Also E90 330i was only made in 2006. I have an 06 330i automatic and it's acceleration seems pretty much like yours except when I put it in sport mode. The car becomes a lot more responsive.
A very easy MOD for these that I did on my 2009 328i, is swap the US airbox for the European version. I found one on Ebay for about $115. Better fuel economy and it accelerates better in the top end.
I found it on the UK ebay site. It even had the MAF sensor in it, but I swapped that for the US one, since I wasn't sure if they were different. Look forward to watching the build.

Might be late but this is NOT the sport package. Looks like an exclusive or something. Sport package has M-Sport logos literally everywhere and nicer bumpers
I used to have one about two years ago but it was a little too numb for me and the fact it didn't have a oil dip stick was annoying. Now I have 2 E46 sedans, a 330i m sport with a 5 speed and a 330i zhp. Never getting a newer BMW!
I've had one since January now. IMO the spread could be closer with a taller 6th gear overdrive. Would enjoy to drive it on a decent set of coils, camber plates and wide wheels/tires all around but my 135i already has all those mods, and it's water pump also blew the day before you posted this video LOL
Should be okay- though it got hot enough to make the reservoir cap relieve itself (140 (c?) written on it). I've read of a ton of people really ignoring the warnings and somehow their cars are alright. Really looking forward to see what you do with the car.
Thanks for the reply! I asked you because you have lots of experience with a few cars and know what you’re talking about. I actually already have a 128i. It’s not a slick top, but it is a 6spd manual. That was my main criteria for the car. I haven’t done any suspension work yet, but I will very soon as I found out the reason why my car drives like a boat. I have blown suspension up front. I’m hoping Koni Yellows with Eibach springs will fix the boat feeling
I would guess the fun of this is the process itself. Did you consider a G37 which doesn't cost much more and comes with a lot more power from the factory?
Yes I did. This car was very inexpensive at a little under 6k after taxes and getting it home. Also all of the maintenance has been done on it. Even unscheduled stuff like the electric water pump.
Hey Zent, Interesting, as I never heard of this complaint from other stick-drivers, so i'm that much less sad for driving an automatic (in case wife needs to drive it) plus it's fun-enuf with the tiptronic and all the smart phone diddling these days ;] I got my '06 330i (Sport Pkg like yours) way back in '08 and it's been a fantastic 'daily' ..and since i did the usual: shocks, water pump, h-gasket, at 190k! miles the care is practically worthless on CL, but for me it's an absolute Gem - the N52 still runs like new - amazing! So I'll run it to the ground ...having a new F30 (Sport Line ..total BS) as a backup ..which I hate btw. Good luck with that project, looking fwd to seeing what you'll come up with.. vc
Bharat Shelat ,, I had to change spark plugs , ignition coils, oil change, and the only major problem I had was the intake manifold. I did the maintenance myself with the help of my friend. If I would of gone to the mechanic shop I would of been fucken screwed. Great car to own if you know someone that knows how to work on them but if you plan on going to a mechanic shop it’s going to be expensive to maintain lol
Bharat Shelat yea man I would definitely recommend this model ,, more power and torque when compared to the 325i and 328i while getting the same mpg . I’m averaging 28 mpg on road trips. Stay away from automatic transmission Bmw transmissions are not the best they always have problems. Stick with the manual.
I wasn't sure about this comment cause u had e90 before m but still e90....that car was a reason why I sub the channel Anyway force is strong , Good luck with project
Nice pickup Zent! When I was looking for a replacement for my 03 Accord v6 sedan in 2012 I drove one of these and a ton of other cars before deciding on an 06 E46 330ci 6spd with ZHP performance package and 60K miles for 16500. Just turned over 100K miles and still absolutely love that car but may eventually do a limited slip. I believe that your car is an 06 no? Shorter gears are going to really wake that up. Are you going to be adding lightness too?
@@kevinmejia8082 I ended up getting a 2007 BMW 335i Twin Turbo alpine white it’s on my channel runs great. But just bought a c5 corvette so I will likely be selling the BMW

2005 as well.
great car, just bought a 6 spd last week
Hows your oil pan gasket? Thats another thing that will need to be replaced and youre looking at around $1200 with labour.

Thanks Zach, I appreciate the link.
Thanks for the tip! How much did it improve your fuel economy?
Is a 2010 camry v6 faster than the e90 330i?
Might be late but this is NOT the sport package. Looks like an exclusive or something. Sport package has M-Sport logos literally everywhere and nicer bumpers
what gear set did you order i just got one 2 days ago !!!
What tire setting are you running...
love to see future more episodes of this project car. well done +ZentRose
Thanks!

Good choice! I liked my E46 330ci a lot although I regret not purchasing a sedan instead of a coupe.
$300+ for an oil sensor on my 135i. fortunately covered under warranty.
Dylan Prasad E90 too numb? You'd hate to drive the f30 then. It's a big difference switching back and forth between an e46 and an f30
Matthew M I drove a f30 and it was a cloud. My e46 seems old after! But I like the feel.
Would it be better to get the 328 instead?
omg at least i am not the only one who bought a 330i as a project car.
What is your opinion on the 335is?
price? mileage?
Under $10,000 now. I was blessed and just added one to my stable for $500. It will compliment the E46!
Keep up the great videos!
Justin Slawek ...$500?
@@joemama38 Yep. Looking at a 335i tomorrow as well!

@@joemama38 My aunt. Yesterday was actually my birthday. I found a 335i Coupe w/ 112k for $2900!!!!

Nice, I would be waiting for the future videos of this car!

How would you compare this to an ap1? I have an ap1 at the moment and I’m thinking of swapping to a 328-330 as a daily.

Zent, do you know much about 128i? Wouod it be a good candidate for track with suspension mods?
Yeah I would try to get a slick top (no sunroof) for weight savings and 6 speed manual. You'll have a fun street/track car.

a high quality mic will go a long way
Agree. Please excuse the crappy in-car audio.
I own a 2006 330i sport package with the automatic, great car! Also own a 2004 e46 330i ZHP 6 spd manual love that car!!!
Hi Zent do you mind telling us what final gear does it come with from factory & what final gears will you be installing?
This came with 3.15 gears and I ordered an E90 3.64 differential from a junkyard for $100.
ZentRose What benefits will be the benefits of the 3.64 gears?
also what is the mileage
sii claro conocer bmw 330 i 90 manejo de pablo almaraz pero carnet de conducir 2021 si prueba manejo de bwm 330i 90 si yo tambien llave de bwm 330
Wonder how the reliability is compared to the 335's
iliovecaRS no turbo so less things to break and BMWs i6 engine is very very solid.
could you tell us how much you bought it for ? also congrats on new car

which one is better for the long time? e46 or e90 330i?
My E90 was better in almost every way.
e46 lasts longer and can get supercharger upgrades.

nice choice zent! do a burnout
LOL ok. Once I get a proper diff installed that should be no problem!
fantastic car w/out all that turbo lag bullshit
Actually the 335i is known to have little to no turbo lag but then again a 330i is easier to live with as a project car
Agree with s2kguy. Also, the 335d doesn't have much lag either but has TONS of problems. I am hoping the 330i is easier to live with.
