    Amazing! I literally am writing an ambient style song right now out of nowhere, simply based on what you showed in this video. Amazing how in music the most beautiful things are often the most simple too. My creativity has just opened a gateway, thank you!

    My contemporary church plays them all the time. Good explanation. I used more delay, I can see where reverb has a different vibe.

    Thank you so much for this tutorial! I am a rock musician (and at heart a jazz head...) who is making the transition to writing for a potential television series that is in the vein of 'Top Gear' but more than just cars...This music is beautiful and has always been a complete mystery to me. You have really opened my eyes and ears.
    I believe that really good music is not only heard, but felt. There has been some atmospheric music that has moved me to tears because it was so expressive and beautiful...
    Thank you, thank you, thank you.

    Thank you so much for sharing this. I have used this almost every communion at church for some subtle ambient background music. You can also play the open D string with this and it adds some fullness.

    The lesson was, in my opinion, very useful to the beginning guitar player wanting to play and not realizing how darn easy it is to start playing something beautiful and yet quite simple. Guys I have been learning so much more in extreme depth on Antoine's Master Class online courses. I am sharing that information to you without being asked to because if you want to really excel and become just as good as Antoine, the ambient guitar academy Master Class will get you there I swear it. It won't be long and I will be sharing my creations on UA-cam as well. You're welcome! :D

    I think this is the best "starter" lesson I watched on the topic of Ambient guitar. You know why? Because everyone can use these basic ideas to make an epic piece, without any problems or digging deep in channels and tutorials. The drone can be made by a synth, and a couple of string instruments play those two-note chords, and with a bit of creativity, even a beginner musician can make great pieces.
    Although I knew all you said in this video, I spent time on watching it, and I'll share the video with people who ask me "how to get started with making ambient music".
    Great Job!

  • @IsothermeMusic
    @IsothermeMusic 4 роки тому +2

    You forgot the shimmer! Lol! So overused, but beautiful in occasional context. As always, Antoine, a thoughtful and helpful video.
    One thing I think about when playing ambient for the public (and not for other ambient musicians) is that the average listener doesn’t know what sounds and approaches are ordinary or overdone. They just hear it as beautiful. A common comment I get as an ambient street musician is that listeners tell me they can’t believe a guitar is making all of these beautiful sounds. So if we look at what you say in the context of comparing one’s playing with other ambient players on UA-cam, you’re dead-on correct! 👏🏻 But consider the people who your music reaches outside of this community. They hear it as meditative, regardless of the approach.
    Myself, I find my ears need more non-diatonic harmony floating around and a melody that recurs against ever-shifting chords. We have to keep ourselves entertained too! ✌🏻

      @AntoineMichaudGuitar  4 роки тому +1

      Great reflection! I agree with this. Something overused will always be new for someone in the world, at any time. We should keep that in mind also!

    Really timely lesson for me. I have spent years on learning the technical aspects of playing, learning songs, and more recently messing with pedals, but just today, literally as I was on my cool down after a morning training ride, a few minutes before the notification on this video, I decided my next priority would be to look for lessons on ambient playing and chords, looking to actually composing some pieces and recording them. When I noodle, I always wind up playing ambient style music. I'll sign up for the Masterclass just as soon as I finish paying out the last pedal I have on lay-by, damn Erupter fuzz. Starting on the free stuff today.
    Thanks Antoine. :)

      @@AntoineMichaudGuitar - Hey Mr. A.M.‼
      I’m an old man trying to live a childhood dream of learning how to play guitar , even if it’s just a little strumming (lol ) , I was trying…BUT…just my luck, l was interrupted in my“teen years”, fresh out of high school by a “Crazy Asian War “ called Vietnam ‼Sooo , here I am , 50+ years later wanting to give it another try ‼
      But I ran across this channel and found out my “squeaky noise “ , can lead me to something that sounds ok if done with the instructions of someone like you.
      I love trying this type music… and it’s great for an old man like me‼
