I am a resident of Thalassery who misses the Karnataka dosa, idli Vada etc. Not a single place in entire Kerala where you can find them in their authentic style.Its a graveyard for vegetarians.

To start of with the Banana Bhajji and Masala Vada . I am sure in terms of the dishes that you ordered , you would have preferred the Mutton Biryani ( spice laden ) , Chicken 🍗 and then the CB . I am surprised that the restaurant offers Chamundi to pair with the Biryani . Was there no gravy or did I miss it ? It’s wonderful , nonetheless, to have such a wonderful lunch with your buddies . Oh good to know the background on naming the restaurant as Paris . Agree this Biryani would have been much lighter . Oh Kalathappam is sold out . The Kinnathappam looks good and tempting . I love any sweet dish with Jaggery . Oh now time for your 2nd pit stop at a Tea stall - Potato Bonda , Onion Bhajji with Special Chaaya . Don't form separate mallu groups. Assimilate with the local population. You won't find more friendly and hospitable people than kannadigas anywhere.

As an social human I guess I'll succeed in being as much kannadiga as possible, and is very much looking forward to it. Already done the same with Punjab. But over there food was a concern. But here in Mysuru,somany great food places to explore. The greatest barrier to learn Kannada is the proficiency in Hindi of Kannadigas. They'll spot that you're not a Kannadiga just by a glance and start speaking in Hindi,afterwhich I'm left with no other option. But still, being aware that the learning curve is long and approaching slowly will sure help , I hope. Thank you so much sir. I'll happily remind myself to come back and type in my experiences after a few months .

There’s also a Hotel de Paris in calicut near the Palayam area which was a regular haunt of ours in the past. Authentic thalassery biryani.. awesome video of the ride and food.. Some might disagree but biriyani has never been kerala's strong point. You could try tea, snacks, fresh sea food, beef, mutton and chicken in this order. And some fresh toddy along with some spicy dish.
