I highly recommend you listen to the Assassin's Creed Rogue Version of Ezio's Family, it's the only alternate version that is almost as good as the original you just listened to. My guess as for why the OG video had 26 million views is because AC2 is considered by a lot as the best Assassin's Creed, or at the least Ezio is considered the best protagonist.
@@KCAssassin98 Agreed, Brotherhood was essentially Assassin's Creed 2.5, but that wasn't really a bad thing for me. Revelations was.... each Assassin's Creed takes place in a different time and location so AC2 is in Italy during the Renaissance. Ezio is the protagonist and this is his theme. It became so popular that the melody is basically the theme for the whole series now. (Jesper Kyd is actually the composer)
I especially love the little callback the start of Brotherhood had with this song playing. Another song that hits hard after playing through all of Ezio’s games and especially AC1 is AC Revelations main theme.
I really like when you starting talking about how this is a song that would stick with you. Assassin's Creed 2 is my favorite video game of all time and I played it all the way back in 2009 when it came out. I played it so much and had a lot of fun with the gameplay but never really knew how much the story and characters and the world meant to me. As I've gone back to it over the years I've realized more and more how special this game is to me. Ezio's Family is so easily recognizable in my head and I even teared up a little watching this, even though I've heard the song hundreds of times. To me this song represents what Assassin's Creed is (and should still be IMO) its a story that's an adventure and there's a lot of cool action and excitement, but the underlying tragedy and struggle of the main characters is always at the center of everything. The newer games have unfortunately lost this IMO, but I can always go back to the best games like 2 and remember how special it was and still is to me. That's the power of this song for me and it definitely does stick with me and I think it always will.
@@JessesAuditorium The first game did take place in the Middle East though, so you were kind of right. Each game for the most part is in a different setting/time period.
Brings me back to a time before Ubisoft threw this series into their meat grinder never to be seen in this form again. The original story with the future had so much potential but they couldn't find a way to monetize a good story so they had to kill it.
I guess you were expecting something middle-easternish because you were in the mindset of the first game settings while the games has different eras (Cleopatra's Egypt, New Orleans, Ancient Greece, High Seas) for different games. AC2 is set in Renaissance Italy and the theme is attached to an emotional scene of Ezio and his brother (hence Ezio's Family). You should also listen to the Revelation theme which stars Ezio in Turkey, and Odyssey (Legend Of The Eagle Bearer) which is set in Ancient Greece.
The thing I love with what they've done with Ezio's Family is that they reuse it as the theme for every game but change it in style and what instruments are used and it feels like new every time and I always look forward to how they change it every time
Just hearing the initial strings from the acoustic guitar brings back a wave of nostalgia as I remember playing this game-changer for the first time, back in the day. 'Ezio's Family' has become so iconic to the franchise that, 13 years after AC II was released, it is still used in the trailer for the next game in the franchise (Mirage, to be released in 2023).
Ezio Auditore da Firenze was the protagonist for three consecutive games: Assassins Creed II, Assassins Creed: Brotherhood, and Assassins Creed: Revelations. These were the only three AC games i ever played because I felt like nothing else in the franchise could top that journey. This soundtrack shows that video games can be so much more than just entertainment. Video games can be art that touches your very soul.
Love this theme and the franchise as a whole. But the original escape theme from the first game, when the enemy rings that alarm bell will AWLAYS be the best. I miss Altair.
This is so iconic because it started just as Ezio's Family in the meaning of his literal family that he lost, but after multiple other versions in other games from Assassin's Creed franchise it's now Ezio's family in the meaning of all assassins - protagonists of these games, assassins, are his new family and are continuing his work in their own way
Jesper Kyd (pronounced Yesper Kid iirc) is the composer. His music in the first few games honestly kind of made the experience magical. The games starring Ezio mostly take place in Italy during the Renaissance. I only played up to AC3 but I remember they replaced Kyd with one of Hans Zimmer's flunkies (Lorne Balfe, I think?) and the music turned a little more typical Hollywood which imo really made the music lose a lot of its charm...

The emotions in this soundtrack is too good, man. Makes you recall Ezio's whole life, and relive exactly how you felt during all the major plot points.
The way the vocals are sang takes you straight into Italy in the 1400’s. the melancholic melody is just a perfect loop for the story line of Ezio. The gameplay, the old Italian architecture and this music makes it a perfect experience to take the player into this dramatic storyline of renaissance

Although not in the same tone, I can recommend AC4 Black Flag theme. Just like most of the critically acclaimed games out there, most of the AC music is great as well; sometimes they can compete with biggest OST hits out there. And Ezio's Theme is in 100% Assassin's Creed fashion. Such a nice theme.
