A reminder for anyone wanting to play the OG call of duty’s on pc, any game like BO2, MW2, MW3 etc has a remote code execution bug allowing anyone to hack into your PC with full system access. These games, with this exploit unpatched, are being sold at full price on steam today. They are selling a virus to you knowingly.
@@OhJesting yeah plutonium is fine, windows detects it as a virus but its fine. ive had it since release and do frequent file scans and i have never gotten anything specifically from bo2 plutonium
@@OhJesting plutonium is safe. But Activision shut it down. That’s the problem. The official release becomes unsafe to play, the community creates a 3rd party client to run the game without the RCE bugs. Activision sends a C&D letter and the 3rd party client gets shut down. Dangerous, RCE filled official game is allowed though. Fuck Activision.
The fact that Activision had already remastered the MW2 multiplayer when they did the campaign but never released it because they knew it would draw from their other future releases for years to come is just the most reprehensible thing a developer has ever done. “We know you’d like this so much that you won’t play our other games, so, you can’t have it.”
No they didn't release it because they were unsure if they should fix the broken meta's the game used to run and bugs or to just keep them. They literally released MW1 remastered, ppl are still going to play their new games because that wasn't the case with MW
Literally the most greedy thing I think I’ve ever seen a company do. Put a sale on the game knowing full well people are looking forward to the mod just to shut the project down once the sale ended. Disgusting
You gotta give props to Activision they really know how to milk money from their customers literally let people play the mod that people are excited for fully knowing they will shut it down when the sale ends that’s some super villain shit right there
Jev, you cannot continue to support a company like this, you cannot continue to, in good faith, advertise their games anymore by uploading content from their games. They do not protect their consumers, in fact they prey on them, as seen above. I cannot support someone affiliated with Activision in this way. Call of Duty must be boycotted by creators until some serious change happens. You can survive without Call of Duty, they cannot survive without creators.
Just got my refund. As long as you don’t have a ton of time on MWR and bought it during the sale (less than 14 days ago) shouldn’t be an issue. Didn’t even give Steam a reason. I had 3 hours played in multiplayer and just said my reason isn’t here I want a refund
Rockstar, or more correctly Take-Two as their parent company, shuts down mods all the time though. Bringing the FiveM team into Rockstar was just to save their public image.
They also tried to sue and C&D FiveM, realised how fucked they’d be if they actually did that, bought FiveM and then fired like 90% of the team and hired new staff. R* essentially threw money at the issue to stop themselves from destroying their own product and still hollowed out the actual creative force behind the mod
For anyone who wants to refund MWR If you have more than 2 hours play time go to your purchase history, click MWR then "I have a question about this" and explain that you purchased it to play the client since the base game isn't safe because of RCEs and that Activision shutdown the client. Worked for me
It's so fucking funny to me that there are LITERAL LEAKS of BO6 on YT, but the C&D team are more interested in crushing a passion project that REQUIRES THEIR GAME TO PLAY.
they dont want people playing old cods with no microtransactions. They want you buying bps, nicki minaj skins, snoop dog skins, whilst slide cancelling like an autistic kid also cant forget the gay ass anime skins. gone are the days of playing a regular ass soldier having simple attachments no bps or microtransactions. so glad i havent bought a cod since b03 the franchise is for weird ass kids now
Let's remember, Black ops 2 and MW3 had skins for 2.79 CAD. Not to mention you buy ONE skin its for ALL guns, and doesn't screw up your skin when you add attachments like the new $10-$50 skins. Instead of letting us get a single skin, were flooded with stickers, sprays, titles etc.
