  • This video shows my startup procedure for the ASIair and Celestron AVX. You can see how quick it is to start tracking and imaging using this system.

    Couple of questions:
    1. When you select Quick Align on the AVX Hand Controller - do you complete the Quick Align process on the Hand Controller after you've slewed to M104 on the ASIAIR or before you slew to M104 on the ASIAIR? Note: I'm assuming you don't do a proper Quick Align via the Hand Controller.
    2. What version of the AVX Mount and what version of the Hand Controller are you using? The procedure appears to be different for different versions.
    3. What version of the ASIAIR firmware are you running? What ASIAIR model are you ruining?

No you do not. You only try to slew after Quick Align is complete. Otherwise the mount will not move correctly as it needs Quick Align to get it's initial bearings.

Also, I'm not sure what you mean by "proper" Quick Align. Please let me know what that is.
As for the version, it's the latest version available. I bought the mount last November and all firmware is up to date - the latest version.
As for the ASIair, it's a Plus with the latest firmware. I've been using this method for since March 2024.

This video misses so many steps for your average user - especially a new user. No mention of when to connect cables, no mention that AVX must be set to proper date/time without Daylight Savings Time. No mention of how to use the AIR to do a polar alignment. I get that you're trying to help but I just think anyone who isn't already very experienced with this setup will struggle with this truncated version of how to actually use the AVX/AIR.

Thanks so much for the comment. To answer your questions and concerns...
When to connect cables? At the beginning before you turn anything on? The date/time is set from the tablet/mobile device (which I mention), and no need to do a polar alignment through the ARIair app - just do the alignment with a polar scope (which I mention). That is the point of the entire video!

@@TelescopeGreg I've got to agree with the original poster, you leave a LOT off on using ASIAir with an AVX. For a new person, it leaves me with more questions than answers. I do appreciate the effort and the attempt. Thanks

@@Noncenx Thanks much for the feedback! At the time I made the video it was assumed the user had the ASIair setup on the AVX. There are so many great videos about connecting the ASIair to the AVX I didn't see the need to do yet another one. However, what specifically is something you feel I left off? I'm not totally opposed to doing an additional video.
