    • @Lolkekexoxo
      @Lolkekexoxo Рік тому +2

      No, she has not become a critic. She is a youtuber with reaction content made to reaffirm whatever the fans ask. This is a problem with reaction videos. Most of their viewers believe that the person reacting to it is acting as a critic, but truth is it is much more just a hype person.
      That being said, she is really good at hyping music, so when you already like something, and watch her videos, you'll feel great to have someone showing these feelings.
      The music here tho, has too much elements, and became noisy and weird. Not good.

    Feuerschwanz is actually one of my favorite bands. The new album looks really good - it is worth to check them out, although one has to remember that it is a german band that mostly sings in german.

    Loved that reaction. Just a quick note: This is a genre, medieval rock. You get many of the medieval instruments paired with heavy guitars, bass and drums and great storytelling. German bands include Feuerschwanz and Saltatio Mortis (Alea's band), Subway to Sally, In Extremo, Schandmaul, Tanzwut and many more. It's not a larp niche here, it is engrained in our german and european history and those bands are quite popular. For example 4 Saltatio Mortis albums reached no.1 in the german charts. Also the music videos are usually a visual treat. You have reacted to a version of My Mother Told Me before, but Saltatio Mortis sing it in the original old norse and filmed the music video in a viking village. I can also recommend a live performance of Subway to Sally from 2020: Veitstanz (2014 Version) (Live) that features members of Saltatio Mortis, Schandmaul, Feuerschwanz and also Patty Gurdy and Major Voice. Also quite a few bagpipes, hurdy-gurdys, violins and more in there. This is a rabbit hole, you ain't seen nothing yet!

    • @NotMeButAnother
      @NotMeButAnother 2 роки тому

      Indeed, medieval rock (and metal) is a subgenre of folkrock particularly popular in Germany. Subway to Sally is generally said to have started the trend, although their style is somewhat different from the later bands like Schandmaul, Saltatio Mortis (who Alea is the singer of), Feuerschwanz (who started out as a parody band in the genre) or In Extremo. There's some lovely music to find here.

    I love Manowar. Immediately recognized it within the first seconds. Manowar were my favourite band for many years and I saw them live two or three times. I still like them today a lot, while I also broadened my range of bands and music.
    Anyway, I often feel a bit uneasy listening to a cover of favourite bands and songs, since too often I feel the cover is a "nice try" but can't get it right.
    But Feuerschwanz here do an awesome job with high respect to the original while introducing a little dash of their own style and instrumentalization. Just right to stand alone with highest reference to the original. I enjoy their mix of vocalists and their singing captures the spirit of the original well. And when covering a song sung by Eric Adams that means a lot! Kudos to them. I'll check out some more of their work now.

    Love the channel! Please!! Kind of a change of pace- the hard rock band Triumph has one of the most under-rated vocalists and guitarists of the late 70's, 80's, and 90's- Rik Emmett. Fight the good fight from the US festival is a great representation of his amazing talent. I think you'll really like it- very positive messages in their music. I was fortunate enough to open for Rik and his band. He saw my white Marshalls and my singer told him what an inspiration Rik's playing was for me growing up. Coming off stage after the set, Rik grabbed me and told me to leave my rig up on stage, he asked me if I knew Magic Power (the encore). Being stunned I responded with, "What version? The album, or the live '82 Baltimore one?" He said, "I don't even remember that. You'll be fine." It was amazing, we did a 10-minute round robin guitar solo Between Rik, Doug, and me. This also happened to be the first date that me and my girl had. 17 years later she's still here, so I might owe Rik for more than just a great musical experience....:)
    Just to be clear, the rest of the concert is worth watching! He went on to a great solo career releasing classical, jazz, and rock albums. ua-cam.com/video/q0Ei-tZTDr0/v-deo.html

The way she uses tempo and dynamics enhances the story of the poem. I get different emotios throughout the story. Just a hidden gem, in my opinion.

    Maybe a bit off general background info: Mittelalter-Rock (Medieval Rock) and Mittelalter Marktmusik (Medieval market music) is a quite big genre here in Germany. You have many bands, often coming from a background of playing accoustic on Medieval Markets (practically like a RenFaire), and then some mixing in Rock elements, Metal elements or even electronic elemets. You have Bands like Feuerschwanz in there, but also In Extremeo, Subway to Sally, Saltatio Mortis, Corvus Corax/Tanzwut, Faun, Schandmaul, Die Streuner, Letzte Instanz. Just to give you a few of the most important bands that circle the genre (Sorry for bands not mentioned, you are all awesome). Since you already did Hypa Hypa, you might wanna look into the version that Escimo Callboy did with Saltatio Mortis, Mixing Hypa Hypa with their Medieval rock sound.

      also, yes, the instrument is a Hurdy Gurdy. If you like this instrument you should look for Patty Gurdy (who has worked with Feuerschwanz before), she does awesome stuff (just have to mention a: Over the hills from Gary Moore - more prominently known as a cover by Nightwish - and her having done music for "Carnival Row"- the songs "I fly for you" and "Grieve no more" which are hauntingly beautiful)

    Hi Elizabeth, thx for the reaction. I'm looking forward to seeing you listen to some Manowar. Eric Adams had the special ability to sing gentle melodies as beautifully as he did master extremely powerful high pitched screams and all that within one and the same song. This ability along with very engaging lyrics made Manowar a really special band and him a captivating performer. You could say, they are the founders of power metal! Unfortunately on "Warriors of the world" his voice isn't at it's peak anymore and it doesn't display his abilities very well. Still the video is fun to watch.

It's an interesting chain for me: I found Saltatio Mortis because of Feuerschwanz, who I found because of Melissa Bonny; her from her Rage of Light stuff a few years ago, then the "Ding" cover Feuerschwanz did featured her. All because of either reaction videos or UA-cam Recommendations, or both.
    (Thomas/Angus I just knew independently from Gloryhammer.)

    I'm so glad you did this, I'd rather been thinking about mentioning some of the german-medival-rock/metal bands. I just didn't know what to recommend :D.
    I'm pretty sure you'd enjoy the energy in Kaufman & Maid, as it started out as a song ment to make 'fun of the medival music scene' but a few of them couldn't get the song out of their mind, so they made it a full song and the collabed to just make the song. It really shows how much fun they had.
    Saltatio Mortis (Alea's band) also made a real cool cover of 'My mother told me' - including some of the original old norse lyrics.
    I also like just about everything from Ben Metzners other band D'artagnan, they make medival rock with sort of a 'schlager' sound to it. I discovered them a few weeks before my grandmother got really sick, but think she'd really have liked to 'rock out' to their music with me. Anyway, I spotted him also playing his Bagpipes in the video. I'd probably suggest their Video for 'Chanson de Roland' or 'Meine Liebste, Jolie', If just because it's includes live footage. Chance de Roland also includes Hauptmann Feuerschwanz (Peter Henrici) and 'Meine Liebste, Jolie' would also introduce you to Patty Gurdy.

      Yes! She needs to hear Eric Adams!

      @@prodigaIProdigy From a vocal perspective I'd much rather she picked one of their more epic songs, like "Mountains", "The Secret of Steel", "Gates of Valhalla" or "Bridge of Death", where Eric really shows off his dynamics. Although I love the "hits" as well, these are more interesting songs, and honestly their best.

    Never heard of them. Love Manowar though, can't wait for the analysis.

    We did it boys and girls. She has connections to Napalm records now. Love it!
