Looking forward to today's stream! Find that Legacy!
Edit: Supra Et Ultra, apparently. Results have changed in the last 12 hours lol
I like the Stroud Ecklund Trebuchet. It is large enough to configure 3 2x1 modules of your choosing. Upgrading it with UC Vanguard weapons and shield takes you far into the end game. A bit expensive, but not as expensive as others you can purchase.
Looks like a good ship. I originally purchased ships until I got comfortable stealing them. I still don't hijack a lot in space, but when they are available I'll take them.
In this playthrough, I end up doing the minimum upgrades just to survive the main quest. In my other videos (NG+) I do a lot more customization and spend the money on further upgrades.
In this playlist there are a couple of videos on my process for stealing enemy ships. All of them have civilian versions (for sale), but I'm saving a few credits. Search for "Hunting" and "Unlimited" in the title.

@@kineer With the Wright you stole you had to go through 20 save scums, I don't have that much patience. I find stealing ships a slow way to earn income as I prefer to scan gas planets while I jump around from system to system to advance research. As you noted, upgrading the Frontier consumes too many credits. Even with a A class Trebuchet you get one of the better A class ships which can be upgraded as the game progresses. Not too large and not too small. I choose 2 all in one births, and 1 empty control station I fill with all of the workbenches. I am able to transport people, have more crew, and work on everything...
I rarely steal ships for the purpose of selling them, although I do end up selling some to clear landing sites. My original purpose for stealing ships (in my NG+ walkthrough series) was just to get a Claymore III I could rig for the Masada fight (and Crimson Fleet). When the shield bug was happening often, I would keep grabbing more Claymore III's and throw away the bugged ones.
The Hyenas and Wights were just nice Class C's that happened along so I did some videos on how to re-arrange their interiors so they were more useful (to me).
Not exactly sure why, but money's never really been a terrible constraint but I do spend for very specific things. I'm always playing a low-key economic angle while progressing.
And for the record, the number of ships I've stolen/save scummed in testing various methods is a little crazy. Same with weapons, armor, etc. Part of me enjoys teasing out the percentages to see how BGS loaded the drop rates. I have a video coming out on Wednesday where I did it again. Keep your eyes open for that one.
I spent HOURS testing something so I could share it here. :)
Peace and particle beams!
Vlad pays double for survey data, which is nice. Unfortunately he won't buy data if you're not running the whole main quest. Scanning gas giants is still a quick way to get starting money in NG+ though.
