The birthday season continues and this time I went for an even crazier timepiece with the Astronomia Sky by Jacob & Co. This tourbillon watch is indeed pretty bold not only in terms of its size and volume, but mechanically speaking there is a lot of things happening in it.
Obviously this is not your most discreet watch, but nevertheless I find it cool that some do dare to produce such eccentric timepieces, yet another example of proper watchmaking creativity and craft.
The movement comprises of no less than 400 components and despite the intense activity going on in it, this watch still bares a power reserve of 60 hours.

I think that This piece should be valued and apreciated more as a work of art , rather than just a watch, as I consider it to be very unconventional and non practical, yet the engineering and art that is present in the machine is phenomenal, no doubt for those who can bear such a piece should be purchased.Thanks for the review and keep sharing more videos please.

When you have it you also show us that you are not the peasant that have to bother about keeping the time, not that you don't have the appointments or time to catch, but because you also have someone that keep track of those things so you can let your thoughts wander on in the things that really interrestests and benefits you, when you you have passed the stages as rich and wealthy and can put an ultra in front of those words.

I think some people may be missing the point of this watch. Strictly speaking, I wouldn't even consider it a watch. This is a show of engineering prowess and ingenuity from Jacob & Co. It's a work of art and an incredible achievement in the world of watch making. I don't think it's meant to be casually worn, rather, it's meant to be shown on display and admired, which is most likely why it comes with such an extravagant display box.
Yes, that's a very good way of looking at it, an extreme demonstration of creativity and craftsmanship!!

Anyone comparing their Casio's and Timex's to this masterpiece of engineering are completely missing the point and may as well go elsewhere with their negativity. If I won the lottery I would be putting my order in tomorrow. Incredible creation and thanks for sharing in this video. I might never own one but I can at least understand it.

Oh to be you lol. What a magnificent piece and well deserved. I am currently building a larger model of the movement with my 3D printer and am amazed at the complexity. I would like to own the Jacob&Co skull Astronomia in the future as it looks pirate like. Even though I can only tell digital time, I love the craftsmanship of the watch.

I just fell in love with this watch from the moment I saw it at the jewellery shop in London. Can’t believe is super expensive. I just love it. It’s the most beautiful watch I have ever seen. If anyone knows where can I find the copy of this one and much more economic, I would appreciate. They don’t have this one in Ali Express.

This makes me wonder if you could have a watch brand that made watches that don't actually tell the time, but were just beautiful, intricate moving mechanisms. A $2 digital watch would I'm sure tell the time more accurately than this, so accurate timekeeping is a pretty distant secondary function with watches like this to just being something beautiful and hypnotic.
i have said this many times elsewhere and i'm going to say it again, this needs to be offered in a pocket watch version.
1) it would almost be usable
2) it would be just as cool, but with the added benefit that you wouldn't look like a dork carrying it
3) the tourbillon would actually serve a horological purpose rather than just being eye candy (not that there's anything wrong with eye candy)
4) the inherent theatrics of pulling this watch from a vest pocket, on a long platinum chain would be the perfect introduction to showing off this ultimate conversation piece.
5) if it WAS available as a pocket watch, i would buy 5 or 6 different versions of it.
ok, #5 is complete hogwash, but i stand firm on the other 4

I knew of this watch years ago but never knew it came in that size box with the asteroid display case. I would love to just be able to buy the asteroid. @@user-zl2sc3bg3g yes its bold! Either you hate it or love it. Mechanically it's amazing I think Jacob had to choose a bold presentation to avoid comparison with more traditional design (big) brands, and they succeed it has character.

Honestly spoken i like the reveal with the aperture more than the watch itself. The watch is beautifully made, but definitely not my style. Not your worry though and I wish you all the happiness with this special watch!
Just one question: The constellations are based on the northern hemisphere. Does that mean there is no market for this piece on the southern sphere or can you choose depending on where you live?
