I mostly eyeball centering as well.
If it is a more expensive card and/or I am concerned about centering for whatever reason, I will screenshot the eBay listing and then use the ruler tool on my phone to have a better estimate

@scvsportscards Hey how you been? Got a question for you. Outside of your card business, what other income streams do you have or are working on? Not trying to get on a q&a video unless you wanna use this, I just genuinely wanted to ask. Been a fan of your videos for awhile now but, I wanted to say I like how you're starting to put more "in the life" type content out while keeping to your straightforward no bs way. Keep progressing. HOLD on SCV you say you are against card cleaning but in another video you say you've done once overs on your cards before sending them in and if there's. Smudge or fingerprint you have no problem using your spit and rubbing the card clean, now I'm confused. Is it spit or no spit SCV?

People look at me like I'm stupid when I tell them I'm broke and they know what I have.
Until you hit 10 mil in the bank... not invested... I'm talking just in the bank for a rainy day.. you should still have other money invested.. but 10 mil is the cut put of rich or peasant.
300 to 400K in the bank when, you're in the 20's is doing better than most...and far from broke. But, it's an attainable goal, at least he doesn't waste his money on dumb stuff.

Hey SCV thanks for answering all my questions, I got another one for you, actually a couple. On average how many hours per day do you put in towards your business and what is a comfortable amount that need to have up front to start. I have a job and a couple of dollars saved up in my 401K. What I would like to do is stay with my job for now part time and do cards as business. What do you think?
Yeah I haven’t been doing much lately because there’s not much to buy. Just depends what you can afford, just learn by doing, take calculated risks.
I am surprised you still haven’t gotten a sponsorship from PSA like IF Sports. You advertise so much for them, go and get that money 😅

@SCVSportsCards sure they would. Businesses play with podcasts that are WAY worse than you. Joe Rogan built an empire being bombastic, slightly obnoxious, in you're face and telling enough truth that the stretches can still be believable.
Hey brother i want to grade for the first time, and I want to go with a Psa. I would only want to send in maybe 10 to 20 cards at a time. How should I go about this? Do I pay for the Psa membership or not?
I would but if you aren’t going to have the numbers maybe use a group submission you trust

Pokémon grading has some good profits maybe try to dabble in grading some since sports cards don’t have much product right now

Yes. Not just you, especially the big cards.
2-3x your money on each deal,
even the drug dealers don't have that margin anymore.
while you can still do it with cards,
it becomes VERY hard to do at scale.
You can't take 100k and spend it in a week
on deals/cards that will 2-3x for you.
Why a guy will take 10% profit on a 100k deal.

@@Big_Mac_Boy well if you can take 100k and 2-3x it twice a year, why your boy have 400k sitting in a bank account at 2% and not 2-3x instead, twice a year?
He should have over 1 mil from that 400k by 2-3x it just once.

@@Big_Mac_Boy I agree with what you say. But even other areas of the hobby are not providing 2-3x your money unless you are playing with low value cards in bulk to get that 2-3x markup,
as long as you don't consider the labor, its all good 😁

Geoff's monthly nut is likely around 80-90k for a store that size. There is no way he can pay that expense from instore sales,
so a considerable portion of his income is from online, and will need to be, in order for that store to remain operational,
or a big sponsorship deal.
Just opened store #4 last month,
biggest one so far,
monthly nut is about 36k,
smallest store its 25k
Daily nut for all 4 stores is about 4,500
with the warehouse, about 5,400 per day.
One man show only gets you so far,
Need real funds to level up.

Avoid authenticity from a card use the word “box”’in the title

2023 optic dowtown cj stroud blaster box rookie
That’s smart, also listing things in lots avoids it. So if you want to list a high end auto of a player and then include a cheap rookie card and list it as a “lot” it’ll avoid the authentication too

To be honest e everyone is losing money on card right now... I don't care who's saying what... with this economy and the off season at the same time I have no problem calling out people "getting paid" in cards...
The catd market is at an all-time low regardless of who wants to admit it.
The flippers are dropping daily and seeking new ways of income daily.... just like you.
But yes, cards HQ is a joke and just throwing away Money...
