(Version #117) And regarding Tweaks: Some of the features only work outside the container, so you would need to install it with "abroot pkg add" and "abroot pkg apply". Yeah the whole atomic a/b update's is pretty neat, im using bazzite currently and it also has this 🙃 I had it fail an update recently but it didn't matter as i could just choose the other oci image that was created before to get back in
@OraOraOra yeah i installed bazzite for a couple of days, main problem for me is if you wanna install system packages you have to create a whole new oci image which takes a while for me. Ill make a video on it at some point
@@linuxnext Alright thx. Yea on paper Bazzite looks like the perfect Distro, basically unbreakable and fresh&new packages. I heard system packages are just IF YOU HAVE to. I thought you are a Flatpak enjoyer, but I guess there are just some things that arent available as Flatpak.
@@OraOraOra i am a flatpak enjoyer, just when i want to experiment with system packages like getting newer mesa versions like git i cant rlly do that on bazzite, i think its the most stable distro you could ever ask for and the developers provide a easy way of installing some basic system packages for gaming. I get bored when things are too stable lol so i like to muck around but for the majority of people bazzite will suit their needs for games or whatever as flatpak is the main way of installing software
You should take a look into Bedrock Linux and maybe make a video on it. It's basically every distro frankensteined into a single one. Could make for some pretty good content!
Hello. Did you have an experience using Garuda linux distro? It is positioning itself as gaming distro. I switched to this distro recently from Windows, but maybe I should have switched to Nobara insted. Would love to see a review on Garuda linux and maybe some comparison with Nobara in terms of game performance as they are both gaming distros. Thanks for the content and keep it up!
I have used it and its great, but i dont like its default themes it uses so thats why i rather use something like endeavor os That video idea is planned thank you
I tried to use it on my machine and its too buggy. Things just dont work at all or are so buggy they will get on your nerves. Its a nice concept but it was not ready for release. Maybe it will be fixed with some updates or the next version. I am glad that they got away from Ubuntu as I have lost all faith in that product and will not use a distro based on it.
Maybe.. will see :) It's also good that they offer plasma, i know vanilla os will be adding plasma at somepoint as the lead dev was testing it but idk when it will be arriving
@@linuxnextjust got to the "you can play anything" part and I think you unfortunately can't and it depends on a game. I believe if an app is purely written in typical android Java it doesn't really care about the platform so it will definitely work but if it has some optimized components written in C (which is probably typical for heavy games) they have to be compiled and published separately for ARM and x86 and if devs don't support x86 it's not going to work
Hey, I have one question about the 'nvidia flatpak hell.' Every time I get a driver update, it keeps the old versions of the driver and updates all of them whenever there is an Nvidia runtime update. Also, 'flatpak remove --unused' does not work. I have 4 different org.freedesktop.Platform.GL32.nvidia-535-xyz-xy. Is it safe to manually remove them? And thank you for your videos. They are helping a lot because I'm relatively still new to Linux.
The driver you're using which would be 545 so you can safely remove the older ones and keep the gl, gl32 ones. I think you could use an application like flatsweep to remove them automatically but if not just go to your store and search for them Flatpak does this if an application depends on those runtimes but i think most software dont do this with nvidia so you should be fine You can do this command aswell flatpak remove --runtime --unused

Nice vid. I am wondering how does compiling software work in Vanilla os? There is no apt, dnf or zypper in compiling process.
Well you would have to enter a container to compile software i guess
