I found that the c=setting in lipo is the charge current cutoff and if you have new batteries they will often charge beyond that leaving your battery at less than 4.2 per cell. I usually set that c= number about 500mah above the rate of the battery so they dont stop prematurly
Nice review Jeff! I'm always tempted to pick up these 4 channel chargers, but honestly the manufacturers never seem to offer much of a price break, especially with the liability that if one or more die.....which happens often from my look around the clubhouse. I usually spend about $50 on good quality single channel charger, so until a 4 channel charger is sub $150 I'm not too tempted!
thanks for this video i fly edf jets using 6cell lipos i have 7 batteries and one stinking charger this will solve my problems i will be able to stay in the air at the field cant wait to get this. charging four 6 cell packs at once awesome!!
Been shopping quad charges for a while now. I have two kids, and we all race RC. My brother and his kid also race. So, that's 5 people. Thankfully we race enough different classes that charging usually isn't an issue, usually....but once in a while. So, this should fix all of that, at what seems like a great price point.
I have a few 7.5 volt NiMh batteries that I'm trying to recondition. I'm new to this field and know nothing about it. I've don't my capacity setting for NiMh battery for low 5000 and high 7500 MhA. The charger goes through the 3 cycles and once I get the "END" flashing, I only see 0000 for low and 0106 to 0110 for high on all three tests on at least 12 batteries. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. On my user settings, right after display at 100% and right before factory reset, there is an option by factory default for "Battery End Vold" set for LiPo 4.2 v/c. using the forward and back buttons, you can change the battery type. I has everything except for NiMH. Could be this?
Why are the lipo balance plug cables always so short? For safety, we should all be charging lipos in lipo bags or ammo crates and these short cables make that very difficult/awkward/impossible to do.
HI Jeff I have this charger but have never gotten it to work. I have 2 batteries from Spectrum and getting "connection break" on any of the ports with both batteries. They are not swollen in fact they are new. A year ago I also tried to charge a battery and got the message "high voltage detected" and thought I damaged it and put it back in the box. That was over a year ago. I am not seeing the message when I try to use it again. That was only on one of the ports. I have tried that same port today and getting the connection break message but nothing about voltage. Any Ideas? Thanks!
Firmware update? Is it possible to update the firmware on this charger? I didn't know that could be done, but I saw a mention of it in a post... thanks
I have one of these. Does what it's supposed to do but one the first one the power switch broke so I couldn't turn if off. Got a replacement that also does what it's supposed to do but the fan is making a bed noise for some seconds after it starts. Probably bad bearing. Starting to question the quality of these.
Thanks for the review but I have a question. Using the balance board do your small 1S batteries charge like individual cells in a higher S battery on the CQ3? I've tried the 3 and 6 to 3S/6S balance cables and never get full charges to 4.2v and the the individual 1S batteries do not balance out as well as individual cells do in a real 3S/6S battery. Tied several chargers using 1S 150mAh to 750mAh batteries and they never completely charge to 4.2v and storage charge is also not as accurate. Do you use fast charge, charge, or balance charge when using the balance board? Sure would like to use one but so far my experience has been poor charging multiple 1S batteries as one larger S rated battery. This CQ3 is double the watts of the Hitec X4 and looks like the best charger for the money IMO IF quality parts are used and it lasts and is accurate. I have noted the Hitec X4 has much higher charging resolution accuracy than the Turnigy Accucell 6s chargers, both 50 & 80 amp models run off an accurate 350w power supply and as result some batteries take longer to balance charge on the Hitec X4 that seems to heal batteries being used down lower than ideal and balances cells better where some new (Nano Techs especially) batteries breaking in can take triple the normal time as new battery storage chemical makeup converts to useful battery capacity where I gain 20% or more. The Turnigy Accucell doesn't seem to see the cell voltage differences as well and compensate.
Hi, Just wanted to say, between yesterday and today I've found an issue with my charger- It reports the battery as charged at 4.20v when it's closer to 4.10v- I'm working with the company to find the problem- I thought I'd let you know. I don't know if yours will do this, I am going to make my video private until this issue is resolved and follow up with a update video.
You're so lost. This charger has 4 separate outputs not just 2, has a built in AC power supply, and cost $100 less. Not everyone needs 1400 watts or wants to spend several hundred dollars on the DC power supply required to make provide that kind of power.
I have used the earlier model EV-Peak 80 watt per channel AC/DC charger for 2 years, had to exchange, early on, when one display quit. Charger has worked well on my up to 4400 mah 4S packs but one display is becoming hard to read. This one has more features and cheaper price. My not be suitable for some fast charging large heli flyers . Make sure that supplier can/will repair after warranty. This charger is probably limited to 100 watts per channel regardless of external power supply capacity.
Hi Jeff,i just bought one, unfortunately there was not a istructions manual inside. Any ideas where can i find utlist a electronic or paper one? kind regards Panos
Okay so for my 550 batteries I can charge them at 600. What about the amp setting? Do I let that stay at the default point 6? Or can I bump that up a little?
7demo7, I recently bought this. When I charge my Lipo batteries the charger shows each cell reaching 4.2v at the end of the charge (as it's supposed too). But once I remove the battery I only read around 4.11 volts with my volt meter. Do you see this same issue? Do I dare increase the user setting end voltage above the 4.2 default? Kinda not to sure about doing so..
yes, I increased the ending voltage to 4.22- its a little better on larger batteries but smaller batteries are still not being charged to 4.2, I will be making a follow up video about this charger- very disappointing
Thanks for the feedback. I tried this and found port 4 actually got my 4S 1300mah to around 4.18-4.2v. Thought this solved it and tried on other ports...nope. All seem to be different even after turning up.. And you are right, my 1S batteries hardly charge past 4.11v even if I turn up the setting. Super uncomfortable about doing so.. Now I'm back to my quest of finding a solid multi balance charger... :(
can it really do 10 amps on 4s since you own one can you out a battery on or a few parallel and tell me please ? the ev peak duo one I had only put out 6.5 amps on 4s plugged into the wall thanks if you could test that for me and tell me that would be great
that must be a major flaw with these chargers. I've had mine for a year, and about 2 months in an the power switch crapped out on me. Besides that and the noise its a nice charger. 4x 1300 mah 4s in 40 minutes gotta love it.
Just bought for 7.99 dollars www.banggood.com/ECUBEE-Intelligent-LED-APP-Control-EDC-Hand-Spinner-USB-Chargeable-Fingertips-Gyro-Gadget-p-1166962.html?p=B4200913385416201708 Cheers ua-cam.com/video/gSpy8aIEXO0/v-deo.html
I have that one :) Pros: 4 lipo charging + 4 x 100w! No need to plan when going out flying anymore. Cons: the on/off switch stops working 🤔 (but you can use it without that) A bit loud when charging
Can you discharge the battery using only the Negative & Positive leads not the "balance boards? I plan on using this to charge the packs ina Prius 28 packs that are 6 cells internally. The volts range from 7.2-8.1 6500 mAh
7demo7 I charge 24 3s lipos at 2c. Parallel charging 12 3s lipos on each output. 24 3s lipos are charged in 30min. Thats why its nice to have that power. Other wise it would take more than 12-16 hours to do that on other chargers.
Using this charger for years and it works absolutely flawless 👍🏻
Unfortunately mine was defective- I hear they work great

