      @@JollyRogerAviation very true! I fly over every year, there’s no “official” NOTAM or traffic pattern but the generally accepted practice is counterclockwise N/W/S/E using the outer edges of the fields. I’m in a 172 and have sometimes been overrun by faster aircraft, it’s ok for slower to be lower (1K) and faster above (below 1300) and wider. I use BVS’s frequency for intentions (like field turn advisories) and to deconflict with other traffic. Kinda reminds me of an average summer day in the AWO pattern!! Really enjoy your videos, great job, hope to see you out there this summer 👍👍

    Enjoy your videos, and listen to your talk about 28 years in the Jets and now in your Lance air, at 160 on shorter field runways. As I only flew small GA planes and some rides in the Right seat of a Twin back in the 1970s in Cessna 150 172's all the Glass panels and Fiber materials in planes is new. I did most of my Flying in So Fla at Garden Aviation as J.D Mc Carther personal strip that was 8 ft wide and 3000 Feet long Gave me the skill to feel comfortable landing on most any small airport as PBIA was over 8000 feet which seems forever in a Cessna or piper Archer to land or take off.🙂 Can only wish for a fast Lance Air at 78 yr old

    Nice. The Lancair must be the precursor for all the light sport aircraft that look like it.
    Isn't it technically required that you stay above 500feet AGL unless landing? maybe don't make it too obvious :)

      Thanks Sam. I machined a small part on my lathe that bolts up into the tail tie-down slot which I then clamp my GoPro onto. I’ll try to remember to show it in the next video. Does the 360 have a recessed threaded hole for a tie down eyebolt?

    Was there anything special in the pattern for you to make a tight turn into final at what seemed to be like a pretty low approach on final? Very nicely done!

    • @JollyRogerAviation
      @JollyRogerAviation  Рік тому +2

      You can’t really get the Navy out of me lol. I’ve never flown box patterns, it’s always been a constant 30* AOB, descending turn from the abeam all the way to final for me. I’m still kinda getting a feel for the descent rates of this plane and have had to drag it in a bit with power….trying to get the feel for a tighter pattern so I don’t have to do that.

      @@Kirk_Wood the $100 hamburger is an aviation term many use. It’s based on how expensive it costs to operate an airplane. When you do even a short trip like the 12 minute flight in the video….the fuel, hangar, insurance, annual inspection turns that $12 plate of French fries into $100 plate based on how much it cost to get there. It’s not clickbait if it’s true 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Cheers brother
