Lyrics:
The minstrel boy to the war is gone
In the ranks of death you'll find him
His father's sword he has girded on
And his wild harp slung behind him
"Land of Song!" said the warrior bard
Tho' all the world betrays thee
One sword, at least, thy rights shall guard
One faithful harp shall praise thee!
The Minstrel fell! But the foeman's chain
Could not bring his proud soul under
The harp he wore ne'er spoke again
For he tore its chords asunder
And said "No chains shall sully thee
Thou soul of love and bravery!
Thy songs were made for the pure and free
They shall never sound in slavery!”
I'm not going to win this one am I chief ? No sir
Glad I'm not the only one
Haha I just watched that episode and came here to listen to other performances.
the beginnings of and the recreations of so, so, so many careers started at ST TNG Bob Gunton, Famke Janssen, Marc Alaimo, Ashley Judd(one of her first acting gigs)and so, many more some great actors in memorable episodes, GOD I miss shows like that.

@@Yusuf1187 same here :)
I always find posh performances of rebel ballads humorous.
The beauty belting from that man's beer gut was sang for the pure and free.
The lad is a medical doctor and a Paralympic athlete. So maybe not a beer gut. Just saying
@@magzb2642 Are you saying a man can't be a paralympic athlete medical doctor with a beer gut? A man is a man dear sir ;)
Luke, we hardly knew ye. But us irish will love ye forever.
So melancholic
I love this song. These guys are so good togther!
Great Song
first heard this on star trek next gen
A wonderful memory of Junior and Senior school in Wombwell, South Yorkshire .
Best interpretation ever !
Miles O'Brien. Very Simple but good.
@@Yand_Durinul I think the lone choir of two wounded warriors is much more "sincere" to the song than this, which just seems overblown. Wish there was a similar version to TNGs but with the whole lyrics.
Gosh this's a great performance
Just got a new fan. Keep it up lads
Good work, gentlemen.
Oh the memories here! 🤗🤗🤗👏👏👏
Oh that beautiful head of hair!!!! And the voice, WOW.
Steve Bannon the war room is using the song that's why I'm here it's a great song
Make sure that that war room and it’s human nature is tempered by the lyrics of this beautiful humanitarian verse.
The Irish Republicans who created this song were exactly the same "woke" Socialists who Steve Bannon and his Fascist followers hate.
A Bangladeshi Muslim immigrant, here in Naples, Florida asked me what part of Ireland I'm came from. I told him the part named N. Y. C. Rosemary Sheila Anne Kelly
Yes its been a while! But I'm back and better than ever, with three! That's right ladies and gentlemen three live, did I hear that right? Yes! Three live videos! enjoy!
For those of you who read the info for the Lyrics... Which by the way take me a very long time! For those of you who read them, please don't be afraid to tell me if I made a spelling error or have the wrong lyric. Enjoy the videos!
thank you!
Thanks.
It's fantastic to see you back!
Thank you ;)

This song is considered a patriotic song. The lively orchestration is very appropriate.
In the USA they call it Black Hawk Down they re did it for a movie of that name. But I am Irish and I know the history of the song. Folks get some history when I tell them. Today is Veterans day it is being played alot over here. I just love it and the story behind it. The words are lovely.
It's spawned out of the early days of the IRA Irish Republican Army. My friends cousin had his fingernails pulled out, his companion also who went Mad. There's a statue of my friend's cousin in Skiboreen Ireland
For my Faith the KKK defrauded my house, left 4 dead & homeless many times in The US. No lie also a slave ab. 5 years ago.
Peachy Carnahan and Daniel Dravitt send their regards.
Its a dirge from the 1848 rebellion written in tribute to his friends from Trinity College who fell or were executed
And what do they lead with the music of remembrance for the fallen at Cenotaph
The Minstrel Boy
Not ever forgetting the 19th irish division
Count John sings it beautifully
As is
Nearer my god to thee
ts about robert emmett and the also about united irishmen who rebelled in 1798
1778 rebellion
Tempo too fast.
The fellow on the right has prosthetic legs.
I like this a lot better than the discordant, dirge-like arrangements.
The speed and orchestration is FAR too cheerful for a lament!
I agree
Paul Robeson's version is the best, hands down.
What a Great Singer Paul was His memory lives on The same as The Great Joe Hill I never died said he hard times Great men easy street now 😂😂 have to make up problems Our most privileged don't know what a Woman is real work? Another Country At least China their people are so hard working know hunger The next emerging Empire are laughing at us along with Russia and North Korea
Can a version of this song be dedicated to the Defenders of The Ukraine?
Way too Allergo
It should be against the Law for any but the Irish to sing this song. But, the orchestration is far to lively. This is a lament, a dirg.
It should be against the law for stupid fucks like you to make such totalitarian remarks
It is a sad, but heroic song. Not a march.
this is not a happy song.. playing as a martial march is terrible.
not martial
