    Great lessons, Dave. Supertramp is more like a piano band, and sometimes it is difficult to figure out a song on guitar. But you did a very good job on this one. Thanks.

    Excellent fun stuff this song always makes me think about that period , the lyrics are very relative to our current era , the capo makes alot of sense for the cords perfect interpretation for guitar

    Dude, this is huge what you're doing! Congratulations for these very clear explanations, with the rhythm, I learn super fast with you. Hodgson from Supertramp is a wizard who has bewitched the guitar chords. These songs inhabit the chords. Thanks to you I'm having fun on my guitar.

    Spot on. You nailed it. I was sitting here pulling my hair out (literally one left on the 51 y.o.) watching these other videos and nobody was getting it right but you killed it. Thanks. Capo at the first works best indeed because it also sets up that intro slide perfectly.

    Hello , the chord you say that is a E9/D (no root), is a Ab-7b5/D ,,,a half-diminished with the 5dim in the bass

    • @DavesGuitarChannel
      @DavesGuitarChannel  5 років тому

      You could call it a D6b5

    • @CarlosCampos-ce3gp
      @CarlosCampos-ce3gp 5 років тому +2

      Ab-7b5 is more logical to me, because is a modal chord extracted from the Lidyan mode ( I´m talking of Modal Interchange)( D lydian has this chord in the #IV degree , by the name of G#-7b5)...then goes to G; something that is common in some jazz progressions,,,On the other hand, this is an interesting song. The harmonic progression is not common to pop or rock style. I've known her since she came out and I've never set out to learn her until today. Thanks to your answer.

    • @DavesGuitarChannel
      @DavesGuitarChannel  5 років тому

      @@CarlosCampos-ce3gp I was about to make another point and I realized I was going to reference a song that uses the same chord. The song is Just The Way you are by Billy Joel and the chord is a Bm6. This is probably the best name for the chord Bm6/D. In both songs they use the descending A G# G in the chords.

    • @CarlosCampos-ce3gp
      @CarlosCampos-ce3gp 5 років тому +1

      ah, great ,,, is possible...in Joel´s song, the function is IV-6, and in this song would be VI-6, (B-6) ... it's easier to understand it that way.....the problem with this chord is that has 3 names: D6(b5), B-6 and Ab-7b5 (you know),,,the thing is to found the more simple function,,,we could ask Roger directly, haha,,,Saludos from Argentina

    • @azzuro195
      @azzuro195 4 роки тому +1

      My preference is E9/D(no root). It fits wit logic of song. Of course Its important how it sounds not how we call it.

    Vraiment Parfait

    • @patrickr979
      @patrickr979 3 місяці тому +1

      Le problème c'est que la tonalité est Véritablement inchantable vocalement,et ce qui serait cool c,est de le jouer avec un capo en case 2, Mais....deux tons plus bas . Ce qui permettrai a des latins qui ont des tessitures plus grave d,avoir le choix de pouvoir le chanter plus bas. Je suis personnellement baryton Martin en tessitures et je voudrais bien le transposer en termes de guitare,mais...je n,ai pas votre talent guitaristique ni théoriques pour trouver les accords. Pour vous qui avez le niveau cela serait facile. Salutations musicales de France.

    • @DavesGuitarChannel
      @DavesGuitarChannel  3 місяці тому +1

      @patrickr979 Transposing, it will make it lose some of its signature sound.But I was trying to keep in my lesson. You may want to look into a baritone guitar., That way you can cape with whatever you want and play it with the proper voicings.
