    Crazy at how evil the record industry was and still is. I was in the business during the late 90s and early 2000s, and everything I saw and experienced during a 4-5 year period, led me to run in the opposite direction, as fast as possible. Calling the industry “cutthroat” is an understatement…. There are no words in any language, to describe the pure evil that is the music industry, and really, the entertainment industry as a whole. Looking back after 2.5 decades, is surreal, but it reinforces my decision to leave when I did. As a musician, getting out allowed me to preserve my passion for music, and continue my love of playing in bands. Great work as always Daniel.

      As if the music industry was any more cutthroat than medicine, academia, stock brokers… the world is cutthroat, unless you decide to resign yourself to be a secretary or something.
      The music industry treated musicians better than most industries treat its employees. Perhaps you’re bitter about not being able to have a career in music? And to what degree were you involved with the industry? What major label did you sign? What record? Idk if you can judge the industry like that.
      Music industry is essentially contracted labor. The money-men don’t owe the musicians anything. They want to make a profit. The artists want the machinery to do what they want to do.

    Kurt went from saying Dave is the perfect drummer to wanting to get rid of him. Kurt was moody & not of a clear mind. He knew Dave was the best for the job & was probably just going through a pissy stage. Besides Dan Peters couldn't hold Daves stick. He's on video screwing up the end of School. Never heard Dave screw anything up ever.

      People also forget that Dave was in Nirvana for a short period of time , yet he played drums, sang a lot of backing vocals on Nevermind, and also spoke as Nirvana during some interviews. I don’t see Kurt being a big fan of Dave’s increased involvement in the band that was really Kurt’s life story. And in retrospect, the kind of crappy radio rock that Kurt didn’t want to become.. that’s exactly what Foo Fighters is today.

      In the video, Dan Peters broke a stick because he was drumming so damn hard. That was his very first show with the band too without as much rehearsal that Dave Grohl had in his first show. He also definitely rushed the hell out of those songs but I'm sure he could've hanged after a few shows. Both phenomenal drummers.

    Its almost like Kurt wanted a different drummer on every album. Dave’s style really fit Nevermind but didn’t match as well for Kurt’s vision on In Utero and even the Unplugged show.

    • @fuzzydunlop7928
      @fuzzydunlop7928 17 днів тому

      I'd argue that Grohl shines on In Utero, and in fact it's kinda a dirty secret that a good percentage of the drum fills and hooks on Nevermind were actually written by Chad Channing as well as other drummers. That's not just me saying that, go watch the Butch Vig interview with Beato - he admits to that and Grohl himself even hints at it in their HOF induction speech.
      It wasn't until In Utero that Dave is truly let loose, and his playing with Albini's recording style were a match made in heaven. If Channing was the best drummer for Bleach and Grohl for In Utero, who's supposed to be Nevermind's "drum voice"?

  • @22lulublu

    Anybody who is read about Kurt and his personnel changes in the band will come to realize that he could not handle confrontation. The only one he really talk to face-to-face, I believe with Chris, was Chad Channing. Who was certainly deserving.

    • @sword-and-shield
      @sword-and-shield 2 місяці тому +1

      Yeah, many don't realize most of what Dave did before In Utero was play embellished grooves already created and established. A drummers creative approach to groove creation can be wack, even though their chops, or skills, are nailed, and that can cause problems, especially if a change in direction was in Kurt's mind.

He’s the most likely after Courtney to have been involved in Kurt’s murder. Cause he’s the one who stood to lose the most. The History of the Music Industry is literally paved with stories of dreamer artists who thought they could just up and leave whenever they pleased, when there was an army of middle men making millions thanks to their music. Then who were “suicided” after they tried to get out. Hendrix is another… drowned in wine by his manager. But to the gullible general public , that’s half of the so called “27 Club”.

    I love Nirvana, it’s my favorite band, and it has been a major influence on how I approach music in all its aspects, but Kurt clearly failed to see Dave’s genius. One of the many great things about Nevermind, was how Andy Wallace immediately recognized a great drummer with mind blowing original hooks and put much of the emphasis of the mix on it. That album changed everything. So, yeah, I love Kurt, but Nirvana wouldn’t become as big as it did without Dave.

