It is such a privilege to have your work available for free on youtube. You are passing on such a wonderful skill to people who would otherwise never have the chance to learn the craft. And you do it with such pleasure and patience - it is truly remarkable. I've improved my scrollwork drawings drastically by watching all your videos, following along while drawing and dissecting your work. Thank you for what you do!!!

I am not making carvings or jewels or anything, just drawing. I had no idea scrollwork had its entire world behind it, but I'm glad i do now. Really good video.
What a wonderful tutorial! It makes you feel like a one to one with an old friend, no wonder Ken Hunt is a Master Engraver, no one comes close. Chris B.
I appreciate that you showed how a beginner would do it. Art teachers are often so preoccupied by proving their skill that they can’t imagine what it feels like to be a learner and I don’t enjoy most art classes for that reason.
Oh man, I just spent several hours making my honey a bracelet out of silver with scrolls on it. I wish I had waited until I saw this. It would have elevated my work somewhat. Thank you!

I have an amazing story. One day I was driving home, when all a sudden the Lord came to me in spirit. I felt very close to Him. I knew if I asked him to play any song on the radio he would, I guess to bless my faith. So I said "ok, Lord play "Come as you are by Nirvana". I turned on the radio and the song started playing right there on the spot, perfectly… I started getting flooded with chills like a waterfall, crying, and trembling. He stayed with me for 10 minutes in my driveway. until I got outta the car. A couple months after that I started getting amazing prayers answered way more often, because it helped me quit doubting when I pray and I was lined up with biblical instructions. It's 6 years later and I still get answered prayers in Jesus name.
@@CarverEngraver Thank you. Let me share a bit more if you're interested. A while after that happened, I was watching a preacher on UA-cam. I felt this compassion come over me by the Holy Spirit. So I prayed for him. "Father, I pray you double this man's ministry, his finances, and his marital life, in Jesus holy name, I demand and I decree. Amen." The next day he released a new video. He was standing on stage for a bit, smiling. Then he said "The Lord has just doubled his ministry. He's doubled his finances and He's doubled his marital life... My heart started pounding from shock, because he was saying my exact prayer from the night before. I wasn't even thinking about how I had prayed when he said it. Then later that week another prayer just as impossible was answered. It went on like that for months. I've had trials and tribulations, and ups and downs, but it still happens.
I have been drawing for years, I have used those knead erasers since Jr. High and learned something new from you. I have always used the knead erasers like a normal pink rubber one, except to get into tight places I's stretch it out and the rub. Rolling it to lighten is GENIUS!! I have watched to get into firearm engraving for many years and have watched probably 65% of the videos on here to learn how. I think I'm at a point I might buy some tools. Thank you for this video on drawing your filigree/scroll work.
Thank you for mentioning the different disciplines and grades of workmanship early in the video. Gives a nice scale of what a beginner can expect getting into scrollwork. Excellent for a beginner like me. 😁
I can draw a gun or vehicle almost perfectly, but i never practiced artistic thing's like trees and leaves, or shells. I just finally tried to draw an engrave design without any knowlege, and it looks messy. I found this, and I'm copying what is being shown on the video. Is this method something that is repeated from engraver to engraver, or would it be using someone elses creativity if i put this design on my tools? In other words, do i have your / his permission. I heard you about saying it wouldnt work on wood if its too small. I am also grateful for finding this channel, sharing this gentlemans work. Thank you both (or all who are involved).
