- VN24 - Schwerte / Germany - (Part2) Salvage and clean-up work after serious rear-end collision on A1 near Schwerte. A 63-year-old truck driver had driven into an end of traffic jam and was seriously injured and trapped in his cab. The fire brigade freed the man and took him to a hospital. A salvage company from Iserlohn had to tow the truck.

For a modern car in proper maintenance, on a clean, dry road, in daylight, the MINIMUM following distance is two seconds = 176' @ 60 mph. 9 “car lengths." This is not the emergency stopping distance. It is the distance needed to perceive the brake lights of the vehicle ahead lighting, realize that it is slowing, lift your foot from the go pedal high enough to clear the brake pedal, move your right foot to the left, push the brake pedal, calculate how hard to push the pedal, push it that hard.
If the vehicle ahead is making an emergency stop, two seconds is just barely enough to keep from rear-ending.
Much better is 3 seconds. 264’ @ 60 mph. 13 “car lengths.”
On a wet road, 5 seconds. Snow, 10 seconds. Ice, a long, long way.

defo needed an artic lowloader for this tow in the UK the police wouldn't let it leave the scene like that wow and for German company, this is unusual as they are usually one of the best countries for health and safety prob in a rush to clear the lane and get the autobahn open again the gods was watching on the driver that day

This tow is anything but safe. No safety clips on the hooks, ... very crude tow
Safety clips often make it difficult and by times make it impossible to hook up. I do see a lot that simply don't have safety hooks, and surprisingly there seldom happens anything undesirable with them. Also, they are NOT making use of any hooks at all during the actual tow, are they? They only use the hook and chain to get bent pieces of metal out of the way and so on, and that is a hands-on job anyway during which they are standing right next to the work and actively are guiding things. A clip would be utterly unworkable there.
How can they depend on nylon ropes?

Eigentlich müssten sie Osteuropäischen Speditionen mind.1000000€ als Sicherheitsleistung bei der Einreise für jeden ihrer Trucks hinterlegen um Schäden und Ärztliche Versorgung bei von ihnen verschuldeten Unfällen zu decken,aber dazu ist unsere Regierung zu weich um das durchzusetzen!
@@Superbaer567 Gelaber. Seine eigene Krankenversicherung zahlt für seine Behandlung. Ausserdem kann "das deutsche Volk" wohl kaum auf die Fahrer aus dem Osten verzichten, sonst gibt es leere Regale.

I saw FOUR semis on I-20 east at the weigh station west of Atlanta, Georgia, USA: №1 had been rear-ended by №2, which had been rear-ended by №3, which had been rear-ended by №4.
The cabs of №s 2, 3 and 4 looked much like this truck.
The anti-underride bumpers that high bed freight trucks are required to have, which are barely adequate for a low-speed rear-ender by a FIAT 500, mean nothing to another truck.
I see heavy trucks “drafting" (tailgating; following too closely) anytime that I go on the highways. They tailgate one another, they tailgate light vehicles.

Problem here is the no-overtaking rules for trucks on this road in Germany..trucks bunch up together and eventually this happens. Plus, Volvo and Scania cabs are much tougher than the Dutch ones..
The rules are not the problem, it's the idiots not keeping a safe distance and not paying enough attention.
Well, that's why by law 70 mtrs. distance should be maintained between heavy trucks.

Was mich eigentlich wundert - gerade bei so einer Bergung eines LKWs - warum werden in Deutschland nicht diese Rotator eingesetzt, wie sie in den USA allgemein üblich sind? (Ron Pratt, Plaza Towing etc.) Meiner Meinung nach sind diese Rotators viel besser geeignet (gerade bei LKW-Unfällen) um schwere Lasten schnell und viel unkomplizierter zu bewegen. Mit dem Rotator lupfe ich jeden LKW von der Leitschiene oder hole einen Trailer aus einem Kanal und stelle ihn dahin, wo die Bergungs-Crew ihn haben will - diese Rotators sind so vielseitig und belastbar, haben alles an Bord, was man so braucht, um fast jeden Job zu bewältigen - aber nein - in Deutschland kommt da ja ein Liebherr-Ungetüm zum Einsatz. Ein Kran mit sechs (oder mehr) Achsen - unbeweglich, langsam und schwer zu handhaben. Wäre interessant, einmal eine fachliche Meinung dafür zu bekommen. Danke!
Einen sogenannten Rotator würde in diesem Fall auch keinen Vorteil bringen das dies ein sehr schwieriger Fall ist durch Platte Reifen sieht man . In Deutschland bremst der Gesetzgeber durch Gewichtsbegrenzung diese Spezialfahrzeuge aus .Einmal muss der Abschleppwagen eine Hublast erfüllen wozu eine gewisse Leermasse nicht überschritten werden darf . Beispiel 3 Achser Gesamtmasse 26000kg,Zulässig . 17000kg Leermasse zulässigeNutzlast 9 Tonnen gleich Hebelweg zirka 6 Tonnen Verfahrbare Hublast in Brille .Beim 4 Achser 35000 kg Gesamtmasse zulässig , Eigengewicht gut Gebaut ca 27000kg ist die Verfahrbare Hublast je nach Aufbau Hersteller um die 8000Kg und dazu muss die Vorderachse gut ausbalastiert werden und somit ist in Deutschland kein Platz für zusätzliches Gewicht. Und in diesem einfachen Fall wäre er auch nicht gerechtfertigt Das Verzurren ist in der Tat mangelhaft.Dieses aufnehmen ist mit dieser Aufnahmebrille die eine der ersten Systeme war recht schwierig weil sie sich nicht immer ins Rad einfügt wie man sieht , man kann aber auch nicht einfach die Bremsen lösen .Gottseidank sind die neuen besser .In diesem Fall wären Hubgabeln die bessere Wahl .Aber jedes System hat eben seine Vorteile aber auch seine Schwächen .
Deutschland gibt es keine richtige Zulassung für Rotators , achslasten für Deutschland zu schwer usw dann bekommt man ihn nur als mobilkran gelistet oder nur als awu nicht beides zusammen was sinnvoller wäre also ist es für viele Firmen nicht wirtschaftlich sich so ein Fahrzeug anzuschaffen.
Aber diese Bergung bekommt man problemlos mit einem awu hin

Stehe also kurz vor der Rente und bei solchen Texten, kann ich nur Lachen und mit dem Kopf schütteln.
Die Kilometer die ich gemacht habe, wirst du bestimmt nicht mehr in deinen Berufsleben schaffen, weil das die heutige Gesetzeslage und Verkehrsdichte gar nicht mehr zu lässt.
Und ich wette, das du ohne die ganzen modernen Helferlein noch nicht einmal einen LKW bewegt bekommen würdest.