    Oh how I love this turns up as tasteless internet click bait. Lol The 90s icon and the most celebrated human being on earth, in many ways, also silently among the most hated or at the least fittingly resented. The recent article by azzerzad was a retread mostly and its important to note, he only existed on one level in the Nirvana tree, being neither a close friend, or a musician. Im sure he knew Dave would hear it when he said it, but the story has finally had a little light shed that Dave almost walked due to kurts ell known angst pretentious ways,, on who is assuredly going in history as one of rocks best drummers. Props to Dave ok and he set an example others likely tried to follow but they were battling the best or worst spoiled brat of maybe our times. The most interesting thing was that from 1990 Nirvana didn't hang out very much, Kurt had rallied his forces to build a wall between corporate invaders like pearl jam lol yeh they were so van Halen, kinda lol infamously, so likely more of that has made it apparent Kurt was not such a nice guy. In fact to hurt the feelings of fans, which I don't really care cause they're mostly Maga these days, Kurt was a narcissist on many levels who pursued fame and attention to a megalomaniac degree. He had it, the look the smarts the style, several times over and he knew it. The rest is charades. brad pitt wanted to be him, watch true romance. Dave never tried to be in kurts circle, if kurt even had one. Any love other than heroin by the time he croaked with her friend Mary a shotgun and a crappy rem album lol I guess for last lol. He also had been smoking organic American spirits not to say he was worried about cancer, just that he new good cigarettes. He also drove a Volvo because he was so scared to die right theres proof he was murdered by Courtney. I've had people, even people he knew living try to tell me he was a hit job. Bullshit I say and why are you all so fast to hold his wife accountable. Too many paradoxical statements in their ever morphing theories. Unless you have video proof of that greenhouse showing Courtney love herself shooting Kurt cobain in the face and escaping out the window then stow it. If she had gone to a guy claiming to be killer all fucked up on heroin and then oops forgot I tried to pay some guy to shoot Kurt last night when I was drunk,, oh no better try to call that off.. oh shit its too late. I see no connection to either high ranking costa nostra or the Jewish illuminati lol anyone in this band.. youde have an easier time convincing me jim morrison was a yakuza kingpin. And see then if even she did,, as claimed by el duce, she would still be a victim of sorts, imply of fuckedupness, but to make a mockery of our very serious courts of law, with this? I don't think any of the claims made hold water at all. Yknow its gaslighting the uncool. You hate her and kurts cool thus you trash the bash. Oh and of course fame money revenge all fuel it. I'm no fan of hers but to say Kurt cobain was innocent is a riot. The first article post dead kurt cobain caught my eye read,, the grunge heroin suicide King of Seattle. The writer claimed to have called Kurt merely the grunge heroin King of Seattle a year prior, but sadly had to edit. Azzerzad was far from the only journalist covering Cobain, as well he was literally hired by Kurt to clean up his story, which Michael admits he fastened himself in order to swallow what he knew were tall tales from Kurt, in order to make a sort of agreeable entry. I would've been more impressed if Cobain had thrown the book through a window and wrestled him to the ground high school wrestler style, yes he wrestled and lol was also a swim instructor at the local ymca . By many accounts Kurt had a decent relationship with people in his town. The bullies azzerzad publishes are deus ex machina props to tell a bullshit story about an embroiled self hating friendless lunatic who could only score with a fat retarded girl. Buzz Osborne of the Melvin said this claim.was highly dubious,, and that if the degree of bullying Kurt claimed to gave endured in those times had in fact existed,, himself and plenty of others would have heard.. also who later tried to kill himself via train..its lively thinking. Its a big part of the artist we loved in Kurt, and I've taken many long walks with his talented gifts he shared, enough times but its doubtful to be literally sth. Who hasn't stood along the tracks or ga,GA, into a cold river and had those thoughts. But book worthy? Not if I jumped in front of ten trains would anyone give a flying fook. in my hometown we have a guy who did that while high on meth.. he drags himself around on a skateboard trying to convince people he lost his legs in a war. Kurt did graduate high school, was a drummer originally before swapping to bass then guitar and lead singer. his father donald was a well to do manager in lumber contracting and not some skidrow log humper. I don't have to know Cobain personally just read better books that took kurts personal narration, which by azzerzafs own admission as unreliable, with a grain of salt and looked past. I was in 9th grade the year Cobain died but I wouldn't become afflicted by life and feel a draw to these events until years following 1994. It was never because of Kurt cobain I actually did drop out of high school. But being from a shite family in a poor state with no future. How could somebody like that not take note of Kurt cobain at some time. I've stood right on the golden gate Bridge before, but I didn't jump in. Meanwhile ten people under the age of 30 die from fentanyl a week all around, most of them pretty young girls till the obits become a frigging barely legal beauty pageant. SMH that's yeh a pretty dark melancholic antecedent I'm sure no one finds humor but maybe some sick pup.

    That would have been a huge mistake on kurts part I think but in a way I think they would have broken up and Foo fighters in some form would have happened and been big. Bands do not last forever most of the time (though they last longer than they used to for real it seems). Kurt had alot of problems in the end. Alot of people wonder what would happen if he didn't kill himself, but I think all the legal issues and stuff he put on himself had him running headlong into a big downfall either way.
