It always bothered me how the nerve gear was able to kill in the maybe 1/4th of a second it would take to remove the headgear. You would need actual EXPLOSIVES to do that, not a supercapacitor and a microwave emitter. If the problem was microwaves, you could just slide a thin film that was microwave impenetrable, like the coating on a microwave door, under the headset even if the emitter was magically that deadly. If THAT didn't work, you could drill the case and cut the capacitor's line into the emitter manually. If they were able to take the people offline long enough to take them to hospitals, they could take them offline long enough to fry some electronics.
That's the part that's hard for us engineers to take at face value. We can design things that could destroy the things WAY faster than it could ever hope to fire off. If we can design rockets to reach the moon, the mechanical engineering required to take of a headset quickly is a piece of cake by comparison. Someone made an interesting argument that there would be a large portion of the population that wouldn't want to take the risk, or that Kayaba would interfere, it's just a hard thing to take seriously when you consider how simple the mechanisms would be and just how lucky Kayaba would have to be for all of this to work. Still, suspending our disbelief on the matter is what makes science fiction enjoyable to an extent so it can't really be helped. Then again, my final conclusion is still that it is very much possible to be trapped in VR, even without a crazy terrorist like Kayaba involved. Sad to say, but non-zero number of people are going to die in real life from being trapped in full dive level VR devices without having family there to save them.
Virtual Dreamers I fully agree with us being able to destroy whatever mechanism was set up faster than it would be triggered so the only explanation I could come up with would be a killall switch that instantly triggers the death of all users if only one person was disconnected prematurely. But even this could probably be circumvented in some way.
We could create something to destroy the kills switch but in Sao it can detect tampering and for example when everything in the world has a frequency at which the particles vibrate and drilling releases a different frequency than the nerve gear would have and creating something to pick up on that would be just as easy so with that in mind if it can detect the difference in frequency and then trigger it the millisecond that it does how are you going to disarm it if you can’t drill break or cut into it along with anything else that could cause a change in frequency and also the nerve gear had cameras on it to scan your face so they could be used to essential watch what is happening so it could be that it’s just genuinely being watched as well so it can be manually triggered if your seen tampering with it

I feel like you missed answering something else: How are you going to cope with a software disabling the ability to log out, if you're completely by yourself. I mean, you can't "just" snap out of full dive, can you? How would you be able to? So if there's no possibility to log out inside of the nerve gear, and let's say your battery is being charged indefinitely long, are you stuck forever?!!
To answer your question, yes. Being trapped is an intrinsic problem to Full Dive. Hackers and mad men like Kayaba are just a particularly nasty subsection of the problem. A glitch or a bug could just as much have been responsible for the SAO incident as Kayaba. Arguably would have been worse since there wouldn’t be the built in escape method of clearing the game to save everyone. They all would have just been kept on life support till death or died in the game eventually. If a glitch or system failure removes your software log out ability, you’ll be at the mercy of any firmware, hardware, or external rescue methods to survive. Kirito mentions in the first episode that he likely would have his mom or sister notice and remove him from the system, though Kayaba disabled that option. Even if they hadn’t, people like Klein who lived alone would have no choice but to try and get others to save them. Otherwise, all that awaits someone who doesn’t have the ability or desire to log out is death from dehydration or even a blood clot with a week or so. The mention at the start of season 2 that this was a problem that was happening. There’s a good and a bad to everything in life. Full Dive be is an amazing concept, but it’s not free of these concerns. People WILL die from hacks, glitches, or even addiction/obsession trapping them in VR. People have already been hurt or even died from not paying attention to reality using AR. A self driving car has killed someone. This does not mean the tech is evil or bad, but rather that we may take precautions to mitigate the risks of using them. People drive everyday despite knowing its the single most likely thing to kill them they do in a day. Future tech’s got to earn that confidence and reliance too.
I did scientific research and honestly I don’t see full dive coming in a short time because there are so many factors to think about and it would either be impossible or take like 20 more years
That's more or less where my expectations lay as well, and that's heavily dependent on the continual growth of processors and nanotechnology without any hiccups. There's a lot of underestimating going around in the community on the magnitude of the problem, but there's also a lot of underestimating going on with regards to what we can enjoy without going all the way to the level of Full Dive with VR tech.
Virtual Dreamers yea and if we get people like elon musk and zuckerburg investing in full dive technology it would make it even more possible we just need rich people who wanna make it happen
@@spoonspoontastic7128 petition to make every one who’s rich and in the tech industry watch sao multiple times until they are hooked on the idea ?? Maybe just a thought
This is morbid, people who want to play because it can kill you. Surely it's illegal? Might as well play Russian roulette in real life because I'm bored.
