Really really enjoy your content!!! This what i like out of UA-cam. People like you providing content that otherwise I’d have to pay a lot of money to get on tv. But now you can benefit by ad revenue and I can learn more about the game I love so much!!! Keep it up man! Got yourself a new subscriber! Keep making videos!
Thank you for this. Very good breakdown. I think I’ll try to have my team run this in the 2nd half so the other team has no time to react or defend a play that’s destroyed them every possession. No extended time to draw up a defensive scheme aside from a timeout and that’s limited time already. Easy points.
Don't apologize for the length, I thought the video was great and loved the depth that you were able to explore with the concept. I love all of your videos but think this was one of my favorites.
Coach, really nice video, I really like that you focus on just 1 play in the video, it makes the concept clearer especially for beginners, please do more of these kind of vids! (p.s maybe you can make this vid 6-7 mins )
I'd argue there are two bigger reasons why the play didn't work at 8:04: 1. Batum may not be the best option to come off the dribble hand-off. Batum has separation from his defender, but he doesn't turn the corner after the hand-off: his first couple of steps are angled substantially different (away from the basket) to Monk's in your first clip. 2. Monk was being guarded by Young. He seems easier to exploit, or at the very least isn't great at fighting through screens which gives Monk more separation.
You bring up some good points and I think the conclusion, is, each plays success is determined by a variety of factors. - For example Monk was able to turn the corner, aided by the fact he was being guarded by Young but also because of Bridges duck in helped ensure Young couldn't get tight to Monk right away. - I think Batum is still capable of turning the corner, but unlike in the clip with Monk driving, he was being guarded by a good on-ball defender in Glenn Robinson, and Batum noticeably has less separation to drive.
Coach Daniel Can you do a video on the warriors play without Steph curry and what they do on offense without him. Also, when doing the video could you talk about how Steve Kerr is using Kevin Durant. In my opinion I think he’s using him too much as a point guard even though he’s an average passer and it gives them no off ball threat besides Klay Thompson so the other 4 defenders can all focus on him. I also think they have too many stagnant plays where KD holds the ball in the post for too long. When watching him in OKC I thought he was best utilized coming off pindowns early in the offense because he isn’t super athletic so it’s hard for him to create space as the point guard but, when coming off screens which create separation for him, he’s so long that he can shoot over you easily, which forces his defender to close out hard but then he can still blow by you if you do close out hard. Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks and sorry for typing a lot.
Australian Ballscreen Motion Offense. 😀😀😀 Must have a TRAILING BIG. Dribble-entry to the wing (push wing player down to the corner or hand-off). Weakside Overload, dribble-at forces the wing player (45-degree angle) to backdoor cut with a Corner player lift, automatically.
