My tripod fell and the bottom panel popped out of its place. I could fix it after watching your video. Thanks a million.
The panel that attaches to the tripod fell apart. Couldn’t have accomplished replacing the side panel without your guidance!
Big Thanks!
That makes my day! Thanks for sharing your success!!!
I added a 👍. I've got an AX-33 and was intrigued about the differences and similarities of the disassembly process. The bottom plate of a 33 suffers from the same problem of a breakable plastic screw mount covering. The difference is that the plastic base is standalone. So with the new plastic part the camera's ID plate is also lost. I too kept the camera's ID, but I don't think I will be selling a 2015 AX-33. BTW, it still works well and remain my A camera. I use a DSC-HX99 for B footage.
Agreed with all your thoughts. My AX53's plate is now cracked again so its just the fault of their AX line I guess. Still a great camera and my daily driver when I need nailed auto focus on the run.
Is it normal for the lens to point sideways when it off ?
Yep! Mine is sitting in front of me right now and its lens is sideways. No problems with that my friend!
@@LegacyStudio weird design choice.
Hiya, this is extremely useful thank you. My problem is the base where the tripod fixes has cracked a bit and the quick release foot on the tripod was causing the camera base to distort. When that happened the touch screen stopped responding to my fingers though it still displayed. So I had the crazy fault where the screen was fine off the tripod but touch not working with it on the tripod. This situation developed over a couple of months, I guess as the camera base was getting 'tired' and distorting more. Anyway I figured it out and changed the tripod fixing (the bit on the tripod) so it does not distort the camera base now but the touch screen can still be temperamental. I was going to dismantle it thinking there would be a ribbon cable dislodged or something but looking at your vid around the tripod fixing on the cam base it does not look like that. Any advice please? It may keep working now with just the occasional trouble so it is a balance of risk. Cheers Paul
That is the fault of this camera for sure. My base of my camera is cracking as well. Thankfully it isn't effecting my screen (yet) but I ended up fixing it in another video where I made an epoxy mix and spread it on the bottom of the camera to keep it from cracking further. That has been a successful fix for me personally. If I was in your shoes I'd look at finding a replacement screen and dismantling the camera to replace it. Between that and the epoxy baseplate I think you could get a few more years out of your camera.
Appreciate the content. I also have the camera. From day one when I would turn it off and restart it i would have to remove the battery and reinsert. Sony does not do the work on it and ALL BUT ONE SHOP have this model on a do not work order from Sony. There is only one company that you can have the work repair and that is Connecticut. Anyhow I sent it to them for repair one month later i got it back in same condition. They didn't fix. I then resent it back explaining they did nothing and then another two weeks later they sent it back with a letter saying they could not recreate the issue when they tested it. WTF. They could not see what I was saying. So I'm looking at this current video for fixing the card reader as mine just is the same now and just stay with the camera and screw with the battery. Thanks for your content
Youch, good luck my friend. Thats a rough situation hands down, not to mention sending your equipment off to nowhere with zero result. I hate that. I had that with an older laptop of mine and its amazing how people can claim they have fixed the problem, or cant find it. Sadly mine was just to replace the plastic housing of my SD card side of the camera. Sorry if it was useless to you. Hopefully it helped with disassembly at least.
@@LegacyStudio nah it wasn't useless learning something new is always good. stay good brother appreciate the content
I feel your pain, brother! I'd rather dig in and try and fix something myself. I learn more about how it works and feel a sense of accomplishment when it works! I fix older tape camcorders for those who want to transfer tapes to computer, but am using an FDR-AX53 for more recordings now. I have two of them. One, the focus isn't working - probably dropped, and the other doesn't record in 4K (crashes). I can piece two together and make one OR fix them both! And yes, when it doesn't work out, you feel like it's a waste of time or make things worse. But, it's what we do! Win some, lose some - win most hopefully :)
Absolutely, win most hopefully. The fact we are willing to give it a shot says more about us than anything. LOL! The uncertain is the adventure we are not afraid of. Get after it and good luck!
You're a lifesaver. Thank you so much.
Got a great deal on a used AX53, however it’s missing the hand belt. Doesn’t seem to be really an easy way to attach a replacement without taking the whole panel off….any ideas or suggestions?
