Five years after the explosion on Alderman Richard Hughes' yacht, the player, who fell into a coma, awakens in Stilwater's maximum security prison after undergoing extensive plastic surgery. Carlos Mendoza, the brother of a former Saint, infiltrates the infirmary and helps the player escape. Carlos then informs the player about the demise of the 3rd Street Saints; Julius went missing, Troy Bradshaw became the Chief of Police, and the remaining Saints members were either killed or jailed. Arriving at a bar, the player discovers that Johnny Gat has been sentenced to death for 387 murders, and breaks into the courtroom to rescue him. The two then begin to revive the Saints, using the old church now turned tourist trap as their new headquarters and soon recruiting high-ranking lieutenants in Carlos, Pierce Washington and Shaundi. ..

HEY YOU FORGOT THE ACTUAL ENDING!!! After clearing the last mission go to the police station (don’t worry they won’t jump you unless you shoot at them) and find the records room with three wire taps. After listening you get a call from dex himself to do the mission and get the secret ending.
I remember being a kid and wanting gta 4 for my ps3, but being raised by a single mother we were basically broke so my mother got this game for us instead, as it was on sale. Little did she know this would be one of the best games I’ve ever played to date. Thanks mom

It was more like a severely toned down Saints Row from what we know and love in terms of humor and the technical issues didn’t help. With a few more months in the development oven, it wouldn’t have been half bad.
As for the ‘The Third’ remaster, have you watched Digital Foundry’s technical analysis video? They analysed the game from every nook and cranny and concluded that it was one of the better remasters of modern time. To quote Digital Foundry, ‘one of the best remasters we have seen’..

I remember reading a rumor online years ago, before the third game was officially announced, that Carlos' brother was going to be in it and he was supposed to replace Carlos, I think, and he felt the Saints were responsible for Calors' death.
I mean, they did have the voice actor for carlos, and somewhat of an arc for him in “enter the domiatrix” dlc for saints 4. Carlos is alive, technically.
Personally I thought The Brotherhood was the toughest and most damaging gang in the game so I always saved them as last gang to take out. R.I.P Carlos

I always start with the Sons of Samedi because they seem like the weakest gang and save the Ronin for last because Aisha's death feels like something that should happen near the finale

Truth be told if the boss did go to handle troy then the Julius scene would have less impact
And you just randomly get troy as a home for doing some activities either a fuzz or the prison fight club can't remember which one

Yes nothing like boring cutscenes with zero atmospheric music, a black man being treated like a clown every chance the game gets, rushed deaths for forced emotions, and worse dialogue than all the other games. Yeah, what a "pristine" game this is.

And the last Entry was Gat out of Hell then Agent of Mayhem Showed up like a soft reboot of the Saints Row Universe... i mean Gat's a Cop in that Universe and one of the Endings in Gat out of Hell is Remake the Earth, therefore the EARTH Is Basically Retconed. Johnny Gat becomes a Badass Police Lieutenant of the Seoul Police Force, Hoping to find his Friends. Kinzie and Matt Miller talk about Persephone Brimstone ( the Future Boss of Agents of M.A.Y.H.E.M) Captured who Johnny goes to Interrogate from there it sets up for Agents of M.A.Y.H.E.M which is kinda... Canon now :(

Loved this game. I enjoyed a lot the Trafficking activity. Nothing like shooting from a car to groups of enemies while you listen to Karma Chameleon.

I think this game had the best enemy gangs out of the whole series. They're memorable, impactful, diverse, quirky, and just, just like the protagonists.

Saints Row 2 is my all time favorite game, I've played every game in the franchise and nothing compares to SR2, truly a underrated masterpiece of a game👑
Ive always loved how Gat escapes from death row and Aisha hasn't even ask him How and or Who pertaining to his escape and hes just hiding out at home with her, who is also hiding out there
Some time passes between getting Gat out of the court and meeting him at his house, as it shows with the phone call in the beginning. So she could have asked questions off-camera.

1-2: introduce saints and get their notoriety. 3: shows how notoriety takes saints from a church to an avengers tower with movie deals while gangs along with government agencies try to shut them down. 4: saints take over the White House right before an alien invasion. GooH: boss goes to hell and needs saving. I get people hate the direction they took, but you can’t deny that it’s original.