Probably one of the most nostalgic songs imo for everyone who played ac2 even more so than Venice rooftops which is the music that plays during the opening ezio is racing his brother just beautiful also might add i love how into the music you get it makes me happy to see you loving the music I grew up listening the music that made my childhood
This theme is the main theme of this title, but it is used in all the most honorable or memorable moments in all Assassin's Creed titles. it's just amazing that it makes you shed tears of emotion.
Most of the AC games are set in multiple different time periods and settings with an overarching modern day story tying them all together. My mind is a little foggy but from what I remember: AC1 - Middle East during the crusades Ezio trilogy (AC2, Brotherhood, Revelations) - renaissance Italy/Turkey AC3, AC Liberation, AC Rogue - colonial America AC4 Black Flag - pirates! AC Unity - revolutionary France AC Syndicate - victorian London AC Origins - ancient Egypt AC Odyssey - ancient Greece AC Valhalla - Vikings invading England There were also a couple of small side games set in India, China, and Russia collectively called Chronicles I think. They would often include well known people of the time directly associating with the main character. So Ezio was friends with Da Vinci, AC3 had Washington and Benjamin Franklin, AC4 had Blackbeard, Syndicate had Darwin and DLC involving Jack the Ripper. That kind of thing. The motif in Ezio's Family was so loved that it's become more or less the theme of the entire franchise. I'm pretty sure all the games have variations on the leitmotif in them, usually on the title menu.
When I was a young man, I had liberty, but I did not see it. I had time, but I did not know it. And I had love, but I did not feel it. Many decades would pass before I understood the meaning of all three. And now, the twilight of my life, this understanding has passed into contentment. Love, liberty, and time: once so disposable, are the fuels that drive me forward. And love, most especially, mio caro. For you, our children, our brothers and sisters. And for the vast and wonderful world that gave us life, and keeps us guessing. Endless affection, mia Sofia. Forever yours, Ezio Auditore.
Im not sure if you'd be open to listen to variations of this same theme from different entries of the series, but all of them are amazing. Ezio's Family is such an amazing theme
this is composed by Jasper Kyd, the same composer who made soundtrack for the Hitman games. you should check out Hitman 2: Silent Assassin (2002) - Exploration. you might also be surprised about that one. Great reaction!
Assassin's Creed II and Brotherhood are set in Italy. Florence, Venice, and Rome in particular. During and immediately after the Italian Renaissance. Jesper Kyd is the composer and the protagonist of the game is Ezio Auditore da Firenze.
I recommend to only play the Ezio Trilogy if you're thinking about playing Assassin's Creed. If you wanna you can also play 1,3,4 and Unity since they're pretty decent as well (especially 4), but I'd leave away the rest since they're really bad. Edit: But definitly check out the soundtracks of every game since, despite the games dropping immensely in quality after Unity, the soundtracks are always nop notch.
“When I was a young man, I had liberty, but I did not see it. I had time, but I did not know it. And I had love, but I did not feel it. Many decades would pass before I understood the meaning of all three. And now, the twilight of my life, this understanding has passed into contentment. And for the vast and wonderful world that gave us life, and keeps us guessing. Endless affection, mia Sofia. Forever yours, Ezio Auditore.” ― Ezio Auditore da Firenze
Much like Assassin's Creed 2 (and the subsequent games in the Ezio-Trilogy) and its protagonist, Ezio Auditore da Firenze became some of the defining cornerstones of the franchise as a whole (even though it has changed considerably by now compared to the early games), this theme, which started out as merely Ezio's theme, became pretty much the defining piece of music of the entire franchise and eventually became its main theme, present in every game, even though every new game has its own version of it, usually remade in the style of the music of the era/location each game is set in.
The original Assassin's Creed is a genre defining game. When they announced AC2 it was questionable if they could top the first game. Not only did they top it, AC2 is still the quintessential AC game. It is fast paced and a romp through the Renaissance. The theme is beautiful but melancholy because Ezio's story is quite sad overall.
Renaissance Italy. Ezio Auditore da Firenze, a carefree young man from a wealthy family watches his father and son be executed, discovers his father's role in an ancient secret brotherhood of assassins who effectively battle fascism and tyrants throughout history around the world. He goes on a quest of vengeance to exterminate the Templar order who manipulate the world, and who had his brother and father hanged. In his quest for vengeance, he's taken in by his uncle, another assassin, who inducts him into the order, and opens up Ezio's world to the larger war with the Templar, and the struggle for the fate of mankind. In short, it's the story of Renaissance Batman, set in an EXTREMELY beautiful world - Renaissance Italy. A world of art, and architecture, and beauty, and countrysides, and vineyards, and villas. It's a game series about....living through and making history. Climbing all over ancient monuments and crypts and castles and fortresses and palaces, and sneaking through gardens, and running across rooftops in the most beautiful cities on Earth, hunting down your targets, and eliminating them. Meeting and befriending historical icons....and killing some of them. Jesper Kyd is the composer. He's a genius. The whole soundtrack isn't EXACTLY like this, but it's in tune with this.