Canyon Racer don't even look at this low powered junk! Sad! Icharger 4010 duo for the win, 2800 Watts!

I agree, I hate the short balance lead

7demo7 look up the icharger 4010 duo, it's a beast! The charger in this video is weak, Sad!
Icharger duo 4010 has 2 1400 watt outputs! win!

Hello boss im looking for a user manual - could you please help me get one?
Do you still recommend this charger? I saw you mentioned that it has storage charge at the very end
You did not show how to plug or where to plug the batteries for rookies.
How to charge a 550 3s battery... The cq3 has settings of 400, 500, 600, etc. What settings do I select to charge a 450 or 550 battery?
Its ok to charge a 550mha batt @ 600mha, if u have high C rated batteries you could charge @ 1000mha
Okay so for my 550 batteries I can charge them at 600. What about the amp setting? Do I let that stay at the default point 6? Or can I bump that up a little?

7demo7 thanks please lmk man
Depends if your battery can handle that though. Have to look at the charge rate on the batteries specs

I truly hope they do fix that flaw soon. For this type of money this should not be occurring. Thanks for sharing your experience.
G-nice
My seller lowered the price instead of that I sent it back. (I can live without the switch)
*sorry about my crappy English
Just bought for 7.99 dollars

Just got my qc3, if power switches go bad, why dont i just leave the switch on all the time and plug/unplug from the wall to turn on and off.
At least it still turns on tho? Do you still have it and does it still work?
I have that one :)
Pros: 4 lipo charging + 4 x 100w! No need to plan when going out flying anymore.
Cons: the on/off switch stops working 🤔
(but you can use it without that)
A bit loud when charging
can i charge 4 batteries at 10 amp at the same time?
Yes
7demo7 have you done it before pushed 10amps and made it say 10 amps ?
There website says 5a per channel.
I have the cq2 it's great
Hey boss still got this charger? Any comments?
GabeReal Rc i sold it - it was horrible- buY an ISDT
@@7demo7review awesome, thanks alot!
Still worth it?
I prefer ISDT chargers
That's a lot of power for the price. Hi tech AC4 cost more and max is 300 watts.
Can you discharge the battery using only the Negative & Positive leads not the "balance boards? I plan on using this to charge the packs ina Prius 28 packs that are 6 cells internally. The volts range from 7.2-8.1 6500 mAh
not sure
This is not a high powered charger, sad! A high powered charger would be the icharger duo 2*1400 watt outputs!
Would you please hop off the icharger duo 2's nuts.
You're comparing apples to oranges....
Why would you need to charge a battery that fast anyway? The most I charge my lips is 3c and mostly 2c
7demo7 I charge 24 3s lipos at 2c. Parallel charging 12 3s lipos on each output. 24 3s lipos are charged in 30min. Thats why its nice to have that power. Other wise it would take more than 12-16 hours to do that on other chargers.
Bran Don I Parallel charge 24 3s lipo batteries in less than 30 min! Power!
+omega sun no one cares. I charge 4 different size of batteries at the same time with my charger. Duo can't do that.
