My new truck broke down 9.5 hours from home. Dealer refused to do anything...

- I bought a 2020 Ford F-350 Superduty to have a reliable tow rig, and it breaks down in the middle of a 20 hour trip, with my trailer, and race car, and all my belongings stranded. Ford wouldn't do anything to help us get home, store the trailer, etc. so we had to find another way.

Thank you all for the support. As I said before. Please refrain from leaving bad google reviews. The situation sucked. But the rest is done and dusted nothing can be done to change it. Now it’s just a matter of if ford honors the warranty on a part that’s known to fail… overall, It’s a lesson learned. I won’t make this mistake again of new car warranty nonsense. Regardless of how it all shakes out. I think it’s time to go back to the basics with a truck I can fix myself. Being a car guy and relying on warranty is a waste of time. It’s like having your hands tied behind your back. Also Chris’s Instagram is @chrisgrunst if you wanna give him a follow for being a legend!
Update: I got a call from the president of the dealership. He apologized very genuinely while taking fault for the situation. He actually watched the video instead of just responding out of anger. This could have gone a lot of other ways. But the way he approached it I respect. He’s a genuinely nice guy. And he’s really gone way above and beyond to make things right without me asking.
Update #2 it seems like it is covered and may be done as early as this weekend! So that’s good news atleast. I was worried it would be some backordered parts and take forever.
If only Toyota made full size diesel trucks lol
@@ecarrion40 I said I left at 4. And that I got there at 2. Broke down at 11. I didn’t expect him to drop anything. I just expected. Some bit of sympathy for the situation and some sort of willingness to help. There was none of that. But it is what it is.
Sounds just like a shit dealer most dealers rather it be coved under warranty so they can charge more and get paid commission off the work
Sell me the black 12 valve get you a nice loaded Cummins or duramax? I love your old truck I’d definitely keep it if I was you
This dealership that is already failing missed the perfect opportunity to grow in an increasingly dynamic market.
Shout out to that dude Chris for saving you guys. The world needs more people like him.
Great guy for doing that and also sounds like a subscriber
@@bbowerful no doubt.

No doubt! Dude is as cool as the Fummins!
The balls the dealership had to come and ask when you would be moving the trailer while you were stranded. Ridiculous man.... That behavior just shows what kind of ethics that dealership is run with.
That’s what really got me. And it had only been like an hour or so. Refused an sort of loaner. Then also complained my trailer was there. Like bro. I can’t do both.
@@Taylordrifts you nailed it tho, you wouldn't be there if they had a reliable product. Diesel is currently in the same spot gasoline emissions development was in the late 80s. And yet again, the buyer is the test dummy.
@@Taylordrifts I’m very sorry you had a shitty situation with that dealership and area. If your ever in that area again look me up. I’m only 20 minutes away.

frs shitty customer service. Now, if he were to be a potential buyer, he'd probably be getting the best treatment ever. All about the money for them.
Cummins swapped F350 been sitting in the driveway, looking at that new truck thinking "He'll be back."
He doesn't have that truck anymore so highly doubt he would be back to it.