If it ends up like sao hopefully you are good looking in real life. Asuna pretty much made her character in her exact image and kirito just made his character look like a cleaner version of himself. Dont wanna end up like that “couple” who ended up just being two random dudes hahahaha
The amount of power needed is not a problem it can be solved in two ways. One batteries can put out massive amounts of power in short bursts especially lithium batteries used in most consumer electronics. The other way using components known as capacitors that are found in all consumer electronics. What a capacitor does is store power like a battery but unlike a battery it can release all of power almost instantly. Presumably the nerve gear being a headset you can plug it to power permanently and being a headset that is probably very power hungry it would have a power supply that has very large capacitors. It wouldn’t be too unreasonable that just before manufacture there was a small design tweak that no one would notice as no one would think to look for it until its too late. This design tweak would connect the power supply capacitors directly to the microwave emitters with code that executes as soon as it detects tampering of the nerve gear.
Just make it that people wouldn't die and lose all their progress and lose all their memory about what happened to then die in game or just reset progress.
Hey there. I'm in my first year of college, studying Computer Science, and your videos are what got me pumped enough to go down this field in the first place. I love the idea of full dive VR, and want to contribute in what way I can once I've learnt enough. Itd really help, if you could tell me what all I should study/ practice in computers, or coding as such...or what points to look out for. I currently know c, and am in the process of learning Python.
Honestly the programming part should be all figured out already. The problem is that we need a better understanding of the brain so neurology would be the best bet to help advance full dive
if it happened, ima be fr, i'd probably kill myself from pressure, but i also might just not do anything and wait till somebody finds a way to get us out, or i'd join a guild
A fever of 108 fahrenheit can cause convulsions or death, 10 degrees Celsius is fiffy in fahrenheit, so if wha this video says is true, the nervegear just might friggin work...
If it's as the show presents, maybe, if he got lucky. By IRL logic though, the very principles of the NerveGear don't work so this video is more just entertaining the idea than it is making a meaningful analysis of reality (basically what Game Theory is)
couldn't they have escaped by having someone irl dunk their head in ice water or am i just stupid and thats the same as putting a plugged in toaster in a bath with you in it
If its safe i would play it if i could leave and pause the game it would work because it was just putting your character froze and can't take damage but for no pause logs there would be a 30 minutes cooldown to pause the game.
Once your VR rig is operational, how do you plan to model physics accurately enough to translate muscle movements into motion in a game? How do you address the problem of modeling, say, the weight of the player's own body and translating that into feedback through the system? How will you model friction accurately enough to allow someone to walk?
I legit would not mind death game SAO, sure dying would suck but your living in a world on your own with other gamers... uhm PLEASE I honestly would mind being trapped in a game like that (it's soso vast) my real life does somewhat suck so it would hurt if I died and I couldnt say anything to my family, BUT being able to run around and have fun all while playing killer monsters trying to avoid death, YES PLEASE
Technically you’d only need a about 0.018 Wh battery to get the power for your scenario at ~ 6:00 since you only need to output 644.644W for 0.1 seconds so the battery size wouldn’t be a problem. But I’d highly doubt that any headgear that’s capable of blasting over 600W of energy directly into one’s brain would be allowed to be sold commercially so I agree with your statement that killing the user would not really be possible in our reality.
you die in the game you die in the real world. then there's the other since your body in the real world is slowing starving and killing itself. you die in the real world you die in the game. something some people don't remember, which is a reason why some of the people died in SAO.
Oh yeah, that's only besides the possibility to just take information out of someone's head. If anyone think for anything in the game, the information choud be easily taken out of their head. Even if it's just a memory. The nervegear basicly transfers brain power from the real world to your character in the game, but still leaving your body alive, and the players did get hungry in the game with their body in the real world, so there is some connection between the two. Also there are lethal points in the brain, that if you hit in game terms is instakill. In the game this is like your life from max to under zero, you are dead. Such things happen with stuff like if you get hit by 32k enchantment sharpness sword in minecraft, by trillions damage kinda glich-crafted sword in skyrim and other simular examples. You die before you realize you are dead, basicly. Have a nice playing when the technology comes out, but I'm not sure will I ever play, or I'll at least wait... A few years, decades, and maybe a few eons, cuz you know, I'm breaking every rule made by the nature, and I'm planning naturally to live like (some random over 80 cymbols number) thousant decades XD (naaah, I'm joking lol). But still, have a nice game = )
If this happen in real life I'm wondering if some survivors would who were orange players wanting revenge on the green players for killing their friends or family would this happened?
