It has MPI and GDI.. most German cars are on GDI hence EGR will cause carbon built up issues that will affect turbo and calytic converter, valve carbonisation resulted in power loss in long run, especially city drivers.. MPI helps with reducing the carbonisation. There is a reason why European cars only offer 3 years warranty and genesis 5 years unlimited warranty..

New to the channel, thoroughly enjoyed your review. I plan on getting this vehicle in the coming months and the funny thing is you're driving the exact same color configuration I built. So it was nice to see how it looks in real-time. I have opted for the advanced, 3.5T trim and can't wait to join the Genesis family.

Brian, I love the way you do your reviews. Very clear and refreshing. I am a Genesis fan boy. Ever since the G70. Had the GV70 been out last year, I would have gotten it instead of the G70, but after I test drive the GV70, I had to trade in my beloved G70. It’s only me and my wife as empty nesters so the GV80 is way too big for our needs but yes that is as lovely as my new GV70 Sports Prestige!

Nice car. I might buy it or GV70. But I have to say I’m not a fan of these low-profile sport tires on huge rims for SUVs. Very fragile, very expensive to maintain and replace if damaged. Seems silly for an off-road DNA-derived vehicle, but I guess the soccer moms rule…

I love almost everything about the gv80 but now that you point out 16mpg Im no longer in love. Yes, you said you drive it hard, but I do a lot of city driving which will likely yield similar results.
But I thank you for not being like most other reviewers and just quote whatever numbers the manufactures give you. Now if you start showing actual measurements of storage space instead of the totally useless cubic feet stats and you will be the best reviewer ! IMO

    • @BrianMakse
      @BrianMakse  2 роки тому

Well, DH, I've got a couple of things to say.
First, you WILL get better than mileage than me. Your reaction is why I'm reluctant to note my real world fuel consumption because I'm dangerous here - unlike every other reviewer, I'm a racing driver who enjoys power and I don't give a flying you know what about fuel costs. So, what we end up with is a warped view of real world mileage.
Second, there's a snowball's chance in h3ll I would bring a tape measure with me to determine interior volumes.
Regardless, you can count on me to drive everything properly. Hope you stick around!

to me..the lincolns are better deals.
these engines have been perfected by ford since 2009.
the rear side views are sadly compromised by the weird slanting, forcing a small corner window view.
the gv80 twin turbo starts at 60,000
the lincolns are RWD as well. 58,000 with a 3.0 trin turbo v6
    the hybrid is also available.
and, IMO,the lincolns will hold their looks better than any genesis has ever held up.
the korean brands are sooooo busy updating their looks to get better, they outdate their customer's purchases within a few years.

I’m American and have owned Fords. Most Fords are unreliable except for the F150. Sorry, there’s a reason virtually no American buys Lincoln anymore. It’s crap. The Korean brands change the looks to keep up with market demand and are very efficient, unlike Ford/Lincoln that pretty much abandoned everything except for SUV/trucks because they couldn’t design a proper sedan or sports car if it kicked them in the butt. I do agree the first generation Genesis had bland forgettable styling, but the current generation is way better than any other competitor, including bland box Lincoln.

You can put nappa leather on a turd and it will still stink. The greedy Hyundai salespeople are marking this thing up, sky high. People are ONLY interested in the Prestige and that’s a serious problem.
Now after the GV80 powertrain lawsuits, they are pretty much screwed. When we sat down to buy one, they tried to jack the MSRP from 72K to 88K on the Prestige. We walked. Thank goodness this was before the lawsuits. We dodged a big bullet, lmfao.

If you pay $73K for this, when something like a JagUar F-Pace SVR or BMW X5 m50i can be had for $10-$15K more, you are out of your mind. Nobody buys at this level; it is 90% lease and that means the monthly payment differential is immaterial for the extra MSRP. Nobody chooses a $73K car because they can't afford an $85K one. This is comparable to a Caddy XT6 and at that price is an ok alternative (though the Caddy will last a decade longer than any Hyundai). Any more than $60K for this is utter madness. Always remember, you get what you pay for...