I was a service manager for over 20 years. It would have meant nothing to me to find a spot for your trailer and get right on your truck. I had a priority list and broken down travelers were at the top. I even had a crew who could sympathize with the customers also. There was always a mechanic willing to stay late if the solution was near. Your experience, had it been at my shop, would have been positive for both of us and you'd look back at it fondly.
Several years ago I was diagnosed with AML (acute myeloid leukemia). I live in Carson City, NV. We headed off to MD Anderson cancer center in Houston in our 2016 F-350 6.7, towing our 30' travel trailer. I started getting check engine lights as we were going across NM. I ended up finding Gurley Ford in Gallup, NM. It was the first Saturday they were open since the COVID debacle. Anyway, I pleaded my leukemia dilemma and told them about my CEL (which I had diagnosed with my Banks iDash gauge). They took me in, let me drop my trailer down the street in one of their car lots, and immediately started working on my truck. They did a manual regen and updated the computer software on the truck. All this took about two hours. It cost me just over $100 - I was shocked. That's the same as "free" when it comes to diesel repairs. I was SO pleased with that dealership! I managed to get to Houston in time to get the proper treatment so I'm here to tell about my experience. There ARE good dealers out there!
I worked in service for 21 years. Anytime we had somebody traveling through the area that came in with a breakdown, understanding the situation the customer is in, I automatically gave them top priority. That might mean going above and beyond what we would offer to the normal customer dropping off a car for service. Like allowing a trailer to be parked in our storage lot temporarily. They were likely worried about liability for your property, but it's simple enough to make a note on the paperwork about the storage and that the dealer isn't liable. That dealer staff was terrible at showing any empathy.
The disclaimer about diagnosis cost if the repair is found to not be covered under warranty is just to cover the dealership's exposure though. It doesn't mean that they are trying to deny warranty coverage. Sometimes cars are dropped off with repairs assumed to be under warranty. Then after hours of diagnosis it's found that it isn't. Like an electrical problem on a brand new car that anyone would assume is covered, is found out to be due to rodent damage. It happens. The dealership can't bill warranty for that shop time and the dealership does have employee and facilities cost regardless. Myself and all writers I've worked with were always happy to give the good news to a customer that their repairs would be covered under warranty. Yes we do get reimbursed less than customer rate from warranty, but it's headache free and everybody is happy.
Yeah, that's the way I would approach it if I were a service manager in this situation as well. Seems like this dealer was intentionally messing with Taylor. I bet he's regretting that right about now. This looks bad on Ford and really looks bad on his dealership. 1.2 million eyeballs on his dumb a** so far. I bet they've never had this much attention in all their years in business, maybe combined. Supreme Ford of Slidell, LA folks.
I worked at a Dodge dealer for around a decade and ended up being the GMs fix it guy along with inventory work. This situation would have never happened. We would have dropped everything to get him back on the road ASAP. This is just a crappy dealer IMO.
I think he wants more then simply storage at the local dealer.....
Bring the fummins back to action. Like you said, you built it so you know how to work on it. If you keep the 2020, you’re just putting yourself back in the same situation if it does break down again. At least you can work on the fummins if it does break, rather than being scared to touch it to void the warranty. Do what you do best brother: GARAGE BUILT!!!!
I always wondered did he keep the fummins or sell it. I never saw the outcome of that.
and the biggest problem to is there's no telling what they will/won't replace. Say it's the pump and they change that, they may not cover the injectors even though shrapnel may have gone through them because a scanner says they're fine and they sprayed brake clean through them
@@10TowsDownTowing19:39
I don't understand why he sold it, he literallry built it to be the ultimate reliable truck, he literally built it to be more reliable than a new truck, it absolutely blew my mind when he sold it for a new truck.
@@motoweenies4431 Generally that is considered contingent damage and would be covered, but auto dealers do some shady crap all the time, especially when it comes to warranty work. Ford in my experience has been the worst and I stay away from them personally. Although my two local dealers that I have dealt with have been good the couple of times I have been forced to deal with them. It all just depends. Some dealers will almost bend over backwards for you, and others would piss in your cup holders after you leave (figuratively).
There's an alternate universe where the dealership loans you a stickered up demo truck & tells you to carry on to texas while they diagnose your truck, & they get you singing their praises on a couple of videos, & having their name in front of crowds at LS Fest on your tow rig... but they seem to have screwed that one!
WOW! What an awesome person Chris is to offer his truck to you so that you could get back home! JUST WOW!! And to the Ford Dealer , middle finger salute to you for being such an ass🕳.. Thank you Chris!!
Ford has a serious problem with its dealer network. I have had great luck with Ford products, but their dealerships are probably the worst in the industry.
On god
Supreme Ford of Slidell just leave a honest review, imagine if it was you completely stranded for the whole night
@@ItziiSpiNz I was going to conclude the same thing - seems to match up on Google maps with the service road between the dealership and the highway, and the building split between Ford (in the foreground of the video, and the nissan sign approx 50 yards down the road). Left them a one star review for their lack of empathy.
Ouch....im not a clairvoyant...but I can see a mountain of bad press heading towards a Ford dealership....
Can you imagine the goodwill that dealer would have gotten if they just accomodated him in this situation and arranged for trailer storage. They missed a golden opportunity. Remember in way or the other it all comes back.
They don't care they know all the dope will be lining up to buy some over priced Lighting, or that broken down Bronco, or that POS Maverick. See when you have brain dead customers it easy to fool them again and again. Time to switch to a real truck eight Toyota or Honda, and before you tell me it will not tow a small country. Time to leave all that stuff at home or get a real tucking company to move it for you. Sure less expensive in the long run then to buy a Ford, Gm or Dodge anything.
Dealers make the absolute bare minimum on "warranty" issues...that and I am sure they were booked up with people who made actual appointments for service work.. you think that Ford dealer gives a rats ass who this guy is ?.... they don't... not even in the slightest
You built the perfect tow rig, I’d drive it and not worry about a dealership ever again.
When he first got the new truck, I was like....what was all that work for?! Lol He worked his ass off on the Fummins and then bought a newish truck! I get it though, I've done ding dong stuff like that thinkin I was being a smart guy just for it to turn back on me lol
@@Smokkedandslammed I get the anxiety that he had about "yet another thing to maintain", but New trucks have new problems. Older diesel might be inefficient, but it's all stupid reliable. Imagine how differently this video would be if the service department was a little bit sympathetic of the situation. "Sure, throw your trailer in the corner of this huge lot we have for a couple hours, lets figure it out."
I remember learning about Net Promoter Scores when working in the service industry, essentially for every BAD experience that someone has at a place, they tell ~7 other people about it, at minimum. For positive experiences it's ~3 people. In Taylor's case as of now its 92,149 people that have heard of it.
Be nice ya'll, it comes around.
Well now is 234k people know to avoid new ford trucks with pos warranty
The owner probably shit himself when saw that Taylor had 600k+ subscribers.

