I found this guitar without cutaway in 2015 or 2016. My wife heard me play it. It is the Oregon Concert series limited edition Myrtle wood. After owning and playing for 6 or 7 years, I cannot say enough good things about it. Great clarity, projection and quality of build.

just heard these guitars in a local shop. Due to corona-rules only the owner played it. But he took his time. Boy! I'm sold. The Myrtle sounded the best.

You are right about that for sure! I tested a lot of them and Breedlove is really strong and can hold its own!
No doubt! I've had a Breedlove for years and thought I wanted a Taylor. I even work at Sweetwater and get a massive discount on guitars. But, I'd rather pay full price for a Breedlove, than get a half price Taylor. They're beautiful guitars.

I have a Martin and a Taylor, but I've known about Breedlove and admired them for years. I'd sell my Martin and Taylor for a Collings guitar, and a Breedlove companion or concertina for my couch guitar any day. Breedlove's maker worked for Taylor for 25 yrs, I believe.

I just took home a Oregon Concerto CE - I was going to get a Martin D28 because I loved how rich and full that guitar sounded. My uncle had one, and it was always my dream guitar for years. When time came for me to purchase one I actually sat down for 20-30 minutes comparing the Martin D28 and the Breedlove, the Breedlove sounded better - and I couldn't be happier. It's such a quality instrument.

@@tommoyer4697 To me I thought the Breedloved sounded better. I had a bigger low end punch, not a muddy basey sound, but just "balls" To me it sounded like the best of both worlds between a bell like Taylor, and the balls of a Martin.
Another worthy, informative Acoustic Letter. Always check these out whenever they come up ahead of the rest. I find them an honest, objective appraisal of guitars, with little or no sales pitch, and this one on Breedlove is no different. That's appreciated, because the guitars themselves are allowed to do the talking, sounding, and selling!
Regard older/newer. I'm frequently blown away by new guitars so I don't always get the older is better vibe. However there are exceptions.
Koa definitely sounds better when played in, though not necessarily old. New guitars produced are sometimes the result of modern innovations/improvements so that has to be factored in. Some woods certainly respond better when older/played in, others don't. The best example of a guitar sounding WORSE with age was a Martin 000 I owned, with a cedar (unfinished) top, mahogany B&S. It was played a LOT, semi professionally, but 15 years of sweat, playing and wear killed the tone, unless you go for super, super mellow.
As a brand-spanking-new guitar this Breedlove sounds fantastic.
Maybe sometime Acoustic Letter might do something objective on Faith. I've been playing over 50 years, owning many of the leading brands, but some of these Faith guitars are simply out of this world, a tribute to the great Patrick James Eggle of England.

Love the Fidler on the Roof reference! “Tradition!” I also love my Breedlove. Started learning this year, and the Breedlove is my first guitar.
Nice to see an acoustic maker doing some innovative things -- wish I had that string-through bridge on all my guitars. As for this model, it sounds very bright and chimey to me -- probably great for fingerpicking, but not ideal for those who like a warm-sounding guitar.

Proud owner of 2 of the Chinese make; 12 IN THE MYRTLEWOOD and 6 in all mahogany. The 12 is my go to-the mahogany is kinda dull but thumps big on the bass notes
i like that they did do a detailed discussion, but still that's way to many words per note, as far as I'm concerned.
I really enjoy these reviews...they are very informative, and very entertaining. Quinton is amazing player, and its always a joy listening to him play. I also enjoy the conversation between Quinton and Paul, but the difference in volume between when the guitar is being played and when Paul & Quinton are talking is enough that I have my hand on the volume knob to increase it when they start talking. Have you considered placing mics on the guys? I think what they is a significant part of these videos. Overall, I enjoy these videos.

I have an older (around 15 years) Breedlove in the same body shape, but it has a spruce top and rosewood back and sides (all solid woods). It's got an incredible amount of sustain due to their pin-less bridge.. there's a wooden truss rod running from the end pin area to a block under the bridge. Really creative technology that helps prevent the top wood from warping over time, lessening the angle of each string as it bends over the saddle, and allowing for more sustain due to different bracing. Because of the body shape, they come strung with light strings from Breedlove, which I would usually hate, but they end up working and sounding perfectly. With the spruce and rosewood, I get a ton of punch/percussion, almost like a piano-sound.. stunning overtones, an incredible balance with impressive lows and very clear highs. The body shape plays comfortably, along with the neck shape and fretboard dimensions.
I have an "07 D25 Pro Dreadnaught (Spruce/Rosewood) and a "12 Focus SE Concert (Redwood/Rosewood). Both have the bridge truss system. Both sound amazing in their own right. Love their designs. Don't see myself parting with either one anytime soon.