It's called Zoom. The reason it's taking over is because of the prevalence of 5 man out basketball and the idea that all 5 positions on the court. You bring your bigs out to the top of the key then run off ball screens or screens away from the ball to free up a give and go that leads to lay ups/dunks, fouls, or kick outs to open 3s/mid range shots. If they deny the pass or play aggressive on the screen you run backdoor cuts. Also you continually back fill your screens. It creates a lot of gaps/spaces and mismatches.
Horns Flare (1 Elbow BIG setting a cross-screen or Flare Screen for the opposite Elbow BIG to pop outside the 3-point Arc) followed by a Dribble Hand-off is an excellent way to include your BIG as a passer.
Really appreciate your stuff man! Helps me a lot to better understand the game of basketball :) Would be amazing, if you'd put up something about OKC! After their bad start, now it seems like they are a really good team. Would also love to hear your thoughts about their new 6th man, D Schröder. Best whishes and greetings.
Whenever, as a defender, you're trailing your man with the ball who has any sort of lane...you're screwed. Pure and simple. With NBA defense reg's, you're glad just giving up 2 points.
Trey Young and No. 22 either have to switch on that action or No. 22 needs to pick Zeller on Zeller’s cut to the basket, then recover back to his man. That’d help both Alex Len and Tre Young.
How about call it “ZOOM”? It can also run the concept in the transition. The trailer bigs handle the ball and the forward set a corner down screen for the guard and continue the play. I saw Coach Stephon Marbury run this play for his team in the CBA team Beijing Royal Fighters.
the defender guarding the player who receives the handoff should try to stay between the offensive player and the basket. defensively trailing a player gives the offense the advantage.
This is why man on man D does not work. Best teams these days employ a zone-man to man type hybrid. Which could be hacked also with extra passes. But usually only thing open are the 3s. Must make the shot though for the payoff
Actually Luka had other options and de andre wasn't terribly wrong there as gobert & Co. Were in the paint and his back out 3 attempt wasn't terrible considering the CONTAIN . DE ANDRE HAD NO POTENTIAL SHOT OR SHORT ROLE AND HES NOT A POP THREAT . SO WHAT COULD HE DO THERE BETTER ? 1. WALK INTO GOBERT / BRUSH SCREEN , MAYBE . OR 2. GIVE LUKA A SPINNY POLE SCREEN TO KEEP THE TRAILING DEFENDER CHASING . SO HE DID THE LATTER. LUKA SHOT ON A BACK OUT ( NO IDEA WHAT CLOCK READ ) OK MAYBE SIDE DRIBBLE ELBOW OR KICK OUTS BETTER OR TIME PERMITTING A RESET . ROAM IF YOU WANT TO. EVERYBODY WANTS TO RULE THE WORLD. Sometimes there are better choices and sometimes there are Hobsons choices. Dit ditti dit dido blackout was actually luka masterful. On the deandre screen no roll.
bballbreakdown did a video on the dribble handoff or dribble pitch. He held up a book by the guy he claims invented it, Nat Holman. He said the book was written in 1932 or 1931.
Like the fact that you also provide tips how to defend the plays you show!
He didnt say that player who makes the run from corner, his defender should go under screen
instablaster...
1-2-2
the wizards run plays whatttttt
Just wait for Jordan Poole!
Never stop making these! You're the best YTer when it comes to basketball tactics and Xs and Os.
Nunya Biz checkout b-ball breakdown he’s great too
:(
Like that you dive deep on one concept instead of trying to flood us with many different things
Great breakdown! They sometimes call this "ZOOM" action
this is t zoom mate
Former San Antonio Spurs assistant coach, why am I not surprised. 😎😎😎
Great team ~ well coached!
damn, what?!
Fantastic breakdown on some of the complicated simplicity of the NBA.