Yup. Life long Ford person, but their dealerships have become a deal breaker.
Canceled orders on a Bronco and Lightning because two different dealerships started tacking on surcharges. There’s a reason Ford is the OEM pushing hardest for direct to sales reform.

Plus with a few extra tit-bits tossed into it, that cab can be made just as comfortable as the new one was going to be - or better (especially if he kits it out with soft carpet interior etc.) wink-wink...
I hate dealing with dealerships. They will do everything they can to make sure that you aren't covered by your warranty thus sticking you with an outrageous bill. That comment that the service writer made about moving your trailer would have sent me over the edge. Service means nothing anymore and a warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on. Shoutout to Chris for being an awesome dude.
I might have punched the guy in the fucking throat and said "sorry, what did you say?"
I would sue tf out of them
Agreed. Also, for a customer like Taylor not being able to rely on the warranty service to at least keep him moving forward is a 10,000% deal breaker!! He’s screwed both ways since the warranty makes him unable to get the part and fix it himself, taking away the only benefit warranty provides! Dealerships are great when well-managed, but comparable to the worst insurance company when poorly managed. That trailer comment proves the service manager either is a) a 5h1+ human being with no compassion or b) has never taken a road trip with so much in one trailer and the stress that multiplies on a situation…or both.
Absurd, I'm a tech at a ford dealership. We punch the causal part into the system and it shows if it's covered or not. There no hidden agenda to not warranty things. If anything we try our best to get items covered as it's a pain in the ass dealing with upset customers. There zero incentive to not warranty thing's that are covered. Get your head outta the sand 👎👎
@blazinlow86 He's obviously not saying a low level employee like a tech has a hidden agenda but the organization and higher level managers do everything they can to maximize profits by any means instead of doing what is right.
Hats off to Chris, I hope there is more people like you.
I was really sad when you decided to get rid of the Fummins after investing all that effort. My vote is definitely keep it, because I'd trust the work you put into it more than a warranty. I wish you could at least get to the second event your were planning on, but yeah, you have to check her over first.
Fummins all the way! You have invested so much into it to be a phenomenal tow rig. I'd trust your work more than a newer diesel truck, there are just way too many things that can go wrong.
My hat is off for Chris for letting you use his truck. There are still good people in this world.
Wow Chris is the man thank you Chris there is probably a lot of good people out there like this but you don't hear about it.loved to hear this great story.Bess you man
Depending on how the truck situation goes, if they dont take care of the issue and reimburse you for your hassle- equivalent to a rental fee or whatever, you need to let us all know the dealer name and we will handle the rest from there. This stuff needs to stop, it will never stop if everyone continues to accept it.
It was in the video, Supreme Ford of Slidell
100% agree
He’s asking not to bombard with negative reviews because his truck is still there. People already bombed it tho.. It’s still really shitty of them, regardless of the service the way they treated him with the trailer “can’t put in here” and “when are you gonna move that” just a typical shitty Ford dealership. I hope they all go under 👎🏾
I've never heard of a dealership behaving like that... I woulda took help to get the trailer home, AND someone to trailer the truck home as well... fuck giving that place any business if they're gonna behave that way.