You are pretty much wrong, in the real world, people could get in the server through ssh and just disengage the software even if the ceo guy removed all ssh access, people would find ways to exploit the servers and get access, hacking can go pretty far and we would definitely find ways to shut down the whole thing on top of that, nothing prevents anyone from disasembling the headset whilst it is on someone and cutting the curent before it can fry a brain or even hack the headset to disable it in a more desirable way either through software or hardware. Also a 600w device wouldn't pass fda but you could kill someone without frying their brain if you can control the neurons.
There's nothing wrong with full dive virtual reality. People say it's bad and makes You loose Your sense of Self and stuff but can't even think a level higher and try to connect with their actual soul/spirituality stuff instead of the 'world' that they're trying to stop video games from distracting us from. There is no difference between video games/art and real life and You can do what You want so long as You maintain 'Yourself' which IS NOT any 'world' or game.
I have a whole video on how VR doesn't change who you are on the inside, but rather lets you explore yourself in more depth. Ashamed to say it, but it's looking likely that VR and AR are next on the chopping block after the "Video games cause violence" argument loses it's steam...
@@VirtualDreamers I swear these anti 'game'/imagination types are the bane of society, we need such escapist mediums to help us discover ourselves and grow as individuals and as a society, we had psychedelics in the mid to late nineties but these idiots just took it away from us and they can't stand games and VR too. Other things like school and religion are just too slow in my opinion and people could take some time to must ponder on greater things if they weren't so held up by their 'duties', the same ones they're being told to get lost in instead of their 'games' which are no worse than and potentially better than their 'duties'.
I’d raver that than die in say a car crash or drowning there’s so many painful ways to die in the real world but for full dive your body would be paralysed so you wouldn’t feel anything
IF Sao came to us in this world in 2022 would Kirito and the others be REAL not Ai.. I've been thinking about this alot but altering there lifes may be a bad thing but I'm not sure what will happen if we know That kayaba(Heathcliff) would look the same it would be really BAD if we kill him on the 1st floor bc the others wouldn't had met and mess up there future of there history... If they are real in SAO but not Ai it would be glad to be friends and not tell him or the others that they are really famous on this world we are living at....
If SAO happened irl, the devs would be dumb to put a hero in the mmo that is already determined. I say so because one joy of playing mmos is imagining yourself as the hero of the story. Thus they would completely kill any player motivation. Also, for people who would want to play a death game for the adrenaline like that one chick from GGO (I forgot her name) the risk would be completely negated because we would have an entire timeline of the game. Also, to address the being friends with kirito and telling him he's famous in our world would (if following sao plot and insinuating they using the soul thing from actualization) the soul/ai would die out of the concussion of being a doppelganger from a different world. In conclusion, no, they wouldn't even be in the game. It would completely ruin the fun.
Idk about you but Id never buy a gaming product if it has the potential to kill me. I don't think most people would either, or would it even be legal. I think if full dive is ever created, it won't be capable of killing you.

Now I'm scared of the Oculus Quest 2's battery blowing up.
I just came to see the comments
To know Who is watching
HOLY, THIS SEEMS LIKE SOMETHING I WOULD ACTUALLY GRIND ON.............
We are actually moving backwards from the anime we developed AR first then MR, in the anime they developed MR then AR
Kayaba looks like Elon musk
Who knows maybe musk will make sao and a nerve gear and trap us.
Dont wanna end up like that “couple” who ended up just being two random dudes hahahaha
mark zuckerberg after everyone is in full dive vr: "The time has come, execute order 66"
I will love to live in the underworld because it’s very interesting
I get trapped in sao:
Me: alright which one of you has the tag ballzdeep69? You gonna get it for talking shit about my mother!
Idk virtual boy was pretty close
Oh God. I remember virtual boy. Crazy how far VR has come already.
I wonder... is it possible to create MMO called "The World" from the .//hack series for VR? it would be cool if that was possible.
It's well within reason. Just a matter of whose going to pay for it.
*blame Kayaba*
Hype for Zenith VR, hope there's a log off button when I join day one
Question for everybody, what guild would you join and why?
Happy Halloween!
Just make it that people wouldn't die and lose all their progress and lose all their memory about what happened to then die in game or just reset progress.
