They said the same about Kirk Franklin and before that about the Clark Sisters with their song “Sunshine”. I remember when I was on the youth choir when Kirk Franklin came out and we wanted to sing his songs-switch it up from the hymns. The parents weren’t feeling it. I remember telling my mom it’s no different than Joyful Joyful on Sister Act 2 😂 They end up letting us sing KF song. Lol

At the ending of "No Other Help," they were mesmerized. They had never witnessed anything like it. Tye was soooo far ahead of his time. Around 2006 they finally caught up with him 🤣

I remember these songs on the Concepts and Ideas album which I got as a member of the Tye Tribbett message board in the early 2000s. GA and Soundcheck were next level.

Even with God at the core of their music, this was *so* punk rock. That tribute was fire, even if the guitarist needed a tune up- they pulled from that Jimi National Anthem solo.
That solo, sonically, has been used to describe the sort of destruction and disarray either created by or brought onto America, using that in a time of remembrance was SO THOUGHTFUL AND COOL.
And mostly, the pastors and leadership who gave them the space to do this are so appreciated. People like that change things and they matter so much. Thanks for sharing this dope set!!!!!!!

I remember hearing a bootleg cassette tape of a Ty Tribbett concert in 1996/97. A friend of mine later started going to Temple university & all they talked about was this Ty Tribbett dude & how wild he was & dope the music was lol. Amazing to see how far he's come.

Tye has been a favorite artist of mine since I first saw him on a Dove Awards program!!! Well ahead of many secular artists as well!!! I've never seen him perform in concert but hope is eternal!!!
Certainly a favorite I'm glad I got to see those guys in the beginning..I saw some concerts that were just unexplainable I wish I would have had recorded back then I saw Spanky play with Sheila E on a gospel set Philly live recording and drummer Lil John that was insane no video just audio words can not explain 👍❤️

Ok, apparently i'm the only one thinking the guitar player was totally out of both tune and key most of the time. To me , this sounds like a shredding parody video more than anything. The whole thing sounds like total tonal chaos.

Not the other way around. There was a time when almost every human being in america was in church on Sunday.