For sure I would definitely be making a call Ford main office because that ain't even cool
@David Yarbrough: in the end, who cares if Ford makes it right NOW? They ALREADY FUXX3D up so massively they would have lost my business FOREVER. Those trucks are the most expensive vehicles Ford makes (besides GT supercars) and those customers should be treated WELL; not like they are an imposition and not worth the effort of giving good customer service…the truck only has 50-60k on it FFS!!! This is going to cost them BIG, no matter how nice Taylor plays it because he’s a good guy not given to putting people on blast. He has a large following and everyone in the YT motorsports community will know about Ford’s 5hi++y warranty customer service (even if Ford bends over backwards with awesome warranty service from this point forward).
I see by your comments you've got things in order. I noted Chris has shown up, too. As an insurance guy, there's no way that dealership can assume liability for the bailment of your trailer. First and foremost, lets all shout out Chris for the help. Whoever he is to help a person in their time of need, shows the true character that he has. Second Taylor don't beat yourself up over the truck. You said it best that the sole purpose of getting it was for that new truck reliability and warranty that comes along with it. This is why i graduated to a Class 8 Semi converted to tow vehicle for my RV as a Travel Nurse. You just reached the point i did with newer warrantied trucks like i did. I started my journey in a older 1994 Dodge Ram 2500 w/Cummins. It was a vehicle i had for a very long time and put over 300k on it myself daily driving it. The minute i started to use it for towing my 5th wheel RV, the reliability of the truck suffered and i broke down often fixing it on the side of the road, but i was able to do it myself in most cases. I reached a point that i wanted something newer and more comfortable to tow with on the longer trips and that was under warranty to not worry about for a while, that was the mistake your going through that i fell under also. I bought a 1 year old 17k miles 6.4 Powerstroke F350 and i had a similar situation as you happen, the truck broke down on me in the middle of the dessert going through Arizona and the closest dealer that could look at it was hours away. This was prior to the knowledge of how bad these engines would become. They diagnosed it and informed me i needed a new engine, injector stuck open and melted a cylinder... they were willing to put me in a loaner, but only a F150 at the most, which was totally useless to me outside of just commuting in it.. so after 5 weeks of them waiting on parts they returned the truck to me and i sold it to get away from Diesel trucks for a while. I just had a bad taste in my mouth, because it took forever to fix, was not reliable like i thought it would be, and parts were difficult to find for a while even being barely a year old. So my next truck ended up being a brand new 0 mile 2011 F350 6.2v8 gas pickup, because i wanted to try something gas and Ford was willing to buy my truck back from me and give me a massive discount on a brand new pickup after multiple other issues with the 6.4 powerstroke. I drove that for a year, was very reliable, just gutless.. no power while towing, scared me at times to make it to the top of a hill... and the fuel cost was astronomically more than the diesel truck. I was desperate to find a more reliable truck to tow my RV, because i really enjoy travel nursing, but the transporting everything was just killing me.... and someone at a RV resort i was staying at introduced me to their Class 8 Semi they used and i fell in love with the idea after they let me test drive and experience it for a while. So i sold my almost 2 year old gas pickup and bought a used class 8 volvo sleeper cab w/700k miles and replaced the commercial 5th wheel with a between the frame rail RV style 5th wheel so i could drop commercial insurance on the truck and re-title it as a motorhome with regular price insurance. That was 2013 when i did that and 10 years later i don't regret it one bit.. The Class 8 class of pickup is so much more comfortable to tow with, the RV is not even felt behind the truck so far less stressful, been stupid reliable.. the only time i've ever had a breakdown in the truck to date was something on the road bounced up and took out a airline distribution block and the local truck stop had 24hour service come out and fix it at 1am in the morning for me. Then to top it all off, the semi I bought has a auxAPU unit, which i use all the time going on day trips or weekend trips to camp remotely... i leave the RV at the resort, pull up to a park or site and have the beauty of a bed and a/c and heat in the cab available along with powering everything. Look into them man.. its saved me so much money over the years between savings on hotel cost while traveling and such...i honestly wish i would have found out about them sooner.. the fact i use it for such a light load it barely works... so it should last me a very long time and i average between 11-13mpg no matter if towing or bobtailing it somewhere..when i had the gas truck i averaged between 4-6mpg towing....
I looked at some of these trucks just for fun based on your story and I was first surprised by how many miles that have on them for their age (of course it makes sense haha) and the 2nd thing that surprised me was how cheap you can buy them for. A lot cheaper than these new F350's that's for sure! And 11-13 mpg isn't that bad really. Hell I pulled a 5k pound load the other day and got 14mpg in my little gas 5.3l. No way I'm towing a 5th wheel with it either.
This is really interesting. Thanks for the experience.

