When I watch conversion videos where they're showcasing their homes, I'm inspired. But when I watch 'regret' videos, I gain invaluable wisdom. I never would've considered putting in two fans, but I've seen half a dozen videos of people regretting not doing it. In my mind, they have experience and I better listen. Thanks for helping us noobies.
THANK YOU for showing us your trial and error experiences. After watching many dozens of conversion videos, I can see where the Must Have list gets long. Then during the actual build, time crunch, $ and Real Life happen. I'm enjoying your videos. Thank you
Very eye-opening hints. By the way, I've seen different opinions about space and many say they wouldn't have a bathroom in the van because it takes up too much space (they'd rather use the gyms for a shower and have a porta-potty in the van for #2). Maybe you could make a video on this topic.
Thanks for info. I can see that adding another fan would be a real pain but if you don’t like the one you have why not just change it? That should be an easy fix.
The one we have still works, and during rain storms we have it opened slightly so rain dont get in. Our roof is so full of solar that if we had to change it, we’d have to redo the solar placements as well!
Thanks for your videos. My wife and I are looking to build out a van in the next year. Have you looked at bobil vans water heaters? I’m thinking about using this system.
I would definitely get a fixed bed, can’t imagine having to reassemble it every day. I plan to make mine a bed lift so it stays out of the way during the day. Interesting info about the dry flush toilet since that was the same one I was considering although I was planning on using a pee bottle for #1. Maybe a composting toilet like most full time van lifers use is better after all. Interesting info on the heater, I would not have thought it would fail so easily in high altitudes.
The lift bed is definitely cool, you’ll get the best of both worlds. Pee bottle is definitely an option, we just hated to smell it when dumping it out. The diesel version of the heater, I heard, is a bit more forgiving for high altitude (we have the gasoline one). If you get it, look for one that already supports high altitude to eliminate the headache. Best of luck with your build!
I have been rethinking some of the mentioned options for my trailer. For the space heater, I would recommend small Mr heater for portability and cheap. For the water heater, we are using same heater you have, but with the 4Gallon version. It works just fine for us even from the solar power setup (280AH battery and 3000W inverter). I have been considering propane heater, but it has to be installed/used with outdoor venting, not in an enclosed van or trailer situation. If I would upgrade, I would add more battery capacity, maybe 100-150AH for the heater or even air conditioning (such as portable A/C unit). just food for thought...
Not sure how good the mr heater is in really cold temps, i heard it also generates a lot of condensation inside the space using that heater. We wanted a “built in” type heater as a permanent heat source. I think the electric water heater works, especially for quick showers. The on demand heater is more of a want, especially during winter time for us. We recently upgraded our solar to 750w and battery bank to 600ah, pretty awesome (but expensive!)

Thank you guys.Dont let the negative comments get to you,I'm sure you've made some great memories in your van as it is,I will subscribe
Thanks so much!
This is practically everything!
Pretty much! We should gut the van and start over lol
The information was very helpful. I actually had thought if getting the dry flush so I'm glad i watched this video
this is why you do homework and research before the build...helps to watch others van videos as well.
Agreed!

We have a toddler now, I think having a shower of some sort will still be important to us (maybe a hidden one!)
Thanks👍👍
Thanks for watching!

Never heard of it, im sure theres a lot of newer tech that makes it even better!

thanks for the info!! do you have solar panels?
Yes we do
