Helpful for taking screenshots from a educational UA-cam video which has diagrams and stuff 4. Collections in Edge and Vertical tabs are also useful features that I use occasionally. Sadly I open a lot of tabs, and Tab Groups & Workspace in Edge (and other browsers) are very helpful. Being able to install PWA is also nice. Would be great if Mozilla also cared about Quality-of-life features _in addition_ to the Privacy features.

Try the vertical tabs with the drawer always open. It removes the opening animation annoyance, and i think it’s more useful (like a file tree, or that horizontal bar in finder)You sacrifice a little horizontal real estate, but when you have many tabs, you don’t have to scroll horizontally to look for the ones you want. And the tabs are always in the same spot, which is wonderful for muscle memory.

The big issue with horizontal tabs is the inability to read any names at all once you have a half decent amount open, unless you hover, wait, read, move, hover, wait...

Vertical tabs are useful when you have A LOT of tabs, as in enough that you have to scroll through the vertical list. At that point with horizontal tabs you can't even scroll fast enough through them. You can also pin the vertical tab bar to keep it open. Edge can now be downloaded on Linux too actually. And so can Onedrive file sync for at least Ubuntu if I recall (the latter’s a new thing, I had ubuntu 20 on an old computer of mine 4 years ago and it wasn’t available)

This kinda understates how good edge is. After the movie to chromium it was undabidly the best browser from a usability standpoint. It had the most fetures (sidebar thing, tab groups, really good tts, read mode, etc..)(yes crome now copied them but edge all had them first) It was also the fastest and least resource intensive browser. And while crome over years and years slowly copiesost of these features now it is still just usability wise the best browsers. Yes it is gonna take all your data but so is Google Chrome.
Microsoft keeps rearranging the furniture for no useful improvement. Sidebar effectively buried features and tools, it needs to be optional and Edge needs to have an easy "Uninstall Edge" button.
I don’t use Crome. I tried it and hated it. I downloaded the install from Google. Once installed I discovered it had loaded all kinds of extra software I didn’t want, approve, or know it had done. I uninstalled it. Only to find later it had reinstalled itself. To completely remove it, I had to reformat my hard drive and reinstall Windows. So I am never making that mistake again. But there's a flaw in edge PDF is it can't show Times new Roman font for some reason(which is important for me), don't why but it doesn't work and I don't want to install another shady, ram eating browser/PDF viewer to have search and Times new roman. It'll be so simple if chrome just adds search option, what's stopping them? Another thing is edge use less ram, so I use it for long browser sessions sometimes

Microsoft should just give up on MSN department (and the ads that come along with it) Ad revenue is miniscule compared to their other revenue streams anyway, yet MSN ads & its News feed of random gossips that creeps into all their products are harming their image. It'd be great if Microsoft only focus on selling Office 365 like how Apple only focus on selling their devices, so they're free to make their product feel truly premium & maybe a bit more privacy-friendly than Google.

Edge on Xbox isn't even actually the current Edge that is on all other devices... It is the crappy Edge from 2015 with a skin on it... That's why it lags even on the newer Xbox Series S|X Consoles... They update the SDK for it to continue being supported every time those consoles get updates. But if you look in the file system of a Series X, the Edge is the exact same as it was on Xbox One consoles back in 2015-2016... Vertical tabs are the main reason why I use edge. When I do research, I normally have 50+ tabs open. In a regular horizontal tab setup, I wouldn't be able to read and identify where each leads to. I'm also uncomfortable hovering and clicking on a tiny button just to go to a specific tab. Regarding that hover delay issue, I just click the pin button on the top right so the panel shows up the entire time. Some may think that would occupy massive screen real estate, but most websites are either responsive, or have a lot of unused white space on both sides anyway. Regarding their homepage, yeah that sucks. Though you can turn all of those widgets off, even the wallpaper. All I have left are the microsoft logo and the search bar. I never use bing. For all my devices, I changed the default search engine to google. And I also configured my searches straight to the address bar. Otherwise, edge would still use bing.
You could use Floorp [Firefox fork] for vertical tabs and clean and beautiful homepage. However, it is based on Firefox so still a little slower and not as compatible as a chromium-based browser.

It's a far better user experience than when using Chrome hands down. The scrolling, memory usage and having the "web search" prompt when you highlight text on a page (seriously why doesn't Chrome have this?). The only reason why I don't use it is because I'm already signing away my data to Google, I'm not letting another party, especially Microsoft with their AI, in on the action.
Edge's read aloud / text-to-speech with its natural voices was the main feature that made me switch; it's great to help you focus on what you're reading.