Hi
Your video helped me a lot in disassembling and assembling my AX53 camera
Still I could not solve the problem I have.
The touch screen does not respond, so it is not possible to access and change menus.
The camera works properly including the display on the screen.
I ordered a new screen and replaced it and I still have the same problem.
I would love to receive your advice.
Thanks
I doubt I can offer much advice... I'm a tinkerer. I wish you luck on what you do next because it sounds like you took the steps I would have taken.
Hi, im from México, I need the same piece that you changed.
Where I Buy this piece?
Sorry, Im not good for English.
Thanks
why can't they record to an external disk. karten slot broke and now I'm without a camera?
Did anybody replace the SD Card Slot so far? My girlfriends broke down on here cam and Im considering if i should try and fix. Would really apreciate and Kind of tip and advice ❤
I love your videos. I have a question since your took yours apart. How would i put a hand strap back on. I bough one with it missing. Thanks for your help.
My door is LCD screen door is loose on the Sony FDR-AX53, is there a way to tighten up that hinge, is there screws that can become loose that cause this?
Hmmm. That one I am not so sure about. I release one screw to release the side panel from the body that is in that same area. I have not seen the inner workings of the door itself and its hinge system. But i would guess if it feels loose even if the door is open or closed and wiggles a little, it may just need to be tightened up at the hinge point. If it is more floppy all the way through opening it, that would tell me the hinge system has gone bad and I would be looking for a replacement.
@@LegacyStudio it's loose when open, when closed against the body it's tight. One screw? Man it took like 10+ screws just to release that body panel that the lcd screen sits against. lol Then when I looked inside, there's a cable that's connected to the inners. Sucks these camcorders aren't easy to work on! Yeah the hinge system could have gone bad, sad, only after one year of use. Had some old timer at a camera shop look at it, problem he said is labor costs as much as the camcorder is worth, I'm like this one is worth almost a grand. I just walked out with attitude like that, I've seen plenty of online shops that work on the FDR-AX53, sad I can't find one locally. It's sad that quality camcorders like the FDR-AX53 don't get more respect. I don't have time hauling different lenses around when I go fishing, I just need one camcorder that can zoom in really good, the FDR-AX53 is perfect for that. Thanks for the input!
@@EternalAngler That stinks! I tried searching around and I couldnt find any replacement hinges anywhere. What a bummer. Plenty of replacement screens but its just the screen and none of the assembly. Only other theory I would have is look for part numbers and see if you can find it via part number instead of generic search terms. I wish you the best of luck!
@@LegacyStudio Thanks for the tip, yeah I'll figure something out, maybe just add an extra hinge of some sort.
@@EternalAngler hi i have the same problem too feels like the metal slats dont sit tight with each other but also have no screw placements to tighten just random holes? did u manage to figure out the problem?
Cool. I love my AX53. I got mine from a seller who worked for enterprise rent a car and it was left in a rental. I don't know how he acquired it. But I paid 1/2 the cost for it.
Also
How do you remove the hinge from the housing for the hot/cold shoe flap. I removed the flap but the little hinge is what I want to remove. It just gets in the way.
I have the same camera, however the touchscreen started not working. When i turn the power on , screen shows Recover Memory Data. It won't allow me to touch OK nor Cancel. How can I fix this scenario?
I have seen a ton of replacement screens for this camera. Bet you could replace it yourself.
Just had this happen to me this past week. Did you solve your problem?? HELP!!!!!
The bottom panel is easy to break. How did you make it cracking? Anyway, very informative. Thank you.
No idea. I assume it came that way when I bought the camera used on amazon. Didn’t realize it when I got it.
Please help! I have the C:13:01 error!!
Something has broke inside the part where the SD card goes in on my AX53. I'm watching this to see if how easy/difficult it is to access the camera.
did you fix it?
@@aristos45 No. To access that part you need to take the whole camera apart which I did then couldn't put it together again.
show us how to replace the sd slot?
This is the second video I watch of yours about this camera, and on both of them, the audio is out of sync.
Watched another video on your channel, just to see if it was ok, and it seemed to be ok.
