    The team oriented play of the Jazz, Grizzlies, Heat, Raptors or Suns is really a delight to watch and also my prefered way of basketball. However when it really matters in the playoffs the last few years have shown that elite pnr players and isolations after switches are often the true offense of the very best teams. This video should have also shown how elite players like Lebron, Luka or Harden operate as their pnr savy, mismatch hunting and iso ball is also a major part of elite offenses today which punishes/eliminates immobile bigs and weak wing defenders and generally influences the roster construction in the league. While I also enjoy teams with secondary stars and therefore more european concepts, the truly elite players should have also been part of thr video even if it is not the most team oriented concept of playing basketball.

    On thing this video proves is that the mid range is not dead. It’s just used in a different way.
    No more jab stepping and 1 dribble drives out of the high post and more flowing motion with the midrange as a backup option if the rim is closed off

    • @futurehofer1564

      anyone that watches a tiny bit of basketball knows the midrange never died, what changed is that now role players dont take long twos anymore because those shots were awful, the team is way better off them taking 2 steps back and scoring a whole extra point, Mid range is for skilled stars and thats the best way for things to be

Be interesting to see how Evan Fournier and Kemba, along with a hopefully budding playmaker in RJ barrett and Randle can help execute these plays more effectively. Of course, it would be nice to have players who can set proper screens.

    Hi Coach, what's the proper definition of "pistol action"? I hear you mention it a lot, and seen it elsewhere too.
    But I've only heard it referred to as early action that involves a handoff. Is there a proper way to identify pistol action?

    • @SchaukelFrettchen
      @SchaukelFrettchen 2 роки тому +1

      Pistol is an action in early offense where 1. the Ball is passed to a wing player out of Transition 2. Point Guard follows his own pass towards the wing, creating a handoff-situation, or brushing off his defender to receive a pass while cutting to the basket 3. simultaneously the Ballside Post-Player comes up to the 3pt-Line a) thus creating open space near the Ballside-Post/Midrange area for the Point Guard to cut into b) or setting a Ballscreen towards the Middle for the Wing Player if the Ball couldnt be given back to the PG -> creating a PickNRoll Situation.

    • @bballbreakdown

    Coach why don’t teams use the Stockton-Malone baseline cross-screen to establish better post position for entry? Also, (post position) why don’t teams use their primary post player to set a baseline screen on the edge of the lane, then he merely turns around and has overwhelming position to score with an entry pass?