I'm a heavy duty vehicle mechanic. I whole-heartedly agree with everything nurse Huston says. It's all in the numbers. The number of class 8 trucks built in a year compared to all all medium duty (class 5 through 7) has got to be huge, 10 or more to one.
William touched on an important point. Maintenance, you can get parts and find technicians everywhere 24 7.
Last point though is try to get so.e training so you can use a standard transmission or possibly an automated manual. Hydraulic automatics are good in stop start vocations , buses, refuse. But for what you're doing, gear up and you'll never look back.
Absolutely unbelievable. You kept it so calm and collected when that warranted a huge Karen moment. Shout out to Chris absolute legend.

That dealership had a chance to shine a great light on themselves and missed a golden opportunity by not being supportive. I'm guessing the owner blew a gasket at the employee that seemed to not have any empathy for your situation.
The insurance company and the dealership are two complete and different companies. Dealers offer this type of insurance to costumers as an option. Dealerships don't provide the relief from these policies , the insurance company does. The dealer only covers their warranty , which is the manufactures warranty and doesn't apply to trade in vehicles that are purchased used. I bought a car from a dealership and they offered a warranty for a price. I asked to see the policy terms and after reading them, I said no thanks. Skip the warranty folks.
That is absolute truth..........
But the fact is the dealer will use ANYTHING he can find to squirm out of giving anyone free repairs no matter who is backing the warranty. Everything new is overpriced and built for disposal and any implied warranty is a fight to make use of. The new motor vehicle business in America is dangerously close to crash and burn due to customer dissatisfaction.
@@mikehatch2114 the manufacturer's warreny covers the vehicle for a specified period of time and milage starting from when it was first sold. If it was bought used within that period the new owner still has the remaining coverage.
@@crazyoilfieldmechanic3195 of course dealerships don't want to give anyone free repairs. They're businesses, not charities and the people wirking there are employees, not volunteers. But warrenty isn't free work. If it's a manufacturer's warrenty the work is paid for by the manufacturer. If it's extended warreny the work is paid fir by the warrenty company. Extended warrenties are pretty easy to work with. You diagnose the problem, explain what's wrong and give them a quote for the repair. They either approve the job or they don't. Manufacturer warrenty is different. They demand more documentation only to pay less than the job is worth, the payout often being dependant on appoval after the the job is done. No one wants to do more work for less pay or no pay at all so they will naturally be extra vigilant when it comes to manufacturer warrenty claims.
@@lb9gta307 Depends on the dealership. I had an F-150 where the motor ceased due to loss of oil. I had been doing oil changes and there was no oil on the outside of the engine. This means that a gasket failed causing an internal leak and burned out all the oil. The dealership refused to honor the warranty and said that a new engine would cost me around $5,000. I know exactly what they were trying to do... try to get me to pay, but behind my back make the warranty claim, therefore getting paid double for the work!
Glad to see that there are still people like Chris out there, here’s to being more like Chris…
You're handling it a lot better than I would have. No love lost for Fords.

