Unbelievable that they guys were essentially a “one off” project. They are arguably one of the best Genesis cover bands EVER. They make this song look effortless. And the ACTUAL band struggled playing this
Very, very good 👍. Seen one I think is a little better, by Crucible-- you can search it here on YT. This still is "A" for the video. I'm impressed with any band that will even attempt this song. Genesis stayed away from it, as it was too difficult live.
I’ve searched for good live versions of this song. This is hands down the best. What I would give to have been able to watch Phil play this. I can only hope there is Genesis vault footage from the studio somewhere someday.
Nice live versions by Genesis themselves do exist. They dropped it early during the 1978 tour. Perhaps because it's very straining on the voice. Phil clearly struggles. Good versions: Bloomington, Dallas rehearsal. O.K. version: Malmö, Sweden. Just search it here on YT.
Listened to it again, 2 weeks later. Before I start, I'd like to say I am a Genesis nerd and have trawled UA-cam well after being in the bootleg scene many years ago. Not that I am the best judge in the world, but i've seen many covers as well as the original band many times. This is easily the best cover I have seen of this song. You don't see Down and Out covered much, because it's not the for casual listener or player - a tough song and IMO perhaps the most underrated of all the harder Genesis songs, it's an overlooked classic by even many hardened Genesis fans because of the period the song was released and the production of the album in general. Anyway, this is easily the best cover version I have heard over the last 20 years and is up there with the real thing (I personally think it's as good as they did on the tour, musically and production wise) - everything is great, keyboards especially. You guys did a fantastic job, well done!!!
I watch every Genesis tribute and they're all good (not for beginners) but I've got say The Farm are my favourite. First, their singer is the best imo and secondly they love the band's music in the transitional phase post-Hackett and even Phil's solo stuff. Whilst the Hackett era is my favourite, there's so much guts and energy on the post ATTWT/Duke material.
My freaking lord!!! 😮 You executed flawlessly a song from a band you are covering that struggled to perform this on the ATTW3 Tour. And they gave up on it. You guys made this look like a walk in the park. All of you are insanely talented and gifted!! Such an unbelievable performance! 👏🏻
The beauty of Genesis is how they felt themselves at every step. They had Anthony Phillips at first and went along with him, Gabriel always present. After that, they added Collins and Hackett and did an amazing body of work for the RRHOF to induct them. After that, Collins, Rutherford and Banks went on producing Genesis in their own magnificent sound. What a pleasure it is to listen to musical talent like that!
Amazing on all regards. The live performance you love to see exist. The vocals are so similar to Phil, and they're too good to become a parody. The difficult high notes are belted just right. And then there were the drums of course, perfect, as are all the instruments. Yes, you did a great song a great service. Thank you.
@@themusicofgenesis Nearest version of Phil Collins voice I have ever heard. With Phil's voice gone it's great to hear this new version. Come to the US! (specifically Detroit)
I discovered your band a few weeks ago because I found your cover of , don’t lose my number, loved ‘ second home by the sea ‘ and you cover this song so well. I am a huge fan of PhIl Collins. Is this band still active? 😊
It's good to be here! How've you been? Check my bags, boy! Where's my room? I sit on the phone, that's my game, Keep up the pressure all the way! I don't want to beat about the bush but none of us are getting any younger. There's people out there who could take your place. A more commercial view! A fresher face! I need a shower, take a nap I'll meet you in the bar, we must have a rap. There's a lot on the line, a lot to say. There's something I must tell you today. You and I both know the score, you can't go on like this forever. So it's with regret that I tell you now that from this moment on, you're on your own! I don't talk round corners, it's right between the eyes If you're slow they'll run past you, Stand tall, see them falling over. I walk a straight line, it's right between the eyes. Well show me the door, show me someone who'll do it better. The drinks are on me, be my guest. Smoke a cigar? Take the best. Don't hedge your bets, we can make a deal, you got it in your pocket, how do you feel? So glad that's over, now you know, but I'm only acting under orders. And looking down on you from way up here. You've got to sink or swim, get off the floor! I don't talk round corners, it's right between the eyes If you're slow they'll run past you, Stand tall, see them falling over, I walk a straight line, right between the eyes. Well show me the door, show me someone who'll do it better.
Amazing! I love to see young guys carrying on this music for a new generation. I doubt these gents were even born when the original album was released. I saw Genesis twice on that tour and twice on the Lamb tour. Lucky bastard!
Nailed it! Every part, every sound of every instrument was spot on. Special shout out to the drummer. This is one of the toughest Genesis drum parts in a long line of tough parts.
I closed my eyes while this brilliant track played. What cover band. I'd swear it was Genesis! Heavenly ear porn. Best memories are made on 'The Farm'.
How am I just now discovering this? “Down and Out” is one of my favorite Genesis tracks, and this performance is nothing short of brilliant. 5/4 is tricky, but you guys made it look effortless.
The fucking keyboard player is spot-on just a perfect mix almost jd-800 certainly doesn't hurt to have LOL comes in with prologue from the the Roland I know I would be loving to be playing that
How wonderful is this! Wow what an amazing sound. It’s very rare for a tribute band to be this good. Every one of you are bang on the money. I would love to see you.
Fucking awesome, boys. Superbly done. Heresy, I know, but I've seen live versions of this fantastic song with less energy and passion played by the original Genesis himself. And the vocals.. oh My! I close my eyes and see Phil's voice! Amazing.
The balls on you all to play this live and then to pull it off! Fucking hell!!!!
Unbelievable that they guys were essentially a “one off” project. They are arguably one of the best Genesis cover bands EVER. They make this song look effortless. And the ACTUAL band struggled playing this
Tony Banks has even said that there are lots of musicians that play his keyboard parts better than he ever could.
Great job. The drumming is phenomenal.
This is live? Good heavens, what a stunning performance. Seriously.
Best cover I've seen so far.......great

It is an excellent cover indeed.

Check out David Hale - Genesis - Down and Out (Full Cover)
@@Tjoppy David Hale's version is most excellent - kudos to him and Chris O’Connell. But this is LIVE. One take. No fixing.
Wish these guys would tour the US

he's even doing the phil hand gestures while singing
Superb cover. Great sound.

Thanks for writing the Gettysburg Address.
@@larrylanberg3552 Sorry Larry, I didn't realise you had a word limit. If I had only known.....
@@larrylanberg3552 The Gettysburg Address is, of course, famously short.

Somebody just shared this in a Genesis group. All I can say is HOLY SHIT!
amazing version. finally a band that also performs less famous songs... I'm eagerly awaiting HEATHAZE from DUKE.
The drummer is channeling Chester. Well done.

Its a complicated song!
My very favorite post-Hackett tune of Genesis.
They are by far the best Genesis tribute band ive ever heard . Please come to the uk .
As a genesis expert and studio drummer you guys nailed it
thanks bro! 🙏
thanks bro! 🙏
GOOD JOB!!!
This makes the material off this album seem way more powerful. Credit to these performers.
I love And then there Were Three, and this is a great song, and a truly superb rendition by the Farm.

For the love of all things sacred, this KILLS! Almost effortless for such a tricky song. Amazing!
Best cover I've heard. Keep up the good work guys!

Such a great cover of an underrated song! It sounds very near to the original, which is not an easy job (I think).

The keyboards sounds almost like 1992 tour, so it's a well imagination of what would this song sound like in the WCD Tour.
