Hi Rob, sorry about the disaster m8, it may be worth while doing a check over at lest once a month for issues that could potentially leave you sitting on the side of the road. I am glad that you managed to sort the issue out and the new wheels make the van into a real looker, very nice. Thanks for sharing. Keep safe m8 and God Bless
Nice wheels m8. Lesson learnt on keeping on top of your vehicle maintenance, it's your home now not just a means of getting from A to B. Have you got decent breakdown and recovery cover?
To get the perfect bed height I put a camping loo in the back as I wanted to at least store that underneath, I then sat on it to see I had enough head clearance & I had plenty so added a few inches to my measurements, I also looked at the size of my storage tubs to check they fitted under which they did, next job was to cut 6 legs & all the other cross members and I then assembled it using L brackets, screws & wood glue (if buying the cheap 3x2 lengths check they're not warped by looking down them) I find homebase cheaper than B&Q btw I finished off the project by adding a hinged top with a thin rope loop & bracket on the wall to attach to. Good luck in you're build, you'll smash it am sure
With my Caddy I fitted a desk area so I could work in peace, and B&Q give you 3 free cuts with wood. If you measure up and design something for your bed then you can get it all made to measure there. 3 free cuts and then 50p for each one after.
Had a similar experience with inside edge of tyres many years ago wearing alarmingly, I now check the tyres regularly, great looking wheels and tyres, I think your drivers side sill may need attention soon.
@@andym2459 and to top it off the bike actually keeps blowing the fuse for the headlight so I had to boot it back so I got it back before it got dark 🙈
I dont understand how some van lifers never seem to do any maintenance until it breaks. Brake pads can be checked visually as well as tyres, and always check you have the tools to change a wheel, but you know that now.😀😀
I think it’s because the van was not long ago mot’d and brakes were not mentioned as an advisory. I’ve been more focused on the bit I knew I had a problem with. I’d checked the tyres as well. It’s just right on the inside. 🤦🏼♂️ But yes totally right. Lesson learned. 👍👌
All four tyres were new just before the MOT in April. I check tyre pressure every fortnight and tread depth once a month. Even when I got the flat it took me some time to find. Because the tread is extremely good across the tyres I didn’t expect the very inner wear. You can’t see it unless the wheel happened to be turned. It’s why I said it was embarrassing in the video though I’m usually hot on maintenance and checks 👍
Lesson learnt. Check your tyre every week. Pressure, visual, and run your hand over them. Engine on full lock in each direction, and you can see the inner tread. Hope you got each wheel balanced when the tracking was checked. Safe travelling.

Not really a disaster but a weekend well spent - love the bike 🏍️
@@JBLegal09 definitely had lots to do lol. Ah thanks ☺️
Sorry to see you’ve had issues buddy. I get my tracking done regular and also wheel alignment just to be sure
Yeah £50 for tracking though! I was like I’m sure it was like a tenner back in the day lol
@@BikerVanLife that’s a ridiculous price. Did they only do tracking or did they do alignment too?
@nemoscamperadventures7563 wheel alignment too. They use hunters

Ok maybe a good idea to keep a note of useful places. Tyre suppliers, mechanic etc. atm you have the choice of both worlds.
@@jaspermearns4807 This is true mate 👍
Thank gawd you had the bike eh!

Have you looked at single z beds
Yeah I couldn’t find the right size length wise

@@BikerVanLife New wheels look good.
You selling those old wheels?
I was but sold them already. Fairly cheap too lol sorry buddy
@@BikerVanLife Damn I had an offer of 200 lined up and I would have paid postage too! Cheers for reply anyway👍
maybe get a sofa bed the best of both worlds
Click bait titles will put people off mate. It's only a maintenance issue. Not as if you were an arson victim or something...
@@Critical_Stinking it just felt very disastrous for me these last few days 🙈
Fair enough man, I suppose everything is relative and subjective to the individual.
Hope it goes smoothly in the future 👍
If your car is your home any car problems are going to be far more stressful than normal.
I have no sympathy for you! Check your vehicle. No excuses. Its basic maintenance.

I wouldn’t waste time with the foam, just go for a proper mattress