So glad there are great people willing to help you out!! I don't know them, but thank you for stepping up!!
Upgrade the fummins and make it the great tow rig that you intended when you built it
Had the same experience with my F450 6.7 diesel. Bought it with relatively few miles and after a couple of years things just started to break; one thing after another. Always took it to the dealer for service and they were very helpful; but they were mystified regarding the one-thing-after-another failures - all having to do with the engine, by the way - fuel system was the main culprit. Constantly throwing codes. So relieved that I got rid of it. Never again.
I haven’t watched you in years , ever since X-Type Jaguar and I’ve always loved the great attitude and ability to make due. I’m happy I decided to watch this video and see you’re still at it. Glad you made it home and s/o to Chris!
You're experiencing just a small bit of what the trucking industry has been dealing with these emission trucks. New doesn't mean less maintenance. Actually means MORE!
I HATED working on the 6.7 Powerstroke. Every single one of them leaked oil within the first year, many water pumps fail and the diesel emission systems are terrible. DEF heaters fail regularly as well as the multitude of NOx and EGT sensors. I was stranded out on a test drive when an EGT sensor failed and the truck shut off. Refused to even crank.
When the DEF system has ANY problems it'll start counting down miles until it will limit its' speed then refuse to start. Most owners didn't show up with them in this condition (yes...we had many) until there were only a few miles left before the truck bricked itself. You cannot reset this counter....you have to fix the problem (or hope you did) then drive it and once the computer is satisfied it's supposed to clear the counter and light.
Driving an F-450 dually from the local Gas Company (fully loaded box truck) the counter hit '0' and according to the readout on the dash it was going to limit itself to 50 mph...but that's not what it did...it threw itself into REVERSE at 50 mph!!!! Man...that was dramatic and it destroyed the transmission. Everyone was upset ...including me having to wrestle a hopping, smoking truck off the road without hitting anything...very exciting. I'm sorry but you couldn't give me a 6.7 Ford and anyone expecting to buy a new one and then depend on it for work is likely going to be disappointed....or worse.
Edit: I wrote the above before watching the video. Low fuel pressure is often the pressure regulator that is in the rear of the motor drivers side. When you pull it out there will likely be metallic debris in it which Ford will then say is YOUR fault from water in the fuel. Most owners don't regularly drain the water separator and Ford says you must replace the ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM. BS. We've replaced several pressure regs (they're not that expensive) without doing the entire system with success. You are looking at $5-7000 for the repair if you do it the way Ford says to do it. See...that's why I hate them.
Wait until they make you use electric/battery powered trucks!!

Agreed! Worked at 24+ dealerships. And it's really comes down to the leadership in the building. I did contract work for them. And most didn't want to give you a second of their time. They would just walk away from you. But if something was wrong....oh shit! They have all the time in the world to talk to you. Most high-end dealers, the management was amazing! Porsche, Mercedes, Acura, Lotus, etc. They actually gave a shit. They would drop or stop talking to someone to help or fix a problem. #1 thing at any dealership is who you know. And when you find that one person, only deal with them.
Also, God Bless Chris and those fellow people like him who understands that dire situation it was.
Damn, this dealership is crazy! Back when i was working in a shop, we got a tow-in with a car, that wasn't any of "our brands". The guy was stranded. One of our techs were told to drop everything to get the problem diagnosed as best we could, just to see if it was something we could fix for him to get back home.
We had him back on the road again within 5 hrs.
I have “been there”, and people like Chris restore my faith in my fellow man.
You were on the right path when you built the fummins in the first place. I'm happy to see it back and hope you keep it going. I would sell the ford you cant work on yourself but good luck in what ever you decide to do. Much Love to Chris for helping out great guy!
You're going to be alright, we all have to learn. It's good to hear some people still care what happens to others.