H2M removed= BO6 refunded and canceled. Fuck Activision. Let’s all populate the old call of duty’s collectively as a whole. CONSOLE ONLY OF COURSE AND PLUTONIUM
@@brandonbergfelt536 I bet the new movement will either be under used like mounting or will make the game more sweaty. Sure some OG functions outside of gunplay are returning, but it is still modern call of duty. The game will be a cheat filled sweat fest catered to COD whales.
To me it’s obvious why Activision ordered the cease & desist. They’re scared of a small group of modders being able to do a better job than their own multi-billion dollar company with thousands of developers & near unlimited assets. All the H2M team wanted was to provide a fun, modern take on a game we all adored growing up. By the looks of it, they absolutely did just that. And they didn’t get a dime for doing so. The worst part of it all is that Activision deliberately put the game on sale to drive hype for the mod releasing. They made damn sure to get their bag from it first, before delivering a massive fuck you to the modders. I think it’s disgusting but unfortunately, not at all surprising from activision.
I'm reposting this comment so people can hear the news. They're already in progress on discord on S2M group, there's also another called H2M Revived group. But S2M group I know has some H2M creators in it. They plan to make a new launcher as it is defunct but the rest is working right now you can play!!! Servers are full guys just refund it and keep the files, duh. Fk Activision at this point.
They aren't doing it because the mod is more fun, they are doing it to funnel profits and players to bo6. If people are playing older games and not buying new games+skins, then they won't make as much money.
BO2 (2012) was the absolute last Call of Duty I have ever played. I didn't even follow-up the announcements after that. But lately I was extremely excited to play the OG MW2 again. This shutdown reminded me my decision again.
Activision just keep giving us more proof that they know a small team of passionate developers can beat a multimillion dollar company. It’s sad that the games that made call of duty what it is today they want to kill it Edit: holy I didn’t think I would get that many likes thank you guys that made my day T-T and to just elaborate I’ve been a old cod player and I grew up on mw2 and black ops 2 and I just wish new players could experience the same feeling I did back then I wish I could go back to play them again but sadly I can’t do that unless I wanna deal with hackers and having my ip addresses in risk I do hope someday we can all hop back on the older cod games and just have fun because even though there were a lot of exploits of the older games during that time it was still considered the golden age of cod and nothing can compare to them.
Xdefiant is a good comparaison I thought that ubisoft was the worst of the worst. The only company that has my praise is either an indie one or rockstar Even to the point of hiring the modding community .they know how successful fiveM is and won the community’s heart Because at the end of the day. It’s us that keeps the ball rolling
Activision was never okay with mods. They’ve removed the mod support for Cod games after World at War. I don’t understand why people are surprised with this move.
Its actually pretty interesting, that they can "borrow" the idea from the ak-50 from Brandon Herrera and put like a stupid "conversion kit" on mw3 without his consent or anything like it, but when the community tries to make something that we want for literally years, its "stolen" property and they shutdown years of progress, shame on them for being that greedy, hope we can get some feedback from them
Yeah but at least the thing is with Brandon is that while yes, it was made without his knowledge or anything like that, he didn’t really care. If memory serves me correct he actually thought it was kinda cool it was in there. Activision, they just don’t care. They pretty much said “haha no fun for you or anyone else”

