the absurddity is that a lot of people lied in court to put innocent people in prison, and now the people who lied have not been charged or put in prison.
What people were put through is nothing short of unbelievable, to think that genuine hardworking people who had never commented a crime in their life were quite literally put through the hell of a crown court trial knowing damn well that they'd done absolutely nothing wrong in itself bad enough but then to be somehow found guilty of stealing thousand of pounds and sent to prison is absolutely disgusting and the people who are ultimately responsible for what happened whether intentionally or not should I believe be given a taste of that same medicine and used as an example to make sure that this kind of injustice is never allowed to happen again. As far as I'm aware the victims are still waiting to see any componsation which is also completely unacceptable.
If a shed load of senior managers, investigators, etc do not spend years in prison for this, the largest miscarriage of justice in British legal history, then that will prove that justice is dead in this country.
An abysmal mess, all of it, and the facts/truth ignored for years. That Vennells is one nasty piece of work. Stripped of OBE, and an embarrassment to the church. The rest are no better, liars that just squirm on chair, and know they will suffer no consequences. And none of them whatsoever, eating a prison meal today, and should be 🤬
You could describe the same culture in the NHS! The NHS uses Non Disclosure Agreements too. Imagine this heartless cover-up culture being transferred to the NHS! Paula Vennells was the chair of the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust from 2019 to 2021. She resigned from the role in April 2021. And an ordained Anglican priest until 2021- how does did she manage to get a job in the NHS with her record? How did she find time to do several jobs simultaneously? These questions need to be answered. How can she live with herself after her past record in the Post Office was revealed.
Indeed, how invested can one be in one role and the issues involved when they keep being offered and accepting all these additional ones? Not to say people can't hold two or more positions at the same time and fulfil them diligently rather than superficially, but a trade-off with effectiveness must exist somewhere.
And on the closing of that mans speech sums up exactly what the Post Office thought of ruining peoples lives ,,,,,, nothing !!! Not even a word of apology ,,, they sat in court pretending they knew nothing whilst they knew everything and that nasty little scouse bully coming across as an uncaring nasty little bully , jail them
Surely there should be action taken to punish the guilty ones - the management that blamed and punished the postmasters. It's as clear as daylight that action should be taken against the guilty parties.....
He summed it up quite well and didn't elaborate on any criminality, or the clawback of all salaries from the moment a wrong doing happened with monies returned to the taxpayers and for the affected Postmasters.Only following orders doesn't fit here. We are all expected to know right from wrong, their wrongs makes them complicit.
The intentional destruction of the public service which used to be our royal mail, the splitting of the post office and delivery sides and privatisation has been a disaster. Now instead of a decent job for British people with the money all going in circles in the community and society, now we've got foreign (state owned) comanies delivering our parcels for a profit and sicking money out of the country. The culture described in this video is one of the results. Soooo efficient.
I have not seen any reporting about the independent auditors. The ones who look forensically at the paper trails and access to live systems. Are Fujitsu still liable?
They damn well should be. When they insisted that the system had no bugs or faults,I laughed because bugs are likely if not inevitable during the development of such a large, complex software project. How swiftly and thoroughly any bugs are identified and rectified, ideally no later than final testing let alone release or going live,is vital. I'm pretty sure just about anyone at Microsoft could have told them that.
It's good to hear this summary . But is this it .... the end of the line ? Or is there some attempt at compensation for the postmasters and punishment for the wrongdoers . Are the wrongdoers too posh and respectable to be punished ? And what about VIP Lane people who fleeced taxpayers of millions ? Are they too posh to be investigated too ? There doesn't seem to be too much happening there either .
The Royal Mail is England! You’ll will never understand bureaucracies until you understand that for bureaucrats procedure is everything and outcomes are nothing.
...and no one within the legal system picked up on obvious fact that hundreds of postal staff were being accused nationwide of theft and imprisoned. A equal, pathetic failure.
This enquiry is likely making lawyers very rich indeed. I trust at the end of it, those responsible will be jailed for a long time, and the victims will be appropriately compensated NOT by the taxpayer, but by the Post Office and Fujitsu. And the very first people who need jail time are the call handlers, who could have stopped this before it started if they'd had any moral compass at all. They knew they were doing wrong telling people they were the 'only ones' this was happening to.
An example of the arrogant metro elite that (mis)govern our country and institutions, craft laws to subdue and silence free speech - and even thought - and treat the citizens of our country with utter derision and contempt.
Vennells :A truly disgraceful woman. She may have been bored by all the sub-postmaster complaints during her tenure, but was devastated to be 'found out', after all her lies.
Ignorance cannot be a defence, A whisper of a problem would have alerted the ordinary person in the street This only happens when you don't want to believe the truth.
Paula Vennells closing statement was utterly useless. It quoted emails in her defence yet failed to quote reference numbers of recorded evidence. She gave a final attempt to say ‘not me gov’. The word corruption has not been used but POL was corrupt as evidenced throughout the hearings. Bonuses paid for doing a job a ‘hit job’ on so called ‘subbies’.
This kind of misscarraige is not unusual in the god forsaken country. There will be no redress for the Postmasters nor any kind of substantial punishment for the perpetrators of the prosecutions.Instead most of the guilty already have there golden handshakes and will have had an invitation to sit on another board somewhere.

One postmaster took his own life and the Post Offices only concern was how could they come out of the situation looking good. Disgusting people
I believe that at least 4 people took their own lives over this.
Plus those at risk of not receiving due compensation in their lifetime.
The arrogance of the leadership that wanted total control & were deaf to any who questioned their authority.
Seems, to my mind, to find a strong echo in the attitude of successive recent governments to the people of Greet Britain.
Remember it was the Government who gave the Post Office the power to police, bring criminal charges and prosecute.
If a shed load of senior managers, investigators, etc do not spend years in prison for this, the largest miscarriage of justice in British legal history, then that will prove that justice is dead in this country.
