Indus Valley, Mauryan & Gupta empires) and China (Shang, Zhou, Qin, Han dynasties). Some of the curriculum has been revised where I work and there is more incorporated nowadays to include Asia (India, China, Japan, Southeast Asia etc.) rather than just Western civ in Europe. Anyway, I look forward to seeing the Japan video and of course other future videos to come! Always nice to chat with you!
I totally agree and yeah sometimes ideas need visualization to really allow your brain to wrap around the complexity. A picture speaks a thousand words as they say. I have gotten Howard Carter suggestions and its definitely in the cards in the future. And totally the same here, I had to spend about 5-10 years reading about China on my own. IndiaI really tried to find good literature but I mostly found recommendations for the Gandhi era and so I focused a lot on that part. Thats really great to hear some curriculum has been adjusted to include a broader perspective. The thing is that the centers of civilization were in other places throughout the ages especially in China but also in the Middle East like the Persians. I honestly have a lot of expertise in Russian history so that's high on my list but I just want to do it in a way that is sensitive to the moment. I've got a Greek Scribe/Philosopher sort of in the works but it might be a bit till its finished. Last thing, I'm working with another ASMRtist on wild Illuminated Manuscripts...LOL. I'm not sure if you've had a chance to check out some of the more strange illustrations on those old manuscripts but my my are they something else! Hope you'll get a chance to check those out. And for sure, I'll see you on the next video, and if you have any India book suggestions feel free to send them my way!
