Belgium in Osaka 2007 and Beijing 2008, that was a team, unequalled in teamwork. Gevaert, European champion at that time, inspired her team that didn't have the sheer speed and power of the top teams to surpass themselves with personal bests and perfect relay execution. And did it pay off? It sure did: bronze in Osaka and Gold in Beijing (after Russia having been caught with their fingers in the honeypot).

RIGHT! Also, the 4x100 is simply the 4x100. The lanes are staggered to even out the distance, so, inside lanes only benefit folks for seeing the competition and trying harder...it's not like the inside lanes are shorter, or anything. USA won these fair & square for sure.

@@kevinlang7510 right! Sadly, Tori is the great American natural talent that could and should’ve been the best in the world, but she ran too tense. Her start and acceleration was great…her power was great, but, she hit a wall.and just stopped! That’s that same BS Talou does and is stopping her from giving it to the best also. Remember Tori ran her PB in the rounds of trials? Why? Because her ass finally relaxed! I’m so frustrated with the American athletes running so tense and not understanding they need to trust their technique. This is one thing I love about Sha’Carri…she comes from behind, takes her time, then FLIES pass everyone mid race, then slows down again before the line! The look on her face is like she’s just napping…Elaine closes her eyes and looks asleep while she’s running. People don’t get relaxation is THE key! Tori pissed me off in that she had all the talent in the world and didn’t win more.

VCB would have been a great match-up for Evelyn Ashford, although, Evelyn was much more dominant than VCB. Remember, VCB was an amazing runner, but, fell off a bit, then, came back better than EVER this year, so, don't let her times this year confuse us with consistency. Evelyn had a bit more of a successful career, and more consistently won. She was such a beautiful and humble runner...miss her.

as for the 4x100 relays, i believe it will be tight between the US and Ja..comes to baton changes to decide the winner..as for the men, as i said before, Ja's only competition will be the clock and butterfingers..barring an race injury, of course.

Well it seems like that's what everyone is saying, that's all I've been hearing over and over. Did you know most of the Jamaicans go to American universitiees and train in the US? Once Jamiaca wins at least one medal in an 800 or above, then we'll talk, once a Jamaican wins at least one medal in long jump, decathalon, pole vault, then you'll actually have an argument, but until that time US reigns supreme in Track & FIELD.

For Rio 2016 in the 4x100m relay final it's gonna be USA vs Jamaica as always and the USA team is kinda predictable with Tiana Bartolleta to Allyson Felix to English Gardner to Tori Bowi and I think the Jamaicans team should be like this Simone Facey to Shelly-ann Fraser-Pryce if she's at 100% by then to Elaine Thompson to Veronica Campbell-Brown and for the men's it would be Mike Rogers or Trevaugn Bromell to Justin Gatlin to Tyson Gay to Ryan Baily and for the Jamaicans there will be no Nesta Carter so they'll have to find another wonderful start like Julian Forte to Yohan Blake to Nickel Ashmede to Usain Bolt

You got the US womens squad 100 percent correct, and that was one of the greatest relays ever because it was out of lane one. One of two things kept them from breaking the record: either the fact that the US was in lane one, or the fact that English Gardner was running in shoes borrowed from Allyson Felix, shoes that were custom made for Felix and a half size too big, hahaha.

I disagree. I don't think Shelly-Ann can beat Felix on second. Felix is an AMAZING 100M runner, but, doesn't start well. With a running start, Felix will smoke the field, because she's got tremendous top end speed. Shelly Ann, on the other hand, has an explosive start, but, everyone passes her. Shelly Ann reminds me of Gail Devers...she explodes and gets a lead, and either wins by a thread, or, everyone will catch and pass her.

@bhodgerrr ..yeah, but Ja were the favourites, see !..now, if you listen to the commentaries, the US hasn't "lost a 4x100 relay in the Olympics" since they lost to the GBR, i believe, when Mo Green was the anchor. Technically, that's correct. Better to drop out than to concede defeat, at least that's how the USA looks at competing, i believe..

@leonard bolton Americans winning doesn't bother me in the slightest. I love watching Gatlin run, for example, loved watching Mo Greene. I'm just impressed by athleticism in general, no matter who it is.

Are you kidding me? We don't compare? The thing with Jamaica is they have Usain, Asafa, Veronica, Kerron, and Fraser, other than those people I just named no one on Jamaica can handle the US. Allyson Felix has defeated Campbell 3 times at worlds, Tyson Gay has defeated Bolt at worlds, Sanya has defeated Kerron, but so has Allyson. I can go on and on our team has the best people, we have Felix, Richards, Muna, Gay, Clement, Merritt, etc, etc. WE ARE THE BEST.

@chichibud31,the US would have simply beat Ja in beijing .Jamaica only has 100m runners and US has the best team.they were in a clear lead until torri messed up the baton, and i bet you their semi final time would have even been fastest than that of the winning time by the russian.let us just wait for 2011.

All of Jamaican's fast athletes trained at except, Veronica and Stewart.
Asafa, Sherone, Blake, Nester, Shelly, Bridget, Melanie, Sherifa, Sherica, Elaine, Morrison and Frater they all train in Jamaica this is why we started winning so many medals and creating history.
