It took me years, lots of paperwork, medical tests, background checks, most of my lifes savings and many visits to the INS offices before being granted the privilege of taking an oath of allegiance and becoming a US Citizen. Honor, integrity and the utmost respect for the rules and laws should be required by anyone who desires to be part of our nation.

Respectfully speaking, is Japan having a similar problem with migration due to declining birth rates? That being said, I live in upstate NY so I understand you completely on NYC. Governor Kathy "Hochus Pocal" has been sending them where I'm at too. Some are polite, but a bunch of the ones I deal with think we need to follow their rules without any regards to our "melting pot" culture.

I am an engineer and my wife is a nurse practitioner and we have one son. We both have masters degrees and have been working since we graduated. We paid our taxes, became debt free not too long ago from student loans and worked our asses off and we are living paycheck to paycheck in California paying almost 2k a month for daycare and paying our mortgage in a tiny home. Can’t believe it has come down to this where we can’t live comfortably when we are giving our tax money to other countries wars and migrants receiving free housing and money.. unbelievable.

While working on a visa I worked on my green card process and paid thousands of dollars, had to be interviewed in abroad embassies and lots of money in attorney fees. To be FAIR, Staten Island is fairly conservative compared to most of the NYC. There were even talks about them seceding from NY state to NJ. In fact, NYC contains close to 40% of the the entire state's population and as a result, the entire state is often beholden to the ultra liberal policies because of votes from this city. This is why the Electoral College is set up....the entire nation will not be held hostage by a few populous states.

I am a veteran myself with 3 young children, I work days and nights to take care of and pay bills for the whole family. Never expect any free handouts from anyone. Many are rich, but I am not, I struggle and I get by and am very thankful I still have enough health and strength to care for my children day to day.