But one thing that really annoys me is the players. This happens EVERY single time. Modders make a mod for CoD, the modders get a C&D and then people are disappointed. It's a repeating pattern. Why the high expectations that Activision maybe won't send a C&D to Mod XYZ

this isn’t even greed since the mod was free for a offical copy of the game, it’s just evil and to show how little they care about the people that buy their games.
If you think about it, it is actually greed. Activision waited till THE DAY BEFORE h2m to hit them with a cease and desist. I know a lot of people purchased mwr on steam just for this mod. They maximized profit without having to do a thing. It's sickening.
@@LAESA1 It isn't greed, they're literally hurting themselves financially by doing this. An old CoD was skyrocketed to top 3 of the steam charts all because of this mod. They literally refuse to have competition with their newest annual product. Majority of people did likely did not play past the 2 hour mark knowing this was possibly coming and are getting refunds. Plus, they are hurting themselves in the future because a ton of people would have bought the game FULL PRICE (it was on sale up until yesterday) and they would have been making 45 bucks a pop for an old cod game. They did the same thing with warzone 1 when they saw all their big streamers choosing to play wz1 while wz2 was out. Warzone 2 is trash.

@whimseyOFC I was referring to his specifications dude. He built a PC specifically to play a mod built on the engine of an eight year old game. For all I know, he may have chosen a cheaper graphics card because he never intended to play anything else, or even a smaller amount of RAM. You seriously thought I was suggesting a PC can't play anymore than one specific game? Lmao I think you're the one who's taking the L here buddy.
@whimseyOFC If he's a console gamer, you can't expect him to splash out on a gaming PC when his primary gaming system is a console. Most people who build their first PCs use lower-level components because they're cheaper, and they often don't know just how much they'll use it. It's not unreasonable to assume that if he built a PC because he wanted to play a mod, then he's not going to have the best components money can buy.

I’m not surprised by the c and d… But why don’t they get it? A full MW2 remaster is like a 60fps patch for bloodborne. They barely have to do anything, and it’s an infinite money farm. People will sacrifice their money just to play remastered multiplayer. U could make it 90 bucks and ppl would still buy it. Activision needs some higher ups with more business IQ because holy shit
its crazy that bo2, mw2 and b01 are still highly talked about and regarded yet they refuse to release an actual remaster of said games but try to implement "remastered" guns and maps from them in their new shit cods is bonkers to me

To be fair... H2M as a whole is just one big copyright infringment. They're using Activision's IP. Although that obviously DOESN'T excuse Activision being crap. Which has been the case with most other mods made for CoD too, but yet people have huge expectations everytime a new CoD mod gets made.

If I'm guessing - it's because they used MW2R Campaign assets. It COULD have survived longer if it required MWR and MW2R Campaign (since that means that the player owns all assets required) since Mods are typically accepted (see Deathrun/Promod servers as examples of Mods that are still up).
Not just that, but technically MW2 assets too since every DLC map was included. Though I suspect this has nothing to do with the decision and more so about the mod threatening BO6’s bottom line
- encourages player base that they will get what they want. - releases something the community does not want - edges community w/ slow releases that better the game. - make money. - dedicated community giving what they've always wanted. - dedicated community helps increase player base and sales. - not made by Activision. - kills communities dreams. - repeat.
If COD's like BO1, BO2, MW2 are back with multiplayer in todays state of gaming and COD's they know almost nobody will buy new cod's and will only play online for these 3...

They don’t give a fuck about them just like they don’t give a fuck about the players who built their fucking franchise. They know the old games are better. That’s why this bullshit happened
Not only the kids are getting manipulated but the old players to. Using old game titles to nostalgia farm players back to their new game only to find out it’s nothing like it was before. People got to stop falling for this cycle it’s the same thing activision only cares about making the most money with the least amount of effort.
What do you mean protected by SBMM, because everyone says it ruins the game. The only people who don’t say that have skill. I have never got on cod and said this is TOO hard. I am in the top 1% of the game every year. No sbmm just makes it to where I can go on the game and farm kids that literally will never ever stand a chance against me.
I'm surprised that there hasn't been a lawsuit regarding the safety of the older games. Huge portions of the game are non-functional, mostly due to low player populations, but more importantly it is outright dangerous to the individual who PURCHASED THE GAME to attempt to even try to play it online. That has to fall into some kind of legally dubious area like false advertising and straight up endangering consumers.
I remember a few years ago me and my friends decided to play a few games of old mw2 and as soon as we queued up a search and destroy game we found a game and it was a modded lobby we got our levels reset to 1 our scores set to -999999999 and everything on the account was deleted and as soon as we left we got vac banned(I still have it on my account) so yeah never again
Gotta love how activision let a prolific cheat developer and distributer go unpunished for 8 years, and still sells their older cod games despite knowing about dangerous exploits like RCE hacks (which actually goes against Steam TOS). But they'll wait until the day before H2 mod releases while MW2 is on sale to shut it down.

