  • In this video, we discuss the third-generation Tacoma, how it is hauling a lot more weight, and what modification is needed to combat that. We are talking about upgraded brakes for the Toyota Tacoma, specifically the Power Brakes D-Line.

I run my Tacoma with a Four Wheel camper which is @ 900 lbs. Safety is most important with weight and stopping distances. I’ve driven to the tip and back twice and can verify how stopping is super important with the way they drive in Baja! Never drive at night, slow down and always stop at stop signs. Obey the speeds( kilometers) as the police are always on the lookout for gringos braking the law.

I’m an older man and on a fixed income, so I have to save up for things to modify my 23 Tacoma TRD Off Road, double cab with the Premium and Technology pkgs.
I started saving up for it in 11 right after I bought our Ranger XLT super cab 4WD that was mainly used for work around our property.
We (I) Love to go 4 wheeling, camping and fishing.
My wife’s idea of “roughing” it is a Holiday Inn, as does most of my friends wives.

How much does your Tacoma weigh when all fitted out? Very worthwhile video!

I have the powerbrake D line brakes, outstanding performance and better stopping power compared to oem, and I am running a front and rear C4 steel bumper with swingout, 34" tires, and roof rack. Highly recommend!

I can't find the brake pads on the Powerbrake's website. When the pads need to be replaced, would I need to purchase both rotors and pads, or do they offer pads only? Can’t see myself forking out $810 every time the pads wear out.

    Thanks for the video.
Q; with the pads being bigger, where would one go for replacements when needed?

If you get the big brake kit from powerbrakes you would buy replacement parts when needed directly from them (rotors, pads).

Why didn't you go with a six-piston system like Wilwood? What's the advantage with the PB D Line?

Need a mishimoto 2-row radiator too. Stock radiator will not be enough in summer.

Will these work with 16” wheels?

Yes they will, direct OEM replacement on the D line series.

If you add the larger calipers, you need to increase your wheel size to 17” or the calipers will rub
