Kia Sportage Auto Folding Side Mirror Module DIY Install

- Instruction DIY video to install an automatic side mirror folding module on a Kia Sportage R. The mirrors will fold when pressing the lock button on the remote control and will unfold mhen ignition key is turned on. These relay units are sold on Ebay and AliExpress. The video is also showing the wiring codes to use. Same units might also work for Hyundai IX35.
Thank you for you kind response . Yes when i go to the ACC mode the mirrors is opening . I meant when i press the UNLOCK key from remote the mirrors are going to fold or close it should be when i press the LOCK key should close or fold the mirror . Could you find a solution for it ...! I have KIA SPORTAGE 2014 FIN version . Thank you .
strange. i looked at the schematics and the blue wire should work. Is the door unlocked when you press the unlocked key from the remote???? If it is unlocked there is a wiring difference and you could try the unlock wire (orange) instead of the lock wire (blue) to the green wire of the module.

wired it up the one with 2 wires just did the green wire to blue in car when door is open mirrors open on ignition and close on remote as they should, but when i shut door they open on ignition but when i shut the door they dont close with remote but when i open with remote the mirrors close, any ideas
Have you tried connecting grey to blue?
@rob 7 jaar later help je nogsteeds mensen met de spiegels! Bij mij helemaal werkend, moet alleen nog even uitzoeken hoe ik de schakelaar kan gebruiken voor 'altijd open' in de winter.

I am also after one of these and your video has given me the nerve to diy it. I looked on Aliexpress and they seemed to all be for 2015/2016 models. Will this work on mine (2011 first edition)? Have you a link for the one that you got and could post on here or send to me?

Now I want to install the glass opening and closing module. How to assemble the glass module for sportage ? Can you help with this? How should the cable connections be ?

If it doesnt help, switch back to the bliue and test some more. Also do a small test drive. Make sure the mirrors dont fold when you reach a speed of 25 km/hr. Since snow occurs in finland i suggest you also install a rocker switch between the green wire to disable the auto fold in winter otherwise damage may occur to the motors when the mirrors are deeply frozen.
Dude I can't find the remote central lock orange wire. I tried every single wire and none works just for the remote lock. Some work for lock but also work for the inside cabin lock button too which is a problem. Help.

Dear friend hi ... thank you for your kind guidance today i try the Orange wire and its work amazing cause when i press the lock key from the remote the mirror going to fold and when i press the unlock key the mirrors are unfold . And i drove the car for more then 3 hours on 100 kilo meter per hours noting happen and everything are working well . Thank you so much . Kind regards

Hi dear friend there is small issue i just connect the green wire to the blue wire of door connector . But when i press the open kay from the remote key the mirrors are folding and when i insert the key in key hole of car and turn it to the ACC the mirrors are going to open . Actual is when i press the Lock button from the remote key the mirror should be closed and when i press the Unlocke button the mirror should go to open .!!! Could you please help me for the issue..? and i brought the item from alixpress

No, the mirrors will open when you go into the ACC mode with the key, not when you press open on the remote.
will this work even tho my kia sportage doesnt come woth factory folding mirrors? plz respond
If the mirrors are folding electrically by pushing a button it will work. If you have to fold the mirrors by hand, it does not work.
Rob O is there anything i can do to adapt mines to fold with a button or something like that?

Hi does that require some mechanical parts inside the mirrors? I mean are to get that work do my car's mirrors should support auto folding ?
If you have a button inside your kia sportage to fold the mirrors, it work. If you have to fold the mirrors by hand on the outside of the car, this does not work. You need motorized mirrors.

I have bought mine at aliexpress.com, search for kia sportage mirror fold. The shop i had chosen was obd club. Price was 25 euro and free shipping. I have had no problem at all since installation. Last week i thought it would be a good idea to switch the unit of when i expect snow. I do not want the mirrors unfold when a lot of snow is on the mirrors because it would be bad for the motors. So i have installed an extra switch in the green wire and put it into the door panel. This way i can shutdown the folding device in case i do not want the mirrors to fold when i lock my car. This also works great. So just put an extra switch in the green wire only.
Wherr did u buy thr extra green switch and will it work for mazda ?
+Tarek Taher I just installed a generic rocker switch. in this case a 16 mm round rocker switch wich i put in the green wire. I think this will NOT work with Mazda. The cables and connections are specific for Kia. For Mazda you should find another video.

yes, then you have the first type unit without grey wire. see 1:25 in the video.

Rob even een vraagje ik kom er niet uit ik heb een module met 2 kabels. De groene losse kabel moet vast aan de blauwe kabel maar ik heb nog een grijze kabel waar moet die heen?
Op 1:05 zie ik idd een tweede draad die naar de accu zou moeten gaan. Ik heb echter geen ervaring met de units met die tweede draad. Zat er geen beschrijving bij en werkt het niet gewoon als de draad niet wordt aangesloten?

when you have the two wire unit, connect the green new wire to the orange lock cable and the grey new wire to the blue unlock cable.

the car already have a driver side fold button; so the folding motor already exist in the mirrors.
