Is Surfside really the best surfing we have in Texas in your opinion? I’m 27 and need a new hobby not sure whether to take the 1.5 hour drive to Surfside on weekends or to wait until HTX Surf opens up in 2025
Surfing is very difficult and takes a long time to get good at, but it’s really fun once you get the hang of it! There’s a strong kiteboarding community in the area as well. I would highly recommend pickleball as something you do regularly!
Thanks for showing that real surfing exists here in Texas!! Im so sick of Waco pool footage and tankers-as if novelty waves are all we have! As a Southern Cal resident of 42 years (HB for 25 of them) and surfer since age 10 who moved to the Lone Star state in 2012, I’ve come to appreciate a lot about surfing here! Yes, our wave shape and specific conditions are lacking by comparison. Yep-I know-but the fallacy most outsiders have is that this lack of perfection or phenom conditions means bad conditions or non-surfable conditions all the time. That’s where they’re wrong. I’ve had a blast on so many days! I also love surfing with weather drama, which is usually the case. Riders of the storm 🎶 for sure here! The need to really understand weather/wind, mastering the duck dive/paddling like nobody’s business, warm water so much of the year (actually wearing board shorts for the reason they’re named board shorts), and a friendlier crew of surfers in most spots from Padre to Galveston than I’ve ever encountered are just some of the reasons I’m proud to be a TX surfer-and NOT IN A WAVE POOL OR A TANKER WAKE!
August 5 ,2023 at jetty park planned paddle out for old surfer that died in Jan 2023, I have his ashes, I don't' know how many other surfers knew him by name. Then afterwards will intern the remain ashes at Houston Veterans Memorial. I found him dead in his apartment at Lake Jackson.
@@ryaniswandering 🥹do you know a good beach near Texas. Moved from the east coast to Dallas and idc if the beach is 4-5 hours just have no idea what’s a good spot to go. 😭also I know shark attacks are rare but still nervous. Back home we haven’t had any recorded since like 1981
You need to use warm water wax instead of the cold water kind, otherwise it melts off.
