- Mayor Eric Adams warned that the raging migrant crisis will “destroy” New York City and tore into President Biden for ignoring his pleas for help, saying the White House has given “no support” for the thousands of asylum seekers arriving each month.
“I’m gonna tell you something, New Yorkers, never in my life have I had a problem that I didn’t see an ending to. I don’t see an ending to this,” Adams said at a town hall on the Upper West Side Wednesday night. “This issue will destroy New York City. Destroy New York City.”
Hizzoner took aim at Biden for not stepping in with federal assistance as the city has received more than 110,000 migrants in the past year.
“Month after month I stood up and said this is gonna come to a neighborhood near you. Well, we’re here, we’re getting no support on this national crisis, and we’re receiving no support,” Adams said.
Adams also blasted Texas Gov. Greg Abbott as a “madman” for busing illegal border crossers to New York and other liberal cities.

I am a 71 year old happy retiree, and we have one community center which is really not utilized much. I wouldn't have anything against having migrants living there, and in return they can volunteer some yard work for us while learning English. Their women can do a lot of work without English for extra cash on a side.
That's a state problem, so NY should lash out money for their own problem, they welcomed the immigrants, it's NY's consequence. USA should not give money to NY. Their own City should lash out their money for that.

Record numbers are being caught and turned away. The problem is that there are record numbers of asylum seekers and US law requires they be given due process. Biden has tried to get more funding to speed up that process but been denied. An bipartisan attempt was made to reform immigration law in 2014 - during the Obama administration - but the tea party crew refused to support it. We desperately need immigration reform, but it's become a hot potato and republicans love to use it as a wedge issue so they will never allow any reform.

New York is a sanctuary city and must live up to those standards, as well as San Francisco and LA. You simply cannot go back on your policies that were promised to everyone, and then change your mind because you forgot to do the math.
