Brilliant Derek so many memories of where I was brought up in the Bedford area of Leigh, and of Plank Lane and the pit where I once worked, the photo of the kids playing football on the Heath is for me one of the best pics taken in Leigh ever.

I once saw Georgie Fame & Bernard Manning in Leigh.
My Dad would sometimes work overtime on Saturdays at Plank Lane and Parsonage, probably in 50's. His regular place was Lime Pit, then Parkside.

Wonderful stuff Derek, great choice of music as well. I have to say, for all the advances of modern times, Ley looked much better way back when, even as I remember it mostly from the late 70's, early 80's.

Plank Lane the legend that was. They've built new houses and flats near't swing bridge and suddenly it's become 'Pennington Wharfe,' Suppose it sells better than 'Plonk Lone Wharfe.'