More like other people don’t want us to have fun understand that Activision doesn’t seek out these games people actually email them to tell em about it.
While there are no specific laws against selling a game on Steam before a mod is released, there are several legal and ethical considerations. First, making sale on a game on Steam before a mod is released could be considered misleading advertising if the game's description or marketing materials do not clearly state that the mod is not yet available. Second, issuing a cease and desist letter to take down a mod could be considered copyright infringement if the mod uses copyrighted material from the game without permission. Finally, the legality of these actions would depend on the specific terms of the Steam Subscriber Agreement and the mod's license agreement.
the rumor mentioned at 10:57 doesnt really mean anything, in terms of releasing an official mw2r multiplayer. the game wont be safe a year later anyways.
For anyone over 2 hours in the game you can still likely get a refund! If you explain in the message for the refund that the game is unsafe to play online, the game doesn’t launch on your setup and your playtime is just troubleshooting or even that you bought it for the mod and the mod is no longer available due to Activision you will likely get the refund approved. i was contemplating buying it too man, and craziest part is, if they allowed the mod to thrive, they could've gained more sale via mwr as another spare source of cash
I think this should be emphasized as an example in which Activision is blatantly endangering their customers by keeping these dangerous games for sale but taking down any clients/mods that make them safe to play. A class action lawsuit needs to be brought is all I’m saying. Activision needs to be reprimanded in the way they’ll actually care about, financially. It would probably result in Activision just taking down every call of duty but the newest, but that would most likely hurt them anyway because it would make it more obvious to customers that Activision will not support their purchase after 2 years and ultimately doesn’t care about you.

The fact that they really waited to send the CnD until a day before release has to be one of the most unnecessarily petty moves Activision has done yet
Then sent the cease and desist the day before the release of a mod that required a paid version of an Activision title. What a scummy and terrible company

i think what made activision hate modder so much more was when BO3 had modding tools for the first time ever and it produced so many insanely impressive things that was made by a group of a small amount of people

@@TheRealFxnn it was the biggest and was really the turning point, most of bo3 source code was leaked which allowed for insane modding maps 3 times better than any new one, activision wont shut it down just because they physically cant
I think Activision shuts down mods that make the game feel more like a standalone release. Plutonium keeps their games vanilla, only adding the server browser for the older games and leave it at that. but Xlabs wanted to create SM2 which could pass off as a completely new title with how much they added, where you could even call it a completely new game. Same with MW2R, it was so heavily modded it could pass as a complete new standalone game. This is where they probably draw the line. IW4x and S1x were just collateral damage because of SM2, weren't it for SM2's existence XLabs would have still been up.
The Problem isnt that Activision keeps these Games up to purchase, the problem is that they keep the multiplayer servers active and running, there are many People who enjoy Campaigns so the only Problem in that monetization dilemma is the Servers being up
I feel like this isnt even legal. Putting a game on sale, allowing ppl to play enough to not be able to refund it, and then shutting it down a day before release has to be illegal. They literally manipulated ppl into buying a product under a false promise, with the full intention of shutting it down right before it releases, and the cherry on top is they waited until ppl couldnt get a refund. I feel like there's a solid case to make that that shit is illegal and business malpractice or some shit like that
Im saying, they put a broken game on sale also. If you have a rtx card good luck without having to go into safe mode and tweaking settings to even launch
H2M wasn't a very popular/public thing until just now. The H2M devs are just like the SM2 devs, and did not learn from SM2. Firstly, mod clients are fine. Activision didn't hit plutonium because it was free and just added things to bo2 and nothing else. H2M seemed to be paid (Which was never going to work because you're selling assets of MW2R which is PAID instead of just making your own assets which is fine) and reused assets from a paid game. They literally didn't have to take it down if they just didn't do that. Screw acti and screw the h2m devs
What is illegal about that? They can shut down mods whenever they want. They don't even need to keep online alive in modern cods. It's in the terms of service. They are greedy but not dumb. They shut down every other mod why people think they would make a exception here? What did you expect...
@@snopdogg2x If Activision wanted to, they could shut down Plutonium. They have that legal right, regardless of how scummy it is. Selling games that have known exploits in them COULD be, and most definately should be illegal. Steam should honestly remove the older games with known exploits from the store.
If we all stopped playing and buying their games it would force a change, similar to what war thunder players did, it forced their devs to do what they wanted.
This doesn't work on call of duty unless it's really bad, like infinite warfare at launch. It's a gaming staple for 30 million people every year.
Is anyone surprised by this? It's not just that they hate the modders, they literally do not like MW2, it's an easy cash grab that they could easily make but they clearly dislike Zampella and West to the point that the most requested game for them to remaster only got it's campaign done, it is not rocket science, the original MW2 has an arura that they have been chasing ever since
disappointed but not surprised at all
I’m not surprised by the c and d… But why don’t they get it? A full MW2 remaster is like a 60fps patch for bloodborne. They barely have to do anything, and it’s an infinite money farm. People will sacrifice their money just to play remastered multiplayer. U could make it 90 bucks and ppl would still buy it. Activision needs some higher ups with more business IQ because holy shit

