Great painting and presentation, Liron. I was particularly appreciative of your dialog when you were laying out and drawing the sketch. So much good stuff that doesn't get discussed when people talk about learning to draw.

More and more I'm sensitive to what hobbyist drawing text teach and what I do when I draw every day. Much of it has to do with the thought processes, not "hand-eye coordination" which seems to be the buzz phrase everyone uses to avoid talking about this stuff. Showing people WHY you moved the table line, HOW you achieved symmetry in your ellipse and the bowl itself, and WHY you chose to start with the cherry you did are just some of the things that we do all the time and yet are never discussed in books.

Your the best watercolor site on UA-cam. Your style is my style. I like to paint, loose but with some details and connecting the shadows and back, mid, foreground so it reads beautifully.
    Keep posting your excellent!

Learning to paint colorful shadows is what I have been struggling with. I like the subject matter in this piece. It’s simple but interesting enough to equate to the type of painting that I would pursue. I also appreciate the discussion of restraint in overworking this piece. The rabbit hole that I seem the go down is to get caught up in too much detail. Thank you. I find your instruction most valuable.

Painting more colorful, funny enough, can be a big challenge (many have the opposite case, where they paint too colorful and saturated).
I also had troubles with this, until I "forced" myself to paint with pure individual paints (almost no mixing) and only focus and value. It seemed to work (:

I painted this for my sister's birthday, as may is the month of cherries. I'm really happy with the result, I followed your step and even if it was really messy at some point this came out with that "something" that make the painting a great piece of art. Thanks a lot and keep on going!

Loving your tutorials, you are my favourite water colourist for demos. I like that you try things even when you’re not sure how it will work out, always does though. Getting a lot from seeing how dark you sometimes go when I would be timid and much lighter. You are giving me the courage to try and be looser and bolder when painting.

Aww, Liron, this is just what I needed now. I've been working on a painting and I can't get the balance between having sufficient details and also leaving it still looking like a watercolor. I've overworked it and it doesn't have that nice fresh look. This lesson was very helpful as I watched you achieve recognizable objects with just a few simple strokes. Thanks so much.

Excellent demo Liron! I found it really helpful. I like the way you left some paper on the wall. I also liked seeing how you lifted on the bowl. I learned the "bravery" on the darks and your awareness of color shift. Very impressed with your confidence level negative painting where I would have had to use frisket. .. and... You say "but that's fine" often where I would have said "ugh, I ruined it" and lost confidence to keep going. Thank you.

In particular I appreciated the adjustments that you made to the basic composition. This is a common struggle, rarely addressed, and therefore difficult to pick up. I’d love to see more about how to tweak an image for WC purposes. The second thing that jumped out for me was the way you talked yourself through “merging shapes”. All the time, we hear it, man, you got to be merging shapes. Blah blah. Thank you so much for saying “now I’m gonna merge some shapes” and then, you know, doing it. More on this topic might elevate your content too. I thought this vid was great. Thanks for sharing.

I was into every word and paint stroke. I would have liked to see the cherry closest to the bowl reflect its color into the bowl. I really enjoyed and learned a lot . thank you.

Thank you. Just starting watercolor. Your step by step is very helpful. If you could add more detail about names of color used, that would be appreciated. Thanks for taking the time in your life to teach.

Liron, have you ever done a palette set up video? I would love to know your color selection.

I did one for my Schmincke paints: ua-cam.com/video/LNkR9VlFqE8/v-deo.html
But there isn’t necessarily a lot of thought on what paints etc. was simply using what they sent (:

I enjoyed seeing your whole painting and decision making process. My only suggestion is to show the finished painting without the tape at the end. Thanks!
