Britec! Have I got a story for you! It's one of those WTFs you're a fan of.
I bought a brand new Asus OLED Vivobook. Beautiful screen. Took a while to upgrade to 11. While I was installing my usual stuff the OLED collapsed like Venetian blinds and then went black. UH-OH. Did a reboot, same issue within minutes.
Started to send it back to Amazon when I figured, hey, why not refresh and start from Windows 11. Everything was fine. So then I started installing my usual stuff and during the install of Google Chrome -- Venetian blinds, black screen. So I sent it back.
The new replacement (identical) was working great. Started installing my usual stuff and just as I installed Chrome -- VENETIAN BLINDS. I don't know a hundredth of what you know but I do know that coincidence wasn't a coincidence, and that I wasn't have a hardware problem but obviously a software problem.
The cause? Hardware acceleration being on by default. That's it. Apparently Chrome, Edge, and MS Office will nuke the screen if that switch is on. If you haven't covered this you might want to talk about it.

The one sentence that prevents me selecting this option - "Requires browsing data to be sent to Google."
The Standard setting with added Extensions nails the lids down securely on internet security for the mainstream internet user - including the ability to toggle on or off being advised of passwords being breached. I have yet to be compromised in any way locally using this approach since switching to Chrome many years ago.

Can't beat simple tweaks for security. And that USB Linux can be used for so much more but yes that is most likely the most secure way to do anything since it doesn't touch the system at all.

Following up on your video about norton security! Just had an email from them today 9th December to auto renew my subscription for my 360 deluxe 2021 5 users.
It had cost me about £20 if I had left it to auto renew it would cost me £84 wow.
Got straight on my computer to stop auto renew. I have been with norton security for years so if you could make your viewers aware of this it would help people to stop them just pressing one switch on their computers. THANK YOU

All you have to do for the live USB is to pick your preferred Linux distro and download it to a USB device. The live USB is essentially the distro installer, but it can be used without actually installing.
Opera GX is my preferred browser since you can upload images from the clipboard and stuff and ublock origin doesnt work sometimes on chrome

Sort of similar to the settings in Edge Brian and I found out a few good things from this video on checking such stuff as checking my passwords etc What would be nice too is a video on making that live session Linux USB mate as it sounds like a really good idea.

If you can get regular updates on an installed Chrome browser, then why is an AUE effective on a Chromebook? Oh, and good tip on using a live USB for banking.

Could you redo that banking part at the end? I keep replaying but still not sure what/where I need to download to get that banking window to load up. It seems like the most important / helpful part an you zoom thru it. I"d like to do that for my banking so I'm going to be honest and say "you lost me" Help. Thx from USA
also when doing the "Clean up" step in Chrome it repeatedly fails and stops. Does that mean I already have something harmful on the PC stopping it? Or do I need to have another chrome setting turned on to run it?

One Question I need an answer for is that how do I go about (like the text sent to your mobile)as to 2 step verification? Because when I go to Asia Thailand mostly every year ,As soon as I leave the UK I Turn my mobile of and use another phone and get a sim card for the country I'm in ( mostly Thailand) .I find sometimes when logging in to some of my accounts they say send you a text message! Which of course I can't recieve.! How do I get around that please, Thanks!
The thing is I set everything to be safest along the lines you advise when i install a browser, but i keep getting popups asking me to check my security settings. I think, -"I've already told you what I want, why do you keep asking?" Do google updates keeping returning my settings to a default? I've got so sick of checking it's a while since I looked to be honest to see what they now show.

It doesn't do a good job on finding malicious extensions. i have seen many malicious ones it did not catch. it's a bit like the play store i guess.

Why go through all this? I would not use Chrome itself, you can use Brave or Firefox.

NEVER use Chrome. it's a resource HOG. the only way to stop Chrome from using your resources is to restart your computer.
I made it secure in one step, uninstall it.

Used Chrome, for years.
Way easier: Install Brave Browser. Add the consent-o-matic and Privacy redirect extension on it and enjoy a faster, less energy consuming and much privacy friendlier internet!