I don’t even play basketball but your videos always interest me
Thanks! Do you watch NBA?
I like it because you really set and execute a play rather than settling on three points
My favourite basketball channel

Quality content mate! Didnt even notice it was 9 minutes, i like in depth analysis like that. Could have even maybe been longer for me.
This is such a great breakdown, Daniel.
My Favourite NBA Offensive Concepts UA-cam channels
this wasnt excessive at all, it was great!

@@coachdaniel8163 Yep, definitely multiple factors at play. Great video, per usual.

Dope Video! I love this type of analysis. Keep 'em coming!
Keep these videos coming. This was really good!
I've seen this called Chicago action because the Bulls with Rose used to run this sort of action a ton.
Also heard this as chicago action, hoiberg has been running this since iowa state.
@@justinlevy274 bulls were running it before Hoiberg was at Iowa State
In Australia this is known as "flow" or "loaded side". It's a very common play in Victoria.
Cuz in North America it's ran a lot in the US
Hold on hold on this man got Number 1 Stunna playing in the background 🔥🔥🔥

I’ve never played a day of organized basketball but I love the game. I hope this can help me
Isn't this just zoom action but slipping on the dribble handoff option?
Really appreciate your stuff man! Helps me a lot to better understand the game of basketball :)

Underrated part of this vid is the low-key “No. 1 Stunna” instrumental in the background
Great song
Thank you Coach. Great breakdown
I tried to get people to do this in pickup games but they just don’t get it.
Chicago action or "chop" ?
pure gold
Any players who have a nasty floater will love this play.
Thanks for that coach. Always good stuff.
That hornets variation with the weak side cut is sexy!
Agreed. Dubbing it either "Hornet" or "the nest" if I get the chance to coach some basketball (I love coaching xD)
I have seen many team do that for the past 10+ years, its a really nice and easy set. I believe it should be some combinations for hons
How does the play start, 4 out 1 in?
If I remember correctly, I believe Brad Stevens ran something like this for IT when he was on the Celtics.
Matt Piers im pretty sure he did but he had 2 players set screens
Whenever, as a defender, you're trailing your man with the ball who has any sort of lane...you're screwed. Pure and simple. With NBA defense reg's, you're glad just giving up 2 points.
Great video, coach! it seems a really effective concept!
This is awesome, subbed
It is kind of like pistol but with an extra screen.
You have to do a video about the raptors schemes right now they’re killing it
coach did dribble hand off is effective in a 2-3 zone
Great breakdown! Thank you!
Can this we integrate it with CORNER OFFENSE?
As the secondary option yes. You can start a corner offense on the strong side and have your big fade in the middle and initiate this play afterwards
That was great.
Thanks Coach! love the content
IU excellence on display in this video! (Anunoby, Zeller, Bryant)
Trey Young and No. 22 either have to switch on that action or No. 22 needs to pick Zeller on Zeller’s cut to the basket, then recover back to his man. That’d help both Alex Len and Tre Young.

Wonder what they call this play Daniel.
great content bro
Isn’t the first hornets footage just a flare screen into a dribble handoff?
Its called "fist delay", where the player gets a down screen before a handoff
Great Stuff!
Some coaches call this "quicking" the handoff. It means that you quickly slip the handoff.
Thanks for sharing
Great stuff
Can you tell the Grizzlies to run this often? Ja and Jaren could be perfect combo for this
the defender guarding the player who receives the handoff should try to stay between the offensive player and the basket. defensively trailing a player gives the offense the advantage.
Thanks for that analysis.
I felt like Dj could set a second screen for Luka's step back or and other options Luka could've done.
This must be there winning formula
This is patent warriors offense! I’m surprised I’m the only one who noticed this. They ran it a lot with bogut and curry
Zoom Action se llama la ofensiva y es muy efectiva
great content, subbed + liked
Can u do lakers inside d before and after chandler acquisition
You mean the fact they still don't box out and give up lots of defensive rebounds?
@@coachdaniel8163 ....lol that too
Gold nuggets, coach.
It is nice, I subscibed!
Nice breakdown
great content
learned something new!
value provided :D Thanks!
what a great‼️
Do a video on lonzo's defence!
Awesome awesome awesome
Well the Hornets have Parker now a former San Antonio Spurs champion, so of cause his gonna bring his experience on the spurs offence to the Hornets

zoom action baby!
New sub!👍🏻
Dope!
Spain Screen ?
Yeah, who'd have thought a double screen is effective?
You should analyse the bucks
I did, my prior video was on the Bucks offense

Kinda' looks similar to rockets' pistol action?
Most common name I’ve seen for it is Zoom Action
Is there a way I can super like a video?
#1 stunna
We play this and we call it shallow
Isnt this just pistol action??
yee out of the 21 series pin down into hand off lol pistol action
That DeAndre Jordan clip showcases the difference between low IQ and high IQ basketball players.
Harlem Globe Trotters ran this hand off in a figure 8 rotation. I think it's a very old play
bballbreakdown did a video on the dribble handoff or dribble pitch. He held up a book by the guy he claims invented it, Nat Holman. He said the book was written in 1932 or 1931.
Triple switch.