As someone who just finished a cross country road trip in a car that's older than I am watching this video was rlly hard. The anxiety of being so far from anyone that can help is so terrible. Thankfully we made the trip pretty smoothly, just lost an o2 sensor. HUGE shoutout to the homie for lending you that truck he's a real one for that.
This situation is literally my worst nightmare. Glad y’all are back home safe
This is the first time I watched your videos, and the headline caught my attention. Over 20 years ago, traveling to Alabama from Arizona, I had fuel injector pump troubles on a dual-wheel chevy. I was pulling a heavy 37' foot fifth wheel back home from a 3-year stay in AZ. On I10 in AZ while pulling a grade in Texas Canyon, I lost most of my power. I was able to limp into El Paso and get into a campground. I had fewer options than you. I spoke with a recently retired colleague back in Alabama and within 24 hours from Clanton AL he showed up in El Paso with Dodge Cummings and pulled me and my trailer home. I had managed to get the truck to an El Paso dealer and they gave me a ride back to the campground. I noticed you have an updated video, so I will get to see the end of the story. I had issues with the warranty on recently replaced fuel injector pumps with my truck. The bow-tie boys would not cover anything.
I used to work for a dealership (different brand) 40 yrs ago and it comes down to who owns it. Their individually owned and operated so if they care, then their team cares. Sorry for your troubles but some of my faith in humanity has been restored in Chris coming to your rescue!
Hate to pull this card, but try talking to Vaughn. He’ll know who to escalate it to.
Or might know a non dogshit dealer 😅
What about us non-influencers? I would probably still be on the side of the road guarding my trailer.

I can. It's a huge trailer and I'm sure they're don't want to be liable for it. That said asking him when the trailer will be gone in the manner he claims they did is dickered.
Excellent! Glad you guys made it home. Yes, vehicle dealerships can really be different after the purchase.
You sir are not alone! Really enjoyed watching this. I am currently in the middle of a 4,400 mile road trip in a newly purchased 2019 Sierra AT4 w/6.2L, just under 11,000 miles on the odometer. The fuel pump control module has decided to fail, and I'm stranded in Minot, ND waiting for the parts dept to open at the dealer after the holiday weekend...
That’s shit timing man. Hope it gets resolved soon!
How are you doing man?
Any updates?
6.2 are problems.
Got it fixed! The DTC was P129F. Luckily it broke in a town with a GM dealer, easy fix for the most part - a new fuel pump control module. First model year of the L87 and the new style fuel pump controller, luck of the draw having a failure I suppose!
I'm sorry this happened Taylor. I had my F250 threatening to go into limp mode while towing my RV through the Smoky Mountains. I had to stop for the day and wait for a dealership to open, but when I got it there, without calling ahead because they weren't open yet, they actually got it in, diagnosed and fixed within a couple of hours. It was also 100% covered by the warranty. Obviously, this wasn't as big a deal as what you have, but I wanted to affirm that there are good dealers out there. Rusty Wallace Ford, Dandridge, TN
I was 10 hours from my house in South Bend on the way back from Wisconsin when my starter went out in my Jeep. On the newer V8 Grand Cherokees you can barely touch the starter, let alone hit it with a hammer. Local Jeep dealer had it replaced in 24 hours. They definitely have the power to expedite things on a case to case basis. And I am the type to never rush a mechanic, but in this case I needed them to. This dealer sucks.

This is certainly an eye opener and something thats been on the back of my mind also. We are just about to leave on a trip towing which is around 4000 miles in your figures. We actually ordered a new tow vehicle for warranty etc however it's still not in the country so I'm now prepping our old faithful.
You raise really valid points regarding if something was to go wrong with either vehicle. You are so dependent on the closest dealer and really have no control. Bring back the Fummins, it will be a great series to watch 👍
You probably wont see this, but my input: Definitely sell the 6.7 and keep/upgrade the fummins. Being that your job basically relies on the truck getting you to events, I think it would be the better choice. Like this situation, new vehicles are harder to do simple diagnosing, have more electronic failure points, need dealerships to do the work, etc. When they work, they're obviously better than an old truck, but when they fail, its typically a major issue leaving you stranded. With the fummins, YOU built it basically from the ground up and know the truck in and out. Being an older cummins engine, its a lot less complicated, and if anything were to happen, you'd most likely be able to diagnose it yourself quickly , and fix it easily.
Yeah I made the mistake of thinking engineers with millions in R&D could do a more sufficient job. I was wrong. Which is unfortunate. The whole idea was if it saves me missing even one event it saves me thousands of dollars that would have been wasted. Instead. It caused me to do just that.
Yea newer trucks just have more failure points , and the emissions systems choke the life out of them.. they always say a ford body, with a Cummins engine and Allison trans is the best truck out there, and you have that, and it even has most of the bells and whistles the new trucks have anyway lol
@@Taylordrifts
Actually Taylor,
You did far more R&D on the Fummin. You completed the proof of concept by putting it to work right after the build and testing.
Ford still has problems with the same friggin fuel system for how many years?????