That's the thing, the first few assassin's creed games were path breaking, very sophisticated way of designing the environment, unlike the very objective and dumb down way of designing action games that was going on. It treated the audience as a tasteful group of connoisseurs of history and storytelling but through the medium of a videogame.
This song always take me back. AC II(trilogy) was amazing. Sadly it went downhill from there. Its combination of classical music and modern instruments(electric guitar) isnt just coincidence, it has meaning related to story that also combine (pseudo)history and modern day events.
What makes this one of the best scores ever composed, is going through the journey with Ezio. hearing it on it's own is epic, but playing Ezio's story adds so much more emotion and depth to the score. This is why i am more in love with Film n Game scores than most music. Sheer Perfection this one by Jesper Kyd
Back when AC really knew what it was. This song stirs up some amazing memories of playing as a young Ezio, we watch him grow and mature into a grandmaster...such an amazing trilogy of games. AC1 was good....the Ezio trilogy was stellar! Venice Rooftops is also a brilliant song from the game.

It's extremely pretty I just wish there was a bit more to the melody. Gets a bit samey after minutes.
I waited for this for a while, amazing
I love how this more or less became like the main theme for all the AC games.
it matches more the aesthetic of where the game takes place in italy
The female vocals are incredible
This theme is the main theme of this title, but it is used in all the most honorable or memorable moments in all Assassin's Creed titles. it's just amazing that it makes you shed tears of emotion.
Most of the AC games are set in multiple different time periods and settings with an overarching modern day story tying them all together.
My mind is a little foggy but from what I remember:
AC1 - Middle East during the crusades
Ezio trilogy (AC2, Brotherhood, Revelations) - renaissance Italy/Turkey
AC3, AC Liberation, AC Rogue - colonial America
AC4 Black Flag - pirates!
AC Unity - revolutionary France
AC Syndicate - victorian London
AC Origins - ancient Egypt
AC Odyssey - ancient Greece
AC Valhalla - Vikings invading England
There were also a couple of small side games set in India, China, and Russia collectively called Chronicles I think.
Welp, you've opened this can of worms now. Prepare to get requests for more Assassin's Creed songs :D
Jesper Kyd is a danish composer 🎼
Benjamin nailed it on the request
Great choice, subscribed instantly !
I really love the Valhalla main theme by Sarah schachner and Jesper kyd.
Forever yours,
Ezio Auditore.
I am always crying when I hear this theme its so legend I miss the old Times 😪
Ahh. The sound of what AC use to be...man I miss the AC of old
I wish I could go back and listen to the whole AC2 soundtrack for the first time again
Ezio's triolgy was absolutely iconic
I can never forget the feel of AC2
Im not sure if you'd be open to listen to variations of this same theme from different entries of the series, but all of them are amazing. Ezio's Family is such an amazing theme
god im in tears
The Odyssey theme is *chef's kiss. Flight of the Eagle Bearer
This song pulls feelings from me I didn't know existed or could exist in my cold dead heart.
please listen to all the other theme songs of the assassin's creed games, all are absolutely amazing dude
Agreed. Every single game had incredible soundtrack.
this is composed by Jasper Kyd, the same composer who made soundtrack for the Hitman games. you should check out Hitman 2: Silent Assassin (2002) - Exploration. you might also be surprised about that one. Great reaction!
Aahh. The iconic
Am I weak for crying every. single. time. I hear this?
If so... I don't care call me weak.
Should Jesse listen to the other Variations of Ezios Family?

― Ezio Auditore da Firenze
Hearing this music again gives me so much of a nostalgia boost
You should really try AC2 if you're interested. It's suchaa great entry into the series and will answer a lot of the questions you're having now
That's the thing, the first few assassin's creed games were path breaking, very sophisticated way of designing the environment, unlike the very objective and dumb down way of designing action games that was going on.
Aaaaah Jesper Kydd... He really did service to the AC franchise... Those piece of 1 and 2 are incredible.
Assassin's Creed games always have the best soundtracks.
that was ubisoft art work. a true masterpiece. before they become Ubi$oft.
This is such an iconic piece 🙏
the fact your name is jesse auditorium as u listen to ezio auditore's theme is perfection
It hits differently when you play the game, when you lost yourself in his story.
please react to Fallout theme, preferably the Fallout 4 version
The Ezio era of assassin’s creed were some of the best games in the series.
Saw your reaction at 2:24 That drop gets me also. Chills
Should react to the Assassin's Creed Revelations theme, I think it's the best in the franchise!
“It’s just a videogame”
The videogame!!
