May I speak as an ex Infantry RSM. WE have never fought a war nor won one without reserve forces, these boys here are a credit. Hearts of Oak! Steady boys steady, quite brilliant!
I love this march - it has great meaning for me as it was played by a band at my father's funeral as his coffin was carried out of the church. He was a RAN musician then bandmaster, so he would have marched off the parade ground many, many times to this tune.
Yup, the RSM was right - top-notch drill, impeccable turn-out. Puts some Regulars to shame. First time I have seen the Navy sword-salute (or I had forgotten the difference). Now THAT is the way to salute with a sword!
You can see the PRIDE in the RNR - unpaid volunteers, same as the TA - who give up their spare time to be readily called to serve the country. I can certainly say that there are very few full time RN Service personnel who can match the RNR should they be put on parade. Most don't give a damn and couldn't care less about pride, honour and tradition. Me? ex RN Senior Rate (24 yr service, 84-07)
cpo(in what was sona,r lol) .they changed the badges....did the field gun earls court when andy got married (he's a tart)....sm2...money and politics killed us :(...but we live on!! RN
Whatever happened to the quality!? It used to be much better on this one: now the video looks like it was filmed using a potato...at least the soundtrack is still okay.
@RoyalGuardOfHonour hey durign WW2 you guys had a pretty strong navy...the cruiser Berwick, Black Pricne like come on u had a strong Navy (and im Canadian btw...altho im part British :) )
Don't want to degenerate this into a "them" and "us" debate - we're more aligned now than we've ever been. However, we do get paid as RNR - the same daily rate as the RN. Me?? Mobilised reservist of 12 years, off to somewhere warm and sunny with the Andrew for the next 6 months.

I maybe welsh, but the hairs on my neck are standing to attention.
Very true, although it'd be even finer with Enfield instead of L85A2s