I would definitely survive with my kickboxing classes I took
Let's study to detah for making a VR game where people are forced to play it since they will be killed of they exit
So what you’re telling me is to wait for the Amusphere to come out first
Well even if we add death factor, we still have control over hp
Like we can increase them as much as we want, through main system
New people: NOOOOOOOOO
Sao fans:guys are time as come :)
Lol 😂😂😂
Lol for real tho
TL;DW: VR technology isn't developed enough yet to fully dive into a game and it might take a few decades or even longer until we get to this point.
This is exactly why the AmuSphere didn't have an internal battery.
m 15 right now. i hope full dive can become reality b4 i die. i would be soo happy if it happens anytime b4 2040
Once your VR rig is operational, how do you plan to model physics accurately enough to translate muscle movements into motion in a game? How do you address the problem of modeling, say, the weight of the player's own body and translating that into feedback through the system? How will you model friction accurately enough to allow someone to walk?
I will never regret iven my life depends on the game i will still play it jist to feel what kirito feel when they sleep while playing online
a watt hour is 3600 J/s a 100 watt hour laptop is 360,000 j/s
I legit would not mind death game SAO, sure dying would suck but your living in a world on your own with other gamers... uhm PLEASE I honestly would mind being trapped in a game like that (it's soso vast) my real life does somewhat suck so it would hurt if I died and I couldnt say anything to my family, BUT being able to run around and have fun all while playing killer monsters trying to avoid death, YES PLEASE
It's all fine when the laughing coffin starts laughing
Technically you’d only need a about 0.018 Wh battery to get the power for your scenario at ~ 6:00 since you only need to output 644.644W for 0.1 seconds so the battery size wouldn’t be a problem. But I’d highly doubt that any headgear that’s capable of blasting over 600W of energy directly into one’s brain would be allowed to be sold commercially so I agree with your statement that killing the user would not really be possible in our reality.
In short: yes, you can.
This is literally Saw levels in horrifying results.
you die in the game you die in the real world. then there's the other since your body in the real world is slowing starving and killing itself. you die in the real world you die in the game. something some people don't remember, which is a reason why some of the people died in SAO.
About this,
Hopefully someone can make the sacrifice and trap us in sao then fry their brain when everyone gets out
You guys have to think like the starvr and internal battery that blows up when you lose/die or remove headset.
So, about that...
Hey man, what if the source of power for the headset is external? For example, powered directly from the grid rather than a battery.
Then there would be no problems whatsoever, they could cut the power and be done with it. They mentioned it right in the first episode.
With the apple vision pro, I'm pretty sure we will be stuck in a game in 2023
Me got stuck in SAO Me:HUH I HAVE ADMINN COMMANDS SO ILL CHEAT
I doubt it could really happen because how could the helmet work fast enough to microwave someone's brain if someone tried to remove it quickly.
Full Dive + quick remove would possibly damage your brain and mentality itself..
You are pretty much wrong, in the real world, people could get in the server through ssh and just disengage the software
even if the ceo guy removed all ssh access, people would find ways to exploit the servers and get access, hacking can go pretty far and we would definitely find ways to shut down the whole thing
on top of that, nothing prevents anyone from disasembling the headset whilst it is on someone and cutting the curent before it can fry a brain or even hack the headset to disable it in a more desirable way either through software or hardware.
@@VirtualDreamers
I swear these anti 'game'/imagination types are the bane of society, we need such escapist mediums to help us discover ourselves and grow as individuals and as a society, we had psychedelics in the mid to late nineties but these idiots just took it away from us and they can't stand games and VR too. Other things like school and religion are just too slow in my opinion and people could take some time to must ponder on greater things if they weren't so held up by their 'duties', the same ones they're being told to get lost in instead of their 'games' which are no worse than and potentially better than their 'duties'.
Ok so I could die using the head gear I would be so scared but happy at the same Time
I’d raver that than die in say a car crash or drowning there’s so many painful ways to die in the real world but for full dive your body would be paralysed so you wouldn’t feel anything
what if this world we currently live in. hoping to eventually get full dive VR. is actually full dive. I mean we cant tell. since its parlizes.
If sao was made by ea
Is it bad that I want to he in the SAO incident?
Lol
Me too
Me too. Lol 😂
Same.
Brother I know you know every thing but in the future you know everything is possible if you ask me
Awesome!
Good stuff
I want the anime life mordan the real life
Idk about you but Id never buy a gaming product if it has the potential to kill me. I don't think most people would either, or would it even be legal. I think if full dive is ever created, it won't be capable of killing you.
I hope I get stuck in the game
Carefull what you wish for!