You are good at what you do because you take that extra time, even when you say you are just throwing it together. We all know.
@cameronsienkiewicz6364 Anyone who knows transmission would pick a 6R140 ford trans in a heartbeat over an Allison..
@98Blower I've been told the H.O. Cummins with the Aisin tranny is the strongest and least problematic setup there is for these trucks. They drive them to 500,000 mi and sell em.
Everyone i've known who has had issues with their ford has had similar experiences. Best bet is give the Fummins a good update, and have a good reliable truck.
Just had a very similar scenario happen to my family and I last week. Got stranded in Tennessee 11 hours from home for 5 extra days. Multiple parts failed on the car due to a recall that we were not aware of. Dealer was trying to avoid the situation from the beginning but eventually got on board and helped us out. The irony is that the recall notice was in the mail box when we got home…..
Hang in there man. We need more people like Chris. I can't even get started on my opinion of new vehicles now or dealer shenanigans. This said I'm glad you are home safe.
I hate things went so sideways, but Chris is awesome. With almost 800,000 views and almost 4,200 comments, what if we all gave the dealership negative reviews on google for the lack of customer service. There is strength in numbers.
Dont do that. Spam reviews get pulled down often. Its also not an accurate review of a local business
Taylor just needs to make some magnetic signs for his vehicle saying Ford dealers are crap, but most of us know that already.
You also need to remember it has a 3/36000 base and a 5/50000 powertrain warranty and he stated the milage at 50000. He also stated that he's put about 10-15k miles on the truck which means he would have bought the truck AS IS. As for not allowing the trailer on the lot.. that is sometimes normal depending on the space available.
@@IanNubbit and some businesses get bad reviews scrubbed for a price. Reviews in general aren’t reliable good or bad.

Sad to hear about the breakdown, but pumped to see the fummins back in action!! Sell the new one! Just make the fummins more comfy for long trips, quiet the exhaust some etc. Who says you can not have the best of both worlds? only you.
I worked at a Ford dealership for years and I think you unfortunately had a bad experience. We would have travelers break down from time to time and we would let them stay in their RV in the parking lot we would even run power out to their RV. Parking a trailer in the secure shop lot no questions asked. The 6.7 power stroke is a solid motor it shouldn't have let you down. That being said the fumnins is what brought me to your channel so I'm excited to see her getting some love.
This is the norm for dealerships treating people like crap I'm a diesel mechanic and see these people from all dealerships after they wiggle out of the warranty they come to us. While I agree it's a good motor, the issues are putting tons of cheap computer components on it then this happens, and it's all makes and models, no exceptions, even Germans' cars, same stuff junk
I wouldn't waste my breath arguing about Ford diesels being worth anything except the 7.3 because the rest are way overpriced garbage but it's just a fact that dealerships of most any brand are rarely helpful and will do most anything to keep from doing free repairs and pretty much always have. The electronics were garbage in the 80's and haven't ever improved much although I suppose the early 2000's LS computer and the rest of it's rigamaroll have proved themselves very reliable.
@Crazy oilfield mechanic That's a stretch saying it's in the same category as the 6.4 6.0. It's a solid engine, what's wrong with the new ones is all the electronics on them currently. I have a 2016 F450 6.7 EGR deleted, DPF deleted, fass fuel system and a mild tune. Im not worried about it lasting till 400k. The new engines are fine, it's all the BS they put on them. I bet with a aftermarket fuel system, full delete and a mild tune that truck would be perfect. I still like the Fummins though lol
I like that even though you're only turning it around, you still follow through with the habit of hooking everything up :)
There are still good people out there. Always pay it forward when you can. You never know when it might be you.