I love Breedlove guitars and actually have this model with sitka spruce top. But I don't have a clue about the videos and movies your guess is talking about. da...

@@angelg8445 we’ll let me tell you bro; Breedlove is an amazing guitar. They’re worth every penny and can be compared to all the big names. Remember that nowadays all of them are cut and assemble by machines. They’re like butter to your fingers
Do I dare say the depth and timbre approach the JS200 and F55E at half the price?
I could compare some of these breedloves to mcpherson guitars. I know it’s a bit out there but if you told me they were mcpherson’s affordable models I’d believe you

Larry Breedlove and Steve Henderson worked at Taylor Guitars, and started Breedlove Guitars in Tumalo, Oregon with the help and encouragement of Bob Taylor, Kurt Listug, and others, before moving the company to Bend. Older brother Kim Breedlove joined the new company from Deering Banjo and took over operations when Steve left to work on his farm and Larry returned to work at Taylor.

Don't know why you guys are emphasizing so much about the Breedlove bridge, nothing new here, Ovation was making these 40 something years ago! But Breedlove guitars are still good guitars for the price and, I do like your video reviews.
I own one... The Exotic Compaion is absolutely Stunning... Solid all over and the electronics are not mounted through the side... adjustment is in the sound hole... it's not their best review
I am thinking about picking one of these up. The factory string action is really high. Did you all adjust the action and if so how low did you manage to get it at the 12th fret? Also, which guage of string are you using? Thanks!

I think this is a useful channel, both for your store and for people looking for guitars! But how come nobody can stay on subject for 15 seconds anymore?
Being witty while on subject will be much more fun than continuous random attempts at being witty and talking over each other in the process.

Builder...you've answered your own question. You, too, can't tolerate any kind of digression because, like most modern youtube trained viewers, our attention spans are getting shorter and shorter. The internet culture trains us to want everything now, now, now, and if we aren't satisfied immediately, we click on something until we get stimulated quickly and superficially. Yet we also demand constantly new content because we are so trained for instantaneous gratification. That incessant need for newness means that sometimes the content won't be good because it has to be churned out so quickly to meet our ever insatiable demand for more, more, more. I'm just glad to find a review on this exact model and I'm fine sifting through the digressions and "witty" asides. I agree, though, I'd like more substance and playing on the guitar and less gibberjawing.
Do not point the microphone at the sound hole. Too much bass in every episode of your show.

I had a myrtle wood pursuit. I tried to convince myself that I made a good guess having chanced buy it via online. It seemed heavy on bass and the treble side was dull. I got rid of it.

That was an excruciatingly painful review of what I assume to be a great guitar from the roughly 30-60 seconds I got to hear it be played.
I would prefer less banter and more review.

I will not invest in another Breedlove product again. They farm out their offshore production to factories in China. And that is now the FIRST question I ask when buying any imported guitar. I bought a Pursuit Companion. This guitar was the 2nd Chinese-manufactured instrument The other was a Baby Martin. I had the same problem with both. They were complete POS right out of the box. The bridges were placed incorrectly which made them impossible to intonate. Just to be clear, I don't have a problem w/ guitars made in Korea, Indonesia, or Japan. Those countries have a well-established track record of making guitars. I own 2 guitars made in Korea. They have great action and they're sweet to play. But with Chinese-made guitars, I get the impression that the companies are more interested in production volume rather than making quality products. And you know that statement has validity when guitar companies have to immediately go on the defensive in their marketing and advertising when they tell you about how warm and fuzzy and cozy their relationship is with the factory in China. They wouldn't have to do that if the bad reputation wasn't there. I'm sure the particular instrument shown in this video is fine (for $2,500, it had better be!) but the fact that they were willing to low-ball production and build a $h!tty product with no quality control... no thanks.