In a way it did make sense how things escalated.
SR1 you take over the city
SR2 you take over the city AND a mega corporation
SR3 the saints are celebrities and take over a new city that turns into its own state depending on your ending
SR4 the boss becomes the president, essentially taking over earth, so you get dragged to outer space and conquer that too

I forgot how much I miss the Boss and Johnny’s banter. The second game is where they were at their best.
Truly , they are the best of friends after all the stuff that they went through the first game , Johnny is right hand man of the boss and if anything happened to the boss , Johnny would take over and lead the saints , my personal opinion , Johnny is more cruel and truly psychopath more then the boss , the only time he shows mercy to a rival gang member is shogo and that’s when they are at the funeral and Johnny tells shogo to leave about 3 times . I love how the boss doesn’t intervene and lets Johnny say his thing . The player really revolved after sr1 and has grown and is a way better leader then Julius , Julius was trying to manage a gang by using old tactics which didn’t really didn’t get him no where , it’s only thanks to us , Johnny , Troy , dex and Lin , that the gangs were destroyed in sr1 . The player isn’t the typical gang leader and actually learns from his/her mistakes and from his/her enemies , if you play the secret mission which is called revelation , then you’ll know that it was Julius that tried to have the player killed . If you go to the police station , you’ll find the secret audios of Julius and Troy talking after Julius finds out that troy is undercover cop . The player shoots Julius and then haves a conversation with him and Julius says that the player became everything that vice kings , the rollers, and the last Carnales were , Julius even says that the Saints just turned into vice kings that were purple , drugs were still being made , innocent people still being killed . The player then kills Julius by shooting him in the head .
I absolutely prefer the SR2 animation than 3 and 4.
The character models in 3 and 4 were kinda cartoony. Kinda prefer SR1 and 2's.
What like with SR2 the boss actually uses melee weapons right, like with the Katana he uses it like a samurai, whereas in SR3 and 4 any melee weapon is just a bat, even if its the decker sword or 4's energy sword
The old staff and crew must be left the animation Looks better in SR1,2.. even the reboot more cartoony and almost Looks like Fortnite... i never play SR1.. but while the gameplay i prefer in 2 since Short hair and Shaggy is my favorite hairstyle.. that used as Rei Ayanami Evangelion

Thanks for posting these series of cutscenes, I never got to play the Saint's Row series growing up but I recently downloaded the 3rd for Switch and this helped filled in alot of the backstory. In the future these kinds of vids will be so valuable. Much appreciated!
I don't care what anyone says Saints Row 2 is a fucking masterpiece and the most underrated game ever made. I'm a massive GTA fan but I'm not gonna lie I preferred it to GTA 4 and GTA 5
I remember seeing a video of sr2 on youtube some time ago and i never understood how people in the comments could say it was better than GTA V. So i decided to buy it and play it and holy shit, this game became 90% of my childhood and in my top 10 games of all time.

What I really loved was that the NPCs in cutscenes would change randomly in each different playthrough

Long story short, Shogo fucked around and found out in the worst possible way.
I realized that too. Some people may claim the way Gat dealt with Shogo was too cruel but he deserved it. He is was trash. Trying to impress daddy was more important than being respectful and considerate at someone else's funeral. Even if they're a person you're not very fond of, allowing them to grieve in peace would be the most genuinely honorable thing to do ironically.

Just got into the Saints Row series, already halfway through 2- I kinda like how there’s recurring themes with these gangs. You got your Grease Monkeys, your Business Men, and your Drug Lords.
The Grease Monkeys- The Rollers and the Brotherhood. These guys have locked down the business on premium cars. Hijacking and Chop Shops are probably their MO. You can bet they likely run the street racing scene, too. They always seem to be run by the tough guy type.
The Business Men- The Vice Kings and the Ronin. They’re running the hedonist scene. Gambling, Strip Clubs and Night Clubs… they’re usually partnered with more… “official” associates.
The Drug Lords- Los Carnales and the Sons of Samedi. I’ll let you take a guess.
Sure, they still dabble in each other’s main profits, but only one of them rules that market by a long shot.

Watching SR1 and 2 cutscenes back-to-back, it's noticeable how much more brutal Playa is when running the Saints compared to Julius, Dex, and Troy, probably due to the fact that he was only ever a gunman. All of his plans are basically the same as Johnny's, so without anyone there to put the brakes on anything too petty or extreme, the body count gets way higher, and members of the Saints actually start dying.

Being a kid from the hood, this was MY san andreas. Saints Row 2 did everything right. Had that perfect balance between complete goofiness and grit. Carlos' death still fucks with me. Jessica's death brought me too much joy as a kid. 😂