Meanwhile I'm using edge on Linux because brave and Firefox are giving me performance issues for some weird reason (slowed down so much to the point that I have to close the tab and open a new one to keep browsing)
I used to be a Google Chrome user for 18 years. Then I heard about Arc, I used it for 2 years because I liked the layout. Then I tried Edge for a spin because of Windows' peer pressuring, I noticed that it's actually faster than Arc, considering I have a low-end laptop. I used to use Opera... before it became shit, so I moved to Vivaldi... the sidebar was always the reason. However the harder Microsoft tries to force Edge on me, the more I will refuse and it's really purely a matter of principle: I WANT TO BE THE ONE THAT DECIDES! end of fucking story.
The end of day, edge still hits me hard with tons of unnecessary features and ads, it's just not a browser for me. But I have my old edge installed, and I LOVE that one
Also I have to say, as an Internet nerd, every single "good" feature in this video is what I hated to have. Sidebar is one of the most annoying and distracting thing I've ever seen, takes lots of screen space and shows less information of both pages. Also when it first came out, you cannot disable or hide it unless using enterprise policy(for that thin bar, not the window). PDF things is good, but firefox already has all of it and even further, also I don't think professional pdf workers would use browser for their work, use a professional tool instead. Group tabs also confuses me a lot, when I used to drag a tab out to show it on a separate window, it merges in a group which is not efficient for me. And yeah, why would I use split screen if I can simply drag a tab to one side of my desktop and have the split screen natively in Windows? It's more efficient, faster to perform, also I can fit even more window from other programs. Did I mention the design? I don't know, but why the hell Microsoft decides to have round corners in a browser? It's not like Windows have those designs, neither my computer screen(maybe win11, but I use Windows 10 anyway). In general, there's definitely something good and unique on edge, I remember how excited I was when the canary version first came out and how it beats chrome in lots of ways, but it just keeps getting bigger, chunkier, inefficient and difficult to use, and shows me a thousand ads and popups every day. Finally when google going absolutely crazy on adblockers, I switched to Firefox, and it's not perfect, but good enough to let me not use other twos.

I think if most people were honest the reason they do not use Edge is because they fundamentally hate Microsucks OS. For the average computer user they are forced to use windows. As time has progressed Microsoft has degenerated into the biggest pile of software that if the truth were really told every antivirus software would identify Windows as being malware that is an extreme hazard that needs to be removed. Windows is designed to be spyware that has become ever increasingly effective at stealing each users information and data. I hate windows so much that I have educated myself so I do not have to use Windows. I migrated to it from Chrome on the year it released due to it literally using the same extensions of Chrome and it performs noticeably better. Chrome tends to get bogged down fairly easily. I've also been liking Edge on Android, seems to also perform better for me than Chrome. I also find data sync with a Microsoft account to be more useful than syncing data to a Google account, not to mention the password store for Edge works more like a proper password manager and is encrypted apart from the browser. I've properly tried out every MS browser extensively, but only Edge Chromium actually got me to make the change and stay. The original release of Edge though, that felt kind of terrible and gave the Edge brand a bad reputation out of the gates, lol.
Remember when Google dropped 'Don't be evil' from their code of conduct some 10 years ago? That's when I first started trialling alternate browsers. Today I'm a permanent Edge user and have been for two, maybe three years. I also switched on my Android phone at about the same time. No pain and no regrets. I doubt Google misses me though.

I used to be a Google Chrome user for 18 years. Then I heard about Arc, I used it for 2 years because I liked the layout. Then I tried Edge for a spin because of Windows' peer pressuring, I noticed that it's actually faster than Arc, considering I have a low-end laptop. So I started using Edge just last week, but I missed Arc's vertical tab layout, good thing that Edge has that feature, so I used it. Now I've decided that I will always be using Edge, because I wont have to download Chrome when installing a new copy of Windows
Well, this is my opinion:

I used to use Opera... before it became shit, so I moved to Vivaldi... the sidebar was always the reason. However the harder Microsoft tries to force Edge on me, the more I will refuse and it's really purely a matter of principle:
I WANT TO BE THE ONE THAT DECIDES!
end of fucking story.
Microsoft Edge is weird and has "edges", not good "Smooth edge" things. And it is weird personalization

My primary OS is Linux and I run Windows in virtual machine running on top of Linux that I use for gaming and to run software that only runs on Windows.
This is why everyone is moving to Linux. Linux golden age is coming.
I've been using Edge more than 5 years. Before edge it was chrome and fire fox and both operas. Chrome was eating my ram, fire fox was eating my wifi data bit faster than chrome and operas were running in the background after I closed them, and they had annoying start up loading animation unlike any other browsers.

Another main issue is companies. For example I got a new laptop at work and my employer is trying to force me to download and use Chrome, why? There are no exclusive addons that are only on Chrome and, this being a shitty work laptop, will struggle all day and all night with Chrome and ram. I will continue to use Edge and when I told the IT department they were based on the same structure they looked at me like I was the Joker, amazing what passes for IT staff these days

People don’t trust Microsoft. IE was terrible, then they tried to force Bing on us, then the introduced “Edge”, then they introduced a totally different browser, also named Edge, and each time they tried to force it on us and kept making it harder to use any other browser as your default. Add in all the privacy issues they’ve had over the years, and all the garbage they put on the default home page….
People just don’t trust Microsoft, especially with browsers. Microsoft’s past and current practices are the reason.
Malware is software technically
I would really like to know why people use Chrome today lol. It drains battery much faster, it heats the device more. It consumes tons of RAM. And all the extensions from chrome work also on Edge.

They're both the same to me
I feel as though the Edge Chromium browser is actually a Microsoft browser done right.
