This car is going to work just fine. The gearbox option will give you so much more scope than the leaf auto box. Its looking great and so much cleaner than factory.
I think your craftmenship and thoughts are very correct. Hints and tips in comments are there for triggering your mind in the right way, but you did think lots of things through. That was indeed a crazy week keeping you from your project, happy to see the sun shining we have too much rain here in the Netherlands.
Keeping the clutch makes this project unique and nods back to its origins. It might not be the “best” solution but that doesn’t in anyway mean it’s wrong, either!
The subframe looks really beautifull and I like this update style overview. Great progress and spring is coming from the south which means it is about to arrive in northern germany already. Solar power harvest has peaked today at about 70 kWh which is quite a lot for 30 kWp facing south but with a low 20° slope, not the usual 35° which would be best for solar power production here. Good luck with the next steps.
Clutch is a key element of the City Stromer and therefore I do understand your goals and that you at least want to try it. At the end clutches are an old system and it all depends on the way how you drive the car. I bet it will work cause remember what we have done with the Mark 2 golfs. No turbo of cause, not bigger rotors and brakes, not more power. We did nothing of that - or didn't we try it all ? And if that had work it will work with even a nissan leaf drive train or parts of it cause what's the difference ? I keep the fingers crossed that it will finally work out to save the car and idea for the future cause there are just a handfull still on the road, all others have been slaughtered already for parts cause lead acid battery tech had been outdated for decades and the cars have usually been neglected since they had been sold. Therefore only a few survivors in europe.
Jealous of your paint job, very nice. And of course I have to tell more things you are doing wrong: the VW logo is upside down! (yeah I guess you spotted that already) 😀
Nice Lupo 3L 💪💪 ... I have two friends with this car, we tuned their 3L's to 120hp, very fast in this light car. Now they have 450tkm on the odometer. The car is great. Can you show damage on the rear axle?

Thanks, so glad that you like it!☺️

Thanks! Yes the solar was great today, 43kWh, 11,25kwp so they are waking up now!☀️
I doubt that car looked as good when it was brand new :)
Btw, would be cool to do a short video about that military Volvo - seems interesting.
Thanks! Yes, maybe I should do that☺️
Electrogenic EV cars in the Uk use a flywheel and clutch on there ev conversion. So it must work
luv your work, keep it up, and you will never find a shortage of "expert" advice from the Internet, ha ha
Haha, that’s true. Tanks ☺️

😂😂👍🏻
We used to fix them in our grills like that in the 90’s it was a local thing.
The week part of the VW trans is the rivets in the diff, that's why I bought a bolt kit and had it installed to increase the chance of survival.
I have plans to go with the leaf gearbox. The clutch is slipping…
The badge isn't upside down, its just the new electric vw badge😀
Haha, yes😅

The best car I ever owned. 410tkm.
Owned it sense 2006. Maybe a video about that car in the future. Thanks for watching ☺️👍🏻
@@flyingtools Also over 400tkm 😃 .... we converted it to manual gearbox and run big water intercooler ...the engine is allday strong 😎
Ok👍🏻 mine is still original, I have not even changed the clutch yet 😅
VW märket sitter upp och ned!
😂😂