its crazy that bo2, mw2 and b01 are still highly talked about and regarded yet they refuse to release an actual remaster of said games but try to implement "remastered" guns and maps from them in their new shit cods is bonkers to me
use og fortnite as an example, their player base skyrocketed for the month it came back then dropped hard afterwards people will stick around and play if its what they truly want instead of trying the new bs they pump out n getting bored
They realised they can make money by copy & pasting said game instead of making a good game why would a company resolve them selves to make an good cod they seen it happen with bo2’then we got ghosts no one even played ghosts everyone was on bo2 for years and they’re still is people playing bo2 point is if ur a company u want to maximise profits without using resources also ai is doing everything now so yeah that’s cool
They dont want a remaster of the old game to compete with their new games

To be fair... H2M as a whole is just one big copyright infringment. They're using Activision's IP.
Although that obviously DOESN'T excuse Activision being crap. Which has been the case with most other mods made for CoD too, but yet people have huge expectations everytime a new CoD mod gets made.
@@appleleptiker yeah but the thing is, there's other communities out there that make mods that are using the ip of the original games. Like skyblivion, that mod is a complete remaster of oblivion in skyrims engine and so far Bethesda hasn't done anything about it.

If that happened Activision would go into panic mode for sure
Well they kinda did, XDefiant was doing great. But after a while the hype kinda died down cause everyone thought since it was F2P it wasn't gonna be good. The other issue is... CoD has too big of a playerbase for someone else to create a brand new community from the ground up. As Jev said in one of his older XDefiant videos, "The only thing that will ever kill CoD, is CoD". But they have to seriously mess up for even that to happen. And yea, they screwed up with the cease and desist letter. If I'm guessing - it's because they used MW2R Campaign assets. It COULD have survived longer if it required MWR and MW2R Campaign (since that means that the player owns all assets required) since Mods are typically accepted (see Deathrun/Promod servers as examples of Mods that are still up).
Yep
Possibly but knowing Activision they still would've pulled the rug out from under us after buying all that stuff.
Could they save it if they made it so u have to buy the campaign assets of mw2?
Not just that, but technically MW2 assets too since every DLC map was included. Though I suspect this has nothing to do with the decision and more so about the mod threatening BO6’s bottom line

1:51 if u dont know u dont NEED under 2 hours, ive refunded a game with around 2.5-3 hours, its still not much but they arent super strict with it
For anyone over 2 hours in the game you can still likely get a refund!
It would probably result in Activision just taking down every call of duty but the newest, but that would most likely hurt them anyway because it would make it more obvious to customers that Activision will not support their purchase after 2 years and ultimately doesn’t care about you.
when IW4X got shutdown it tore a whole in me. From that point on, I refused to buy Call of Duty or support activision. I was going to give this mod around a week to see if it got taken down and unfortunately it was taken down a day before release. 3:10 you wouldn't even need a team per game. Just a single team to handle all the old cods would be sufficient. Or they could utilise their existing people.
The fact that they really waited to send the CnD until a day before release has to be one of the most unnecessarily petty moves Activision has done yet

The Problem isnt that Activision keeps these Games up to purchase, the problem is that they keep the multiplayer servers active and running, there are many People who enjoy Campaigns so the only Problem in that monetization dilemma is the Servers being up
Sadly none of this will change if people keep buying COD games, glad the last cod game I bought was MW2019/Warzone
Same I've been done with cod for so long, Activision is a disgusting company and they'll only learn when they lose money.
For real
Warzone 1 was honestly the last time cod was culturally relevant, what have they done new or different since then?

Nope. It's 100% legal. Scummy and petty, but unfortunately legal.
